Your barn looks great and is a huge asset. I've seen so many barns all over the country, that the people have neglected for decades. I don't get it. Thanks for Sharing 🇺🇸.PS I really like your brush idea, and the cow's Love it. 🐂
To maintain a lot of old big barns is a big financial commitment. Here in the south old tobacco barns if not used for storage an not maintained, usually are taking down or blown down, also to deduct the repairs you need. a business etc.
Old barns can take a lot of maintenance. As long as you keep a good roof on them, they at least have a fighting chance. Any time I see an old run down farm building, I always think about the time and effort it took to build it, and how proud a farmer must of been when it was new.
I love the look of your red barn, its got that quintessential American farm look to it very nice bets the hell out of the galvanized corrugated tin sheds we over here in Australia
You need to mount the brushes on a 4 sided post, 1 on each side at different heights. Saw Ben at VCC do that for his beef cattle, the cattle seem to enjoy their scratch post. 😊👍
Okay, I think I've got this barn painting thing down. You put Virginia up on the loader and tell her she can come down once the barn is painted, while you duck into the barn to enjoy the shade. :)
We’re seasonal, aiming to calve in May. We use New Zealand genetics. This year we’re using the bull “Misty” from LIC. We breed for grazing efficiency and A2.
No, we decided to keep it all red. Our side door is all red too. We thought about painting it white, but thought it would be a little too much . Thanks for watching!
That wood really soaks up that stain, so that looked like a lot of work. Congratulations on completion of that beautiful barn! Is that brush a specific brush or is it a push broom without a handle? I'd like to get some of those.
It’s just a heavy duty push broom. There was a lug that stuck out the top to screw the handle into, but I cut that off flush with a saw. I pre-drilled three holes and screwed it in with Head-LOC screws. There’s a post behind that section of siding, so it’s well anchored.
The metal sided section is the dairy, which is sealed, conditioned spaces. The rest of the barn we wanted light and airy, so we used the boards spaced slightly apart.
It depends… Are you on the ground looking up? Or on the peak looking down? Haha! Seems a lot taller when you’re up top! Anyway, I believe at the front of the barn, it’s 20’. And at the back, 21’, since the barn floor slopes towards the back. Thanks for watching!
@@vnthomas16 I hear ya! When looking down it looks much higher. Thanks for the info! As always, I enjoy your videos! If you get bored, check out my channel ; )

Old street-sweeper brushes over a post are popular too.
Good painting work the barn looks nice
Thank you!
Nice broom!
We decided we need a few more!
The barn looks so great! It could be on the cover of a magazine!
Thanks! We sure are proud of it!

More like “divide and conquer” the massive work list… 🤣
great job
Thanks!
Was just wondering if you could tell us more about your breeding program; what bulls you use and who each are sired by?
We’re seasonal, aiming to calve in May. We use New Zealand genetics. This year we’re using the bull “Misty” from LIC. We breed for grazing efficiency and A2.
are you going to paint the trim on the hay door white also like the bottom door
No, we decided to keep it all red. Our side door is all red too. We thought about painting it white, but thought it would be a little too much . Thanks for watching!
You'd best order up another brush head, the cows are going to have that one worn bald before very long!
Oh yes! We already want to get a few more so every pen has one! Thanks for watching!
Do your cows get lice? I love watching cows and brushes. You can almost feel how good to get at that one nagging itch❤
Not very often… It’s been a long time. It typically only happens in winter if it does, and we have a good enzymatic shampoo that knocks it out.

whydid you use metal on one part of the barn, and wood on the other part?
The metal sided section is the dairy, which is sealed, conditioned spaces. The rest of the barn we wanted light and airy, so we used the boards spaced slightly apart.
How tall is the roof in the center of the barn?
