    Nice video. You explained at a good pace. Paint latex over oil but never oil over latex. Also I like to spot PRIME all bare wood too before applying finish coat. ZINSSER is a good wood primer. Thnks for taking the time to produce this video.

    Hi, planning to redo and repaint my porch in a few days. Watching your video was super helpful. I will probably get all the stuff that is needed showned I’m your video. Biggest concern I have is using the 5 in 1 scraper you mention to scrap it off lightly getting all the chipped paint than sand it down. That part I understand it all. Now for the old paint that is still there after sanding it down lightly so I just repaint over it. And if I do would that paint come off once it get down the line like 3 years later. Thank you for your support of your video showing us what to do step by step.

    That was a really good video!! Very thorough and concise. Loved seeing the difference btw caulked vs uncaulked corner, wood filler application technique and tip of using cardboard. Just a couple questions.
    1. How long do you have to wait after applying TPS cleaner?
    2. Do you need a primer?

    • @chaserandolph6437
      @chaserandolph6437  4 года назад +5

      Thank you!! Glad you liked it. To answer your questions:
      1. Until it is dry. Usually about 10-15 minutes should do the trick.
      2. You don't need primer but it wouldn't hurt. I would recommend putting on a coat of Kilz interior/exterior primer before putting on the finish coats, especially if the wood is super porous.

    • @billf6417
      @billf6417 4 года назад +2

      @@chaserandolph6437 Very Helpful video. I've read that TPS must be washed off before painting, but you didn't? So, no interference with the paint if you leave it on? It's powerful stuff. But, I'm trying to beat the rain and avoid the dry time of washing it down after applying TSP. I guess it works for you?

    • @chaserandolph6437
      @chaserandolph6437  3 года назад +2

      @@billf6417 I think we did give it a quick wipe down with warm water after using the TSP. Looks like I skipped that part in the video. That being said, I'm sure if you let everything dry there would not be any interference between TSP and paint.

    • @badgerfishinski6857

      10-15 minutes if you are using a latex finish coat psint. Alot longer till the wood is completely dried if using oil based paint

    • @chaserandolph6437
      @chaserandolph6437  2 года назад

      Not sure to be honest, it was there when I bought the house. As far as beadboard goes, you can buy either wood or MDF sheets. MDF should definitely not be used outside because it soaks up water like a sponge, but wood beadboard should be fine.

    • @chaserandolph6437
      @chaserandolph6437  4 года назад +2

      I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Usually you would choose to do either paint or stain, not both. Are you thinking of primer? If you can't get all of the old paint off you can just sand as much of it off as you can and paint over that. No need to get 100% of the old paint off. I hope this helps...if not please clarify what you mean and I'll try to help! Thanks

      "When painting a porch, expect to pay $2 to $5 per square foot. The overall cost is $300 to $750, or $525 on average, since porches are usually 150 square feet at most. The total includes up to 25 linear feet of railings."
