    Upon my request and suggestion, STIHL in 2019/2020 updated the spring tension mechanism. It is the same heavy-duty gauge spring but it has been tweaked to now only have 3 coils instead of 5. It is now much easier to load right out of the box and there is now NO break-in time as there was with the original heavy-duty spring. I highly recommend this trimmer head, it is well designed, heavy-duty in quality, and all-around better-made construction, and you get a much more precise cut. 👍🏻

    I must have lucked out on my Autocut C-26-2 head. Disassembled then reassembled it. Took off the head, examined it, put it back on. I de-spooled the line, then re-spooled it. Never had a problem with it not feeding when bumped.

    I like the head works well. The one thing I made was a U-Shaped tool to help with winding. It really saves the fingers. Also I have shortened the 0.105 line to a max of 18 feet. It works better in the head while winding.

    I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ruclips.net/user/postUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

    I just purchased an FC50 CE trimmer new from a dealer, and in the instruction manual it had me cutting two separate lengths of line as if my trimmer head was a c 25 even though it's very clearly a c 26. Confused the hell out of me for a while when it wouldn't advance any string.

    I took the remainder of the orange .095 line out of the head of my new FS-56RCE after I had put about a half a tank of gas through my new weedeater this morning and replaced it with the tougher orange and black trimmer line from Stihl. I guess it took me 15. Minutes to get the old line out and the new line in and that included blowing out the spool and cleaning off the guard byremoving all the grass clippings.

  • @NickRatnieks
    @NickRatnieks 4 года назад +1

    Let's hope it is that easy when I do it. I bought one of these recently and my only complaint is that stupid little cowl. Since using this trimmer I have been covered in the trimmings as it just does not shield you properly. In fact, I have cut up a plastic oil bottle to augment the titchy cowl. Why Stihl cannot provide a decent sized cowl is beyond me- my previous machines had an adequate one. As currently designed, this trimmer is the tick spreader par excellence.

    my C 26-2 line will not feed straight in and out; it starts to feed round the internal spool. Arrows aligned with groove. In the video looks like the line goes in then out at other side. Whats wrong with my head? It doesnt look damaged internally

    • @stihlusa
      @stihlusa  3 года назад

      Hello Richard,
      With the arrows aligned you should be able to see through the small hole and out the other side. If you can't then something is blocking it (grass, trimmer line, dirt......etc) or could be damaged. If you can't see any types of blockage then you could remove the spool to further inspect. If you have any further questions send us a message on Facebook and we would be glad to go over it further with you!

      @@stihlusa Thank you very much for your reply, After viewing another video about manually rewinding. I took it apart. Although I could not see any blockage in the holes clearly there must have been something as I then was able after reassembly; to wind the line without any problem. I am impressed by the design, and greatly impressed that you replied providing an answer to my problem.

    These heads are super tough, I was cutting long, thick grass the other day almost flat out on my FS250, and I hit a rock, it must have caught the rock on one of the indentations on the tap section, so hard that the white cover was smacked right off - it was only a few days old so I'm like, Damm its busted - no it wasn't, I just clipped it back on, I was amazed that the entire head didn't shatter - They are built like a tank.
    Edit: The version we have in our country cannot be loaded like this one can, you have to manually load mine, and the packaging is genuine Stihl from a Stihl agent/dealer - STIHL Autocut C26 - 2, but no way you can thread the line through the head.

    upgraded to a AutoCut C 6-2 head and using the orange thread but still cannot rewind the spool. video needs to be more detail on this subject and the head that comes on the trimmer with the green thread does not feed and breaks and the orange which is the maximum you can use with trimmer no good either. Turner Ace Hardware where trimmer was purchased says Stihl has to approve returns on items, first have to leave for them to see if they can repair, so did that, but same thing, am going to try to return again, have tried 3 times now to weed eat/trim my yard with no success.

      Greg Richard on my Stihl, if the line is too long, the FS90R won’t power up enough to cut the line automatically. It just bogs and I need to manually cut the line to proper length.
