Bro right before you ended this where you talked about the Madvilliany Cover you should have used that Mos Def video where he was like "I bought that Madvilliany album just to stare at The cover, I didn't even have a record player" So DOOM was right it worked for Mos Def ha ha. my man...thank you for filling in some of the blanks about DOOM, along with some of your thoughts about some questions i've always pondered while listening to his music...honestly I was the only person that I knew that listened to MF DOOM in the early 2000's...it seems very refreshing to see others finally catching up to the worlds most mysterious MC...

I have never shed a tear for any singer, rapper or artist in general but when I heard that he passed I silently cried. I soon realized that we don't have to be sad that he's gone, because now he is in the white palace with his son and subroc now.

4:45 I just want to point out, Elektra didn't drop KMD because of DJ Subroc's passing- they were dropped because of some in-fighting and disagreement on the album cover of their second record, Black Bastards. Additionally, because of that, KMD's second record never released until seven years after its completion, under the Readyrock Records label.

Im on a far place from the US, I had a bad view on rap and hip hop as a whole until someone made me listen to MF DOOM. My perspective changed, this man had so much vocabulary and his ability to rhyme was beyond my comprehencion. Im still sad about the idea of not hearing more from him. This kind of videos make the sadness go away for a tiny bit. Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to make this. I used to love hiphop, but I dropped out of life for a few years. When I dropped back in and discovered MF DOOM, he was already gone. I feel like i missed something really important, culturally speaking.

So I've always held his music so close to my heart and our relationship.. . Genuinely felt like I lost a piece of my first love again when I heard he passed 💔

This is amazing, I’ve been listening to DOOM, Madvillain, Dangerdoom and more stuff of him for a while now but I’ve never really paid enough attention to him as a person and his (non Spotify) Music history. I especially got hooked on KMDs history. This got me wanting to find out more about him and his career. Your work is truly appreciated, thanks man.

End of an era man, I feel like DOOM lived long enough to have and keep his old fans when he was Zev Love X and gain new fans of the 2000s and 2010s from his music, stone throws, Madlib, Adult Swim, and all the other influences touched by DOOM. Another interesting tidbit about the DOOMbots is that they also come from Marvel mythology. That was what Dr Doom called his own mechanical clone lackeys. The fact that DOOM followed through on this concept is such a testament to the strength of that character.
Yup as a action figure collector I’d love to build a DOOMbot army and have a custom MF DOOM rising above them all
My parents got to see all these amazing rappers in there prime, we have to see them when they pass. I’m glad we have their music and I hope RUclips is here to stay.
It really was a dope era to grow up in. I was working at Tower Records when Madvillian released. Being able to meet a lot of these guys was unbelievable. You could go to a show and meet them in the lounge. There were so many dope ass Emcees in every area. I never got to meet MF DOOM. Only saw him once. Wish I could have. He wasn't really the type of guy who hung out in the front to meet people before a show.
I consider myself very lucky to have grown up in that era. For reference, I once went to an OutKast & UGK show in a skating rink. I think tickets were $12. It's why I still listen primarily to rap music to this day. People really don't understand how good it was back then.

I was super depressed last year and avoided social media over the holidays. One of my best friends told me a couple weeks ago about DOOM's passing. So this is all still pretty raw for me. Thanks for the video. Brought so many smiles to my face. DOOM was a legend.

This was great! DOOM is one of my favorite artists, and as much as I feel I know about him, there always seems to be something new popping up all the time!
I started listening to MF DOOM in 2016. Since then, I have listened to MF DOOM almost daily and am still surprised by new details that I had overlooked. To me, DOOM is the greatest rapper of all time not because of his lyrics, flow or production but because he has this ability to transport you to a random scenario that he's reciting in a way that's completely unexpected and unfamiliar yet relatable.
On a side note, interestingly MF DOOM has gained a cult following in New Delhi, India (where I'm from). From being asked by my friends to put some Drake or Migos instead to DOOM to now having people instantly recognise his flow as soon as it comes on has been very satisfying to watch

I discovered MF DOOM some time ago, with a meme of silva gunner. It was a rearrangement of the song rap snitches kishes with the soundfont of a spongebob game. Though it was really good, and searched on what it was based. Basically fell in love with it. And now i listen to him really often. Also, Great iceberg video!
