    Nice collection! Would love to see you try some of Old Forester's higher-shelf expressions. The 1910 and 1920 are both well worth your time. Some folks even blend them together into 'Old Forester 1915'. Jealous of your Campbeltowns!
    Cheers from the US!

      Cheers! I have an Old Forester 1897 and Old Forester Statesman coming to the channel at the end of the year, but the 1910, 1920 and the "1915" have been on my want list for a good while, I just need to refrain from buying too many bottles before others have been depleted. But they will come! Cheers!

    Nice overview.
    Genuinely interested in the Jim Beam Single barrel, I almost got one during the Amazon prime day sale but decided against it.
    You should keep an eye out for the JD Triple Mash on special offer. That’s a really interesting blend from them.

      I have tried it! And I agree with you it is an excellent pour - I need to get a bottle for the shelf really, I get a bit over-exposed to it as it's produced in the area of Scotland I frequently visit so all their shops and bars have it all the time, but it is one I think more people need to know about. I think their branding is so strong many traditional enthusiasts may see it as something more commercialised but yes, I rate it! Cheers!

    What don't you like about Penderyn 😆!? I usually have a Sherrywood or Madeira on the go... Admittedly I'd drink more beer than whisky so perhaps I'm easily pleased!

    • @TheCrumbyBeard
      @TheCrumbyBeard  3 месяца назад

      I know many people who really really like it so it's absolutely a preference thing. I've only tried two of theirs I think and whilst they absolutely don't taste _bad_ I just find them lacking real depth so I get bored of it really quickly. I should give it another go soon just to validate my thoughts again tbf! Cheers!

    What are your thoughts on that Glen Scotia 11 white port ?

    • @TheCrumbyBeard
      @TheCrumbyBeard  3 месяца назад

      Ah the Campbeltown Malts Festival bottle from 2023 - that is my favourite of the Glen Scotia's I have at the moment. Loads of Campbeltown funk but the soft sweetness from the white port cask just elevates it again - makes it probably more accessible but without detracting from the core style. I compare all three of those Glen Scotia bottles in this video if you want to know more, cheers! ruclips.net/video/yP74HIzO2CY/видео.html

      @@TheCrumbyBeard Grand. I keep the occasional empty tin/box too. I can't use the same justification as you though, so it's just clutter in my case. 😉 To be fair, I did do a bit of a purge not too long ago.

    are you not a fan of the peat then? was surprised not to see any Ardbeg, Kilchoman, Laphroaig, Port Charlotte etc...

    • @TheCrumbyBeard
      @TheCrumbyBeard  3 месяца назад +1

      I don't dislike the flavour, and some of the Campbeltown bottles have a decent amount of peated character but heavily peated drams almost always give me chronic heart burn, which is really unfortunate. I can tell a good one from a bad one but difficult to give honest reviews when it discomfort! 😅

    • @AlexH-b3o
      @AlexH-b3o 3 месяца назад +1

      That's fair and thanks for the reply. Was just interested - always been quite into a Laphroaig but went to Islay for a few days last year and have fallen down a peat hole since then. Generally, I'm very jealous of your collection. Thanks for the great video

    • @TheCrumbyBeard
      @TheCrumbyBeard  3 месяца назад

      You're not wrong there! I've been going by two different approaches. Big Occasion == Big Bottle, and a bad day calls for good whisky, since a good day is good regardless of the dram. But you're right, waiting is a bit silly!
