You can still find some of the Victorian mens toilets (or Pissoir) at some of the old steam railway stations. It's where the term 'I'm going to take a Piss' came from. Great to find so much bits of history. That looks like a great place to camp so peaceful X I bet that water from the burn would be cleaner and safer to drink than some bottled water X Fantastic video X Take Care X

On school holidays we used to play in the reservoir which was at that time (late 60s/early 70s) intact and accessible via a rusty ladder in one of the corners I seem to remember. The ruin at 10:55 was a small holding which we called Priesthope, and this also was largely intact with stairs leading to an upper level. North from this ruin the path will lead up eventually leading to source of the burn and up onto Windlestraw Law, the highest hill in the area. Again, on holidays the local kids would earn some extra pocket money on grouse beats on the upper slopes which at that time were heather moorland and devoid of conifers most of which were planted in the late 70s/early 80s.

That’s amazing x did you swim there ?

No, the walls were intact but no water. We would play football inside and I seem to remember an echoing sound from our shouts. The whole area around Walkerburn was just a giant playground for kids at that time. It was a great place to be brought up.

What a lovely day. If you had trouble up the hill, I would never have made it! Thank you for taking me to the top for that view. Are the pups related? They enjoy the outings as much as you do. Travel Safe.
