  • Disney Star Wars The Acolyte Episode 5. What can i say? Its better than what came before but it would be harder to limbo beneath the expectation level those previous episodes set than to exceed them.
    We look at the episode as a whole, the main issues throughout (they haven't really changed) and the reasons why this perhaps is better than any of the previous episodes of the Acolyte.

    Something I noticed that was missing and could’ve answered a bunch of force pull questions…
    A moment early on in the big fight, it should have the dude and any Jedi using force pull at the same time and canceling out so they start to fight with sabers 🤷🏻‍♂️. Start big fight.
    Actually in that initial force push when the dude pushes half a dozen Jedi.
    Could have been the dude force pushing couple Jedi away and then the next Jedi force blocks that shit. So now we know why they don’t use that force often.

      @@richiesflicks thanks for the comment and you've hit the nail on the head here. This is exactly what they did with revenge of the sith and its one of the reasons even mentioning the fight scene in this episode in the same breath as the one from the revenge of the sith is abhorrant. But im going to do it anyways.
      The problem is the way they have set the plot here it could seem contrary to the what i thought the message of the show was if they even tried to do the same. In revenge of the sith anakin and obi wan are arguably of very similar strength both jedi masters and when they attempt the force push they blow each other away showing there's no point using force powers. This is so easily shown in a 1 v 1 fight.
      The whole mantra of this show is about the power of many. So 8 (or however many useless jedi knights there were) plus master sol all using force powers should have been able to deal with one sith and counter his force powers easily enough. But they didn't. And even if the sith was way stronger (which he clearly is and if the neuter him in future episodes so the jedi can win i might lose my mind) than any single jedi I just don't think it's plausible to say he'd be stronger than many wielding the force at the same time.
      But that's my thoughts anyways.
      The one thing I will say is every fan I've spoken to can come up with a rationale or a plot or a way to fix this show which is so far beyond anything the limited imagination of the writers could comprehend that its virtually guaranteed it will never happen.

    It's possible the Sith just wants to fuk around not caring who he kills or not. Maybe he is even a battle junkie that wants to try and draw out for more fighting. Like as a Sith he is completely assured of his own superiority and just wants to beat down the Jedi showing off how much better he is then them. Why he kills the Padawan so quickly, since she impossibly was giving him trouble. And he killed the the other Jedi because they were scrubs not challenging at all.
    I mean I agree with everything, especially the plot armor/contrivance/non-logic, but some of the minutiae I feel actually can be believable.
    Such as the 'anti-mind reading mask', he is a Sith and can easily be lying about anything he says and it doesn't have to be taken as truth or factual lore. Unless we get his inner monologue, we have no way of knowing just how unreliable anything he says or does is.

      Even if I agree that you can't spam it, you can still use it. And they don't. The sith on the other hand he uses it quite frequently throughout the episode. I'd hazard a guess if I counted them up he used it more than every single other character combined.

    Honestly I’ve genuinely enjoyed the show and I’m waiting until the show is over before I criticize any plot holes. I think the director knows more about starwars than people give her credit for and the show as a concept sounds entertaining as hell. I think the pacing and slow delivery of information and the context we need has turned a lot of people away as well as years of Disney stepping on starwars. I think the response is a culmination of a lot of things and not JUST the show. I find myself looking forward to every episode despite the constant complaining. I’ve noticed there are some creators who don’t like the show and so they don’t recognize the good aspects of it. “ITS JUST BAD OKAY”
    I haven’t owned Disney plus since the book of boba, that was bad enough to make me step away from Disney but people speaking on the show have brought me back ironically.

      More so thank you for a well thought out and coherent response it's actually quite refreshing.
      Obviously I disagree with alot of what you have said, but that's OK, it's my opinion which is no more valid than yours.
      So all I will say is I hope before the end of the season that they actually attempt to answer the stories or deal with the glaring issues in such a way as makes sense for you so you can continue to enjoy it because I am past attempting the mental gymnastics required to get my head around how they are changing fundamentals and why that doesn't negatively impact what has come before.

