I'm an aircraft mechanic in the USAF. FOD is Foreign Object Debris, which could mean screws, hardware, rocks, etc that could damage an aircraft engine or get lodged in a flight control to jam it. Those coveralls had sealing pockets (velcro, zippers, or buttons) to keep hardware from falling out.
Brown gloves are flyers gloves and the white nomex gloves are the inserts for them. The camo pattern on the winter whites is someone took their laundry bag as a stencil and added some slight camo. The white ties on the winter white top is probably a sniper adding attachments for winter ghillie cam. Green mittens were part of the cold weather gloves system along with the shooter mittens , all old 1950’s stock that I got issued in the late 90’s. The black gloves are the pilots cold weather flight gloves.
Those black winter rubber covers should work great to waterproof mukluks during wet cold periods. Do they fit over the mukluk shell or as a replacement to the shell?
Bit late to this video, but I recently bought a crate from Trenton also, and got a bunch of helicopter tactical pants. I want to know what those two plastic clips are in the pockets... any idea?
The 1954 leather mittens was what you wore as an outer layer above the wool “salt & pepper” mitts during winter exercises as a work glove when you did not require the arctic mitts.
FOD is foreign object damage. Its an air force term for something going down the engine or getting dropped etc into an aircraft and causing damage to the aircraft. The overalls don't have buttons that can fall off into an aircraft and all fasteners are probably velcro. When you go into an aircraft hanger you will always be told to "DE-FOD" by taking everything out of your pockets and removing anything that could drop or fall off you and Bury itself in an aircraft
The tall black boots with the zipper and leather string in the back are women's dress boots. We ordered them from Logistik with our points. The gloves with black leather palms and brown outer were issued to the air force. Not bad for driving but don't keep your hands warm in northern AB!
When these are disassembled all of the nylon components can be separated from the frame. I throw everything but the frame in my washing machine and turn on every option it has.
I’m on my second pair of mk5 Royer boots. I wear them when working in our broiler chicken barn and during the summer. The rest of the time I wear mk4 boots when not in dunlops.
The steel toed boots seem to have a common failure in the tread coming away from the boot. I picked up a pair of them, and both boots had the tread pull away. Fixed it up nicely with a product off of Amazon called "Shoe Goo" Once applied, my boots were as good as new. Not sure how much the boots 'should' cost new, but I picked them up from a surplus shop for under $70, and the shoe goo was another $15.
I have the hot weather safety boot that has the vent dots on the upper, Never seen the model for sale often but they're awesome, My buddy had them before me and it's they've had about 5 years between us. Also, The Heli suit stuff you got is Fire Resistant, Made of nomex
I think someone in the QM at 424 Sqn is looking at all the helicopter pants going... hey wait a minute... lol Nice find in the bivvy and the sleeping bags.
Hi Roger. Are you referring to suspenders that held the ammunition belt (webbing)? If so there was suspenders on both the 64 and 82 pattern webbing, the 64 would likely be the most similar.
@@rogerclemmons8652 the 64 pattern suspenders are going to be hard to find, they have been out of service for a long time and are very rare. The 82 pattern suspenders are very common and inexpensive. Any surplus store would likely to have them, I don't know what area you are in but Army Issue Surplus in Port Credit will likely have them and is a good guy to deal with.
I enjoy these videos. Actually, I enjoy all your videos. 🤔 You should post more often... I find militsry surplus clothing is usually so small - I guess military age guys then to be thinner and smaller than me. That said, I'd love to buy a pair of mukluks.
Gcsurplus must be a inside bidders to raise the price or the idiot bidders don’t do their homework before start bidding. For example other day 2010 dodge caravan with 90k km went for $6500.00 crappy look, same van on kijiji and auto trader in mint condition with safety for $4300 149k km

This was hilarious! Very cool stuff and you presented fantastically.
Thanks for the education and humour Tell.
Thank you

Those desert boots with thick treads are indeed for de mining operations to minimize injuries from anti personnel and IEDs.
Looks like a lot of fun in that box. Thanks for making this!

I think they would have to be a replacement.
What a crazy haul....🎉🎉

David Clark muffs are great I picked up a pair 30 years ago and still use them at the range.

Great hall once again Tell. That 82 patterned ruck, how do you clean it up?
Nate

The kit bag without the tab for the zipper can be easily remedied by putting a thin zap strap through the knob part. Good as new.
How do you purchase the surplus boxes?
I used my credit card.

I remember being told the Mark 3 boots were actually Kodiak Grebs, but they certainly don't match modern Grebs. One of my favourite boots of all time
I ❤️ surplus! Keep making these videos!
On my trip to to Canada i regret not picking a pair of those ecw coveralls, they were my size and everything

does canada have an equivalent to the US m1956 field suspenders?

those " old style " combat boots were little more than a 2x4 wrapped in leather !
You're not wrong.
Google tells me that FOD in work wear / safety clothing stands for Foreign Object Debris
was just about to say this, mainly is a problem for aircrafts and such
i wouldn't mind having one of those bibs/(you called it cover all) waist size 36.
