    My favorite nifty tool is the snap on test light. Looks pretty awesome. And i totaly agree on the soldering iron. Been useing it since tuesday and has been awesome so far. Only dislike it the fact that mine feels loose and plastic compared to the powerprobe iron. But it seems so far to be extremely versital. Will be cool to see how mine holds up over time.

    My favorite for this episode is the soldering iron. I have butane and battery powered versions, they don't get hot enough fast enough. May have to try out the Matco. The indexing ability is a nice bonus

    My favorite nifty tool was the Snap-on USB test light. I do a lot of wire chasing under dashboards, so I could see this coming in handy. A close second are those Milwaukee wrenches, I think they may join the arsenal. Awesome video Rustbelt!! 👍👍

    I really recommend the Capri or Matco (if you don’t mind paying a little extra) extractor wrenches! They are awesome! I would give them a try if I were you. I live in Wisconsin so rust is of course a problem here too, and I tell you what, rusty castle nuts that seem to have never been off on a 95’ Lexus ls400, the wrenches didn’t slip a bit.

    I think that Matco Soldering iron is pretty sweet. I like the milwaukee wrenchs but i feel like sometimes they may not be able to get into tight spaces where as the snap on ones i have will. I've seen people get burned (bad diag) from a digital test light, i have one but rarely use it i like my otc test light the best. But measuring voltage drops i can see where the digital one can come in handy.

    I really like that Matco Solder iron. The magnetic base would be great, always worries me when setting down my butane solder iron when it's hot if I'm gonna burn something.

    Try using a heat shield and no tip I been soldering that way for years sounds insane but takes 15 seconds from start to finish less butane used soldering iron last years and you will never ever use a tip again. I evan do chevy ignition wires and vw wires with out a problem ( gps installer for 23 years )

      It’s tough to know what wrenches you really need without buying some you don’t end up using. For me a nice set of non ratcheting combination wrenches and a set of the xl double box like Mountain or Platinum takes care of at least 99% of jobs

    My nifty tool recommendation is
    Vim Magrails. In my opinion hands down the best socket organizer. also I have them stuck too my roll cart lid. Top, middle and bottom and use them too hold extensions or wrenches.

  • @gregblau8082
    @gregblau8082 2 года назад

    The power probe soldering iron takes a while to warm up, hard to put down when it’s hot and I wish it had a clear tank like that. Overall the convenience of not having to run an extension cord is worth it.

    Bonus suggestion for nifty tools would be the mayhew cats-paw o-ring removal tools, they come in extremely handy for removing tight o-rings, especially in places where you may have to be careful not to Knick the mating surface or if you can't get a flat-head screwdriver in there.