      Absolutely! We all have our ideas of what starwars is and what that means to us. I’m sure you were smacking things with a lightsaber just as I was at a young age. I think my enthusiasm stems from wanting more starwars media. It’s fair to say some of their projects certainly aren’t intended directly for the fans of George Lucas starwars - there’s a part of me that worries they’ll step too far away too. I think I haven’t drawn that line in the sand yet but can respect when others have. I don’t disagree with all of your points, I’m just holding on and hoping.. maybe I’m delusional. I guess we’ll see huh lol 🤷🏻

      @@Dogmilk235 I'm surprised your so restrained. I'm just finishing editing my review of the finale and i've had to cut so much because its too bad for RUclips. You can even see the point in the video where I've lost the will to go on lol.
      You are completely right they have subverted ideas that would be identifiable by fans of Star wards but they have then changed how they work, or what they are so they actually aren't relatable at all.
      They have even gone as far as to Subvert the entirety of star wars as far as i am concerned. This is as this absolute joke of a series is now the cause for the entirety of the Star Wars universe. so now everything that was good about star wars is now potentially worsened because of how it is reliant on this show.
      I am choosing to agree with so many other fans. Star wars is basically the prequels and the OT and maybe rogue one and Andor. Everything else is non-fan fiction.

    Using a rotten tomatoes score has been apart of advertising for a decade now. And noone is paid to give positive reviews thats just not a thing that exists. You seem completely out of touch with how marketing works in 2024 or even 2014. Kinda cringe and embarrassing. Not that this is a good show but these points are silly.

    • @BanefulChronicles
      @BanefulChronicles  20 дней назад

      Firstly, you show me another supposed big production that uses rotten tomatoes within the first 5 seconds of a ad to try to justify why you should watch something and i might cede the point. But any big budget production has never had to resort to rotten tomatoes to try to sell it. As i said in the video even if you accept that.... its barely fresh and thats by critic standards.... critics who almost never actually have their finger on the pulse. As soon as you look at the audience scores.... well that freshness dissapears very quickly.
      Further to these these barely fresh reviews it is well known that outlets that consistently pan projects get their access revoked. That's why the usual suspects that have these positive reviews are the access media. To have a consistent number of these outlets, who rely on access to these shows in advance so people will read their reviews and they make money, only just give a show a fresh score is not exactly singing its praises if anything its more likely indicative of just how absolutely shocking a show is.....they just can't tell you it's that bad because if they do they might not get access to the next disney project.
      As for paid for reviews....Go to Google..... and put in rotten tomatoes paid review and at least pretend you have fact checked something before saying something doesn't exist. It's well documented that PR firms have been paying for reviews for exposure for projects for at least the last 5 years. It's also known that rotten tomatoes had to kick and ban critics to try to save their reputation when what has been suspected for years was proven last year.
      So before you accuse someone of being out of touch perhaps you should find the pulse.

    • @BanefulChronicles
      @BanefulChronicles  22 дня назад +2

      @@darkenkil4416 in the context of the entire universe the vast majority of what disney has produced has been, what only can be described as, universe breaking and If all of these supposed fans you deem as fake didn't watch any of disneys star wars content the viewing figures would be next to zero because that's the actual fandom.
      A real fan would be able to see that. they would actually understand what makes star wars what it is. Just like they would understand the universe that was built, the timeline it was set in and how the characters and events fit within that time chronologically. And regardless of whether this show is good or bad it 100% doesn't care about any of those things. Something a fan....(short for fanatic btw) would find unforgivable.
      Now i just have to say this show, if it wasn't star wars and was just a knock off, would still be horrendous.... but at least it wouldn't damage the storyline of the entire cinematic universe of everything that came before it.
      It's OK that you like this show and that I don't, but if you think that this show fits within the star wars universe then you are a fake fan.
      Theres a reason that the actual fans have turned against Disney.... there's a reason that significant proportions of the fandom have given up on disney and just enjoy the OT and the prequels. There's a reason that every star wars film and TV series has done progressively worse and worse with critics, general viewers and, in the case of the cinematic universe, at the box office.
      I'll leave it with you to figure it out though.
