I'm a big fan of dr Tim's products. I remember interview years ago when was put stuff out n learned lot. Anyone considering it just go for it. Won't be disappointed. Also the refresh n waste away combo works fantastic!
I'm going to try this product out on my 180 reef tank and do a video on my channel of a before and after in a 30 day period. Lol this is gonna take while to make but will keep you informed. Again thanks for all of ur help and bulkreefsupply.
Can this be used while using Active Pearls in a reactor ?. Also what works best Active Pearls or GFO in a reactor. My Active Pearls trial only been two weeks but not producing.
Since most of these bacterial supplements are proprietary blends, it's almost impossible to know for sure. We've had a lot of luck with both of them, so I don't think you can necessarily go wrong either way.
For initial nano reef cycle I was going to add Dr Tims to conditioned tap water (we have some of the best Tap water in my area). But Dr tims instructions say not to use conditioners that remove ammonia so I will have to use distilled. Is it only during the cycle that we are not allowed to use these types of conditioners? Are normal conditioners that remove ammonia safe to use in a post cycle, established tank? Thank you for the content!
Can somebody help me, I have little pink dots growing on my glass and a bit on my sand, is this cyano? I recently had a diatom bloom and the pink is really light?
You should definitely try posting some pictures and sending it to our #AskBRStv Facebook Group. There's a lot of knowledgeable reefers there who can help you ID it! brs.li/AskBRStvGroup
We haven't used Waste Away too much with diatoms as they most often show up in newer aquariums and go away on their own with good maintenance and time.
Be aware Waste Away will drop your po4 and no3 dramatically. In fact Dr. Tim's dino treatment needs better clarification. It will not work for Amphidinium dino as it will bottom out your nutrients, creating the perfect environment for Amphidinium Dinos. Both Dr. Tim and BRS should be careful when saying it will help treat Dino's as there are multiple strains and all require different treatments. Keep proper feeding, w/c schedule and you will not need products like these :)
That's a very old BRS tank that was taken down years ago. Unfortunately, I don't remember which lighting was used. For a small system like that, something like the Kessil A80 would work out great!
@@BRStv wow you responded! Dude you guys are awesome! Nah just seeing what reds, blues and whites were integrated to make that look. Have an AI myself and occasionally play with the lighting on the app for it.
Bulk Reef Supply no worries, it’s just gotten a little strange (and harder perhaps for us folks with some hearing difficulties) as if you’re shouting thinking the mic’s not picking you up or someone has made it a “style” at your guys end. Volume does not need to equal enthusiasm, there’s a comfortable middle ground. lol. BUT thank you for reading and replying, that is all this fan could ask. Love the vids otherwise.
Benifical bacteria is way under valued in my opinion. Just saying 1000 of years of bacterial evolution has any company beat on effectiveness and efficiency.
Spotlights are here to help you discover products you might not know about, and give you some details about them you might not find on the box. Ryan and Randy get into more in depth reefing topics like investigates, 5 minute guides, master series, and more. :)

I didn't realize Dr. TIMS made something like this... heading to the website now.
Thomas is great for BRS. His Big Al's videos were always great and helpful!

I always keep a bottle of Waste Away in my cupboard, with a weekly dose to keep the tank clean. Brilliant stuff.
Does it cause an increase in NO3 & PO4 in the water?
One of the videos about dr Tim’s shows using refresh until issue is gone then a weekly dose of waste away ?
Can this be used while using Active Pearls in a reactor ?. Also what works best Active Pearls or GFO in a reactor. My Active Pearls trial only been two weeks but not producing.
Can I use Chemipure elite with this product? Also, isnt there a second item that needs to be used with waste away? I think its called refresh?
Chemipure can be used with the Dr. Tim's products. You are correct that ReFresh is a popular product to be used in conjunction with the Waste Away 🙂
Can I run my UV sterilizer while using this products
Turn off the UV sterilizer for 48 hours when you dose Waste Away.
Why not use Re-fresh instead?
Re-Fresh and Waste-Away are commonly used together 🙂
@@BRStv but in what order ?
@@joec2174refresh then waste away
Anyone know if you can use this with Nopox? Thanks
How did it work with no pox?
Which was better Dr T or Vibrant?

What about if you have sand sifters stars? Will this compete for food sources?
In theory, it could. What you could do is start out by using half a dose. You can always add more.
Is a skimmer needed for this product?
A skimmer isn't 100% necessary, but a regular water change schedule will help :)
What is the difference in the salwater version and the saltwater reef version? Ammount of bacteria maybe?
What about when using a GFO reactor can this still be used
Yes. My suggestion would be to use less GFO than you think you need, test phosphates, and then adjust from there. It's always easier to add more!
@@BRStv thanks

Thank you for the content!
This is more than likely just referring to during the cycling stage as removing ammonia would effectively be removing the bacteria's food source.

Don’t you need to use Re fresh first ?
Re-Fresh is a great compliment to Waste-Away. A vast majority of Waste-Away users will also use Re-Fresh
