Give me all the Middle West! They are amazing. I’d recommend starting with their base rye and then go to the cask strength. Their wheated bourbon is unreal too!!
I'm right there with you, I'm a huge fan of theirs as well! 🥃 Definitely, if you're someone new to Bourbon or Rye, start at a lower proof and work your way up to the cask strength. But I agree, they are doing some amazing things. That wheater I had frkm them this year at Cask Strength was amazing, I was very surprised by it. Cheers, buddy, and thanks for watching and sharing 🥃
Great video Scott. I really loved the JD barrel proof rye. It’s amazing. That Hard Truth “cigar blend” was also amazing. That was the one I was going to pick up for you that day at the distillery. The Middle West SiB Pumpernickel Rye pick was also in my top five. Even though it was low proof, the Bulleit 12 Year Rye was fantastic. I can’t forget the Old Overholt 11 Year.
Happy to see Corbin Cash getting some love - they make some really great and unique Rye. Same with Middle West - I just love their Michelone Reserve and "regular" release of the Dark Pumpernickel Rye, so I'm on the lookout for the Cask Strength version. JD SiBBP Rye just delivers on so many fronts for value and flavor, and I agree that I think I will always have one on hand.
The JDSBBP is such a great rye. I also really enjoyed some of our local WI distilleries’ ryes this year, some Driftless rye picks I got are hitting 8yrs and the Limosin LE rye at 10yrs was great also. I noticed I was buying a lot more ryes this year than in previous years….
Thanks for sharing your experience with WI ryes, I'm always looking to try new ones! OnWisconsin, nice to see a local guy in the comments. Reach out any time! mybourbonjourney01@gmail.com Cheers 🥃
Totally agree with you on Toasted Ryes one of the best finishes for Rye; maybe only second to Port. Some Toasted Ryes I really enjoyed this year were: Peerless Double Oaked Rye, Buzzards Roost, New Riff, K Luke Toasted Rye, Michters. Hell I even enjoyed the EC Toasted Rye; not amazing but its tasty. Jay West even did a pick with Barrell that was a Seagrass Toasted and that was a big hit.
The top 5 Rye's of 2024. Now you have my attention. I have some Christmas money burning a hole in my pocket and what better thing to buy than a few bottles. I just ordered a ASW and a Hughes Bros. The HB was a 7 year pick from the supplier and their tasting notes sounded absolutely delicious. Thanks Scott for your great content and wishing you much success in 2025 and years beyond. Cheers!
I just started getting into ryes late in the year. Found several that I love. In fact Sagamore 9yr, Pursuit United Double Oak rye, Bardstown single barrel rye Seelbach's #1 and Jack Daniels SiBBP rye Whiskey Row pick were in my top 10 whiskeys of the year.
Sounds like you had a great year for whiskey discoveries! Cheers, and thanks for sharing your favorites. 🥃 as always, thanks again for all the support Steve, glad you're a part of it all. Good things will be happening in 2025.
I see a lot of ryes I'd like to try on your list. I love Third Colony, New Riff, Redwood and Michters, but my fave you should seek out is little known Silver Springs Sweet Rye out of Chattanooga TN. Single barrel and cask strength, the casks differ quite a bit along a spectrum from a deep sweet rye to pure apricot jam. I have tried a dozen barrels and barrel numbers in the 12000 range have been particularly the fabulous.
Hey Eric, thanks for watching and sharing some whiskeys that you also enjoy! I'll have to take a look at what you suggested silver springs Sweet Rye, actually havents heard of it. Cheers 🥃
Great list Scott, this year definitely seem like there was a lot of Rye whiskeys put out, a lot of fantastic ones. I am a huge hard-truth fan they're doing fantastic things. Cheers to you and look forward to a great 2025.
Local costco did a cedar ridge toasted rye cask strength finished in honey barrel store pick. Im glad I backed up this bottle. Definately not a casual pour!
I have more single barrels of JD rye (14) than any whiskey released over the last two years. I can’t get enough of it and most of those single barrels (different flavor profiles, too) often crushed rye’s 2-3x the price in blinds. If anyone asks what’s the one readily available bottle at most stores and at a decent price to introduce a new American whiskey drinker to, it’s a JD BP rye, single barrel. And a JD BP, single barrel bourbon, isn’t far behind but the rye is exceptional. I rated it many points better on nose, taste AND finish than the Van Winkle 13 rye.
