It's about as close to a modern James Taylor as we're going to get. A 'stop what you're doing and listen' voice, which is the highest compliment I can give.
@@ToddDouglasFox For me that's absolute fine. Josh just loves making music and spends a lot of time doing that. Whoever wants to enjoy his music is more than welcome to do so. I think he rather spends time with his music than reading and responding to comments.
I have never heard this song before. I am a child of the sixties and spent many hours in smoke filled coffee houses listening to music like this. It may well be a modern song but it took me back to my teens. Thank you and well done
go listen to the album Saint Bartlett as quickly as you can. Beginning to end it's a masterpiece. This song is not on it but it is one of the best things I've ever heard. And I'm kind of a snob about that stuff. He's got that thing that you can't fake. Like Townes Van Zandt.
Hats off to Kelly, walking backwards in the dark, with water puddles and other pedestrians coming. I see she had a spotter, but still, she held that camera steady.
According to Damien on his KEXP video, the song is not about Ohio, it's about New York. I want to thank you for bringing Damien into my world. I had never heard his music. Hard to believe but I have spent the last few days digging into his catalog. Excellent job on the cover, btw.
Josh Turner, one of the new adept and accomplished music people. I did music, but not now. I mourned the decline and loss, and then I see you guys, among others. The music is still strong. Keep on.
I play it too, my way, I'm so happy you covered it. Jurado is one of my favorite singers, among others lie Townes van Zandt, Christy Moore; Cash... Paul Simon. Wonderful, thanks from France.
I feel like song was meant to be heard live. I love seeing you play songs that make me revisit an album and remember why I liked it so much. Beautiful.
Started playing guitar 50 yrs ago and have always been a Paul Simon fan. Oh wait ,,I was in the other room and heard this song. I honestly thought Paul was singing. What a future you have with your music. What I notice the most about you is the Precision.
Damien moved to Seattle in 87??? I met him in 89 and started skating with him. Great dude and my life long friend. Anyway hes in California now Southern California. 🎸🤙🏼🌞🛹 Great cover JT.
when i was younger i was quite good at doing this kind of thing, (no, not walking in parks at night), but i could only dream, and often did, of being this good.
Wow nice! Didn't expect to see Damien Jurado show up here! Another awesome Jurado tune about Ohio is "Texas to Ohio" from the album Where Shall You Take Me? from 2003.
I was born and raised in Ohio, and I left as many do, but it still has a place in my heart, and I'm a sucker for a sweet Ohio tune. I'm sure you've heard the track Carry Me Ohio by Sun Kil Moon. If you haven't, it's another Ohio tune that'll get you.
All of this at once, impresses me alot. 1st, walking while playing, and singing.. not as easy as it appears.. Josh is making it look easy. No guitar strap either.. Keep on doing what you do, Man. We love it. EDIT: It was dark, and i missed the strap.
The economy of motion in that right hand picking is something I need to work on. Beautiful song and beautifully sung. Your voice has mellowed and become very pleasing.
Love this song, love that you dig Damien Jurado. He penned one of my favorite country-esqe heartbreak lyrics: "I stood alone there in the driveway Till I saw your headlights fade Disappear Burn out like stars A Chevrolet train that rolls in the night"
damien jurado needs to be more well known. I found him about a year ago under unfortunate circumstances and the album Saint Bartlett was literally written for the period In my life which I found it. I don't think I've ever ever had an album have that kind of a connection that quickly. I still haven't even gotten the other stuff yet. He's the real deal. He has that thing that you can't fake. great job on this one josh.
I like everything you do, however this kind of thing is my favorite of all: beautiful acoustic guitar (travis-picking is always a win) and simple, soulful singing. Nice. Gomna listen again!
This video already has over twice the views that Damien's second highest video has on his channel. If anyone is reading this please go listen to Damien Jurado. He's incredible
You have always been a good singer but I feel like in the last couple years you’ve become a GREAT singer.
Why isn’t he responding to such great comments?
You’re an outstanding singer and an exceptionally wonderful guitar player as well. So refreshing to listen to.

@@mennoemile1118 I’m not being effusive. I truly liked Ian’s comment. Not crazy about Josh’s music. I get to have preferences.
A guy with his guitar playing and singing over the cacophony of frogs and crickets. Live music can’t get any better than this.
I have never heard this song before. I am a child of the sixties and spent many hours in smoke filled coffee houses listening to music like this. It may well be a modern song but it took me back to my teens. Thank you and well done

Kellly truly makes beautiful videos. Glad we get to see her art alongside Josh's music
I wonder if she has a stabilizer
You don't know that. She might have walked forwards with the camera strapped to the back of her head. Amazing that she kept him in frame.
@@helmanfrow Well, I cheated. I read the description, so I know she had a spotter.
@@helmanfrow She probably did, thought the same thing.
Loving the "live out in the field" vibe in this video. As always, beautiful performance Josh and camera work by Kelly!
Beautiful - amongst the choir of cicadas (and frogs?). Bravo.
Those are katydids and crickets you hear.
Never heard this song. Really liked it. Nice cover and great complimentary background noise.

Genius, just genius. The song, the setting, the mood, the lighting, the whole idea, just wonderful. I'm inspired.
Never rests on his laurels. Always something new. Perfect early 2000s music vid in one take.
This song is so underrated. I can't tell you how thrilled I am to hear someone covering this song in such a beautiful way. You sir, have my respect!
Josh you have a great gift of being able to channel your feelings to the listener and make them feel the songs. Always a fan.
Josh Turner, one of the new adept and accomplished music people. I did music, but not now. I mourned the decline and loss, and then I see you guys, among others.
The music is still strong. Keep on.
Josh plays so many styles so amazingly well, but the greatest gift is watching his own style gradually emerge. It's a bright, bright future.
I just moved home to Colorado after 35 years in Charlottesville, and I never imagined myself actually missing the cicadas. But I do.
Good piece.
The cicadas are my favorite Josh Turner collaborator.
Way more people need to know about Damien Jurado, this helps.
I can't say how many times I've listened to this and watched it. Brilliant!
I have never heard this song. How beautiful!
Beautiful rendition, Josh. The background noise really adds an extra layer too.
I play it too, my way, I'm so happy you covered it. Jurado is one of my favorite singers, among others lie Townes van Zandt, Christy Moore; Cash... Paul Simon. Wonderful, thanks from France.
I feel that this perfectly fits into Josh’s Style
I had never heard this song before and now I listen to it several times a day. Beautifully sung.

I have never heard that song before. It is a very nice song. You play and sing it wonderfully! Thank you.
Loved the crickets and cicadas percussive accompaniment.
Shades of Paul Simon...I love it!

Great song, great voice, Paul Simon in waiting
I remember that I’ve been listening to your music for more than ten years. You are one of my most favorite acoustic musician including the voice.
I love this song, love your music, and am from Ohio
It brings to mind, so many great folk artists!

Damien is great! Everyone go check his discography if you haven't.
It’s a huge discography as well!
You have grown so much as a singer and guitar player! Do you have a fantastic voice and style?
You and that Josh Turner Tammany D’Angelico sound fantastic!
(My beloved JT Tammany also continues to shine)
As an Ohioan I highly approve this cover! Thanks Josh.
Did you pay the background singers? 😂 Wonderful song Josh thanks for sharing with us!
Josh has a very peculiar voice with tones that captivate you.

I wish (from Holland) I had been around during your recording: shivers down my spine...
Very cool! omg, the sound of night was excellent. you forget about it and get lost in the sauce.