I’m right there with you, I got about 30 bottles between the rye and whiskey JDSBBP. I would say it beats a lot of stuff that’s multitudes more expensive . It’s always available and I have seen it for as low as $55. Best value right now in my book too 🤙
@joshcombe440 it's an incredible value and for a whiskwy like that to now be on the shelf, we're lucky and it's proof that there are some amazing bottles on the shelf. Cheers 🥃
Scott, great Top5. Those JD BP ryes are amazing. Gifted the JD Special Release Double Barreled Rye to my sister and they LOVED it. All the BEST in 2025.
If you live near Ohio it's all over shelves for around 70$. I believe Seelbach's has done a pick of it as well but it's probably sold out. I just bought one about two weeks ago now and I really enjoy it.
I'm not sure I've even heard of Far North! Do you mean Found North? If not, I'm not aware of Far North, but I'm always willing to give something a try! Cheers, and thanks for watching and sharing 🥃
Check out my Tof 5 Bourbons of 2024 cheers 🥃👇ruclips.net/video/rC3IxPyUdwQ/видео.html

totally agree with you on the Jack Rye,,,,,,,, hands down best and best value,,,,,,,,,,,
I also really like that ASW Fiddler Toasted Rye. My favorite this year was probably the Pinhook Vertical Rye, or maybe New Riff Malted Rye 6.
Great video Scott. I really loved the JD barrel proof rye. It’s amazing. That Hard Truth “cigar blend” was also amazing. That was the one I was going to pick up for you that day at the distillery. Nice list, Scott. Looking forward to trying a Corbin Cash this year. I have the MW Ported Pumpernickel CS Rye and it's phenomenal. Cheers!
Cheers to that Roger! You have great taste, but i already knew that! 🥃 I hope you had a great Holiday season! Thanks for watching and sharing
Love the JD BP rye. Sagamore BP and broadleaf would be up there for me too. Been dying to try that pumpernickel.
I wish I would have gotten a bottle of the Sagamore 9 year, typically I love them as well. Cheers, and thanks for watching and sharing 🥃
I am seeing middle west rye come up several times in top 10. Definetly my next pick up.
100% worth it! Thanks for watching! Cheers 🥃
Those are all amazing choices, Scott! Cheers🥃
Cheers Doug, and thanks for watching! 🥃 I hope you had a great Holiday season!
Local costco did a cedar ridge toasted rye cask strength finished in honey barrel store pick. Im glad I backed up this bottle. Definately not a casual pour!
That’s a great find, I’ve heard those honey barrel finishes can be amazing! 🥃 thanks for watching and sharing
Been a big fan of the MW Dark Pumpernickel Rye for the last 2 yrs. Haven't been able to get my hands on a Cask Strength yet!!
It's definitely worth seeking out! It's an incredible Rye! Cheers, and thanks for watching 🥃
Great list! Thank you!
Thanks for watching, I appreciate it! Cheers 🥃

I'm glad you and your sister enjoyed that one! Cheers to the new year! 🥃
Any idea where to find that Middlewest cask strength rye?
If you live near Ohio it's all over shelves for around 70$. I believe Seelbach's has done a pick of it as well but it's probably sold out. I just bought one about two weeks ago now and I really enjoy it.
@@noworldforeric In Northern California and nothing online or in stores out here.
Seelbach's handles some Middle West but they are out of stock now. They had a Pumpernickel barrel pick that must have been a good one. (sold out)
Have you tried any ryes from Far North? I think they are excellent and unique
I'm not sure I've even heard of Far North! Do you mean Found North? If not, I'm not aware of Far North, but I'm always willing to give something a try! Cheers, and thanks for watching and sharing 🥃
Not technically a rye, but drinks like one… Little Book Chapter 8 was REALLY good
I'm glad you're enjoying it! That's the most important thing! Cheers, and thanks for watching and sharing 🥃
Elijah Craig Straight Rye Whiskey!
Bulleit 12 for me. Cheaper and older than every rye on your list
As long as you like it, that's all the counts! Drink what you like. Cheers and thanks for watching 🥃
