Hi Rob, awesome video, you done a a great job on this one,the first take was nice although being pink it looked different, the second time is brilliant seeing all the colours in the paint, and also the engine bouncing up and down sets it off.
Great work I like the detailing that you do at the end like headlights etc. Adds so much to the final look of the toy even if it's not like original which means that original is not always the best 👍
Nice wheel choice as early MK 1 Capris came with a 4 spoke Rostyle wheel(MGBs also used a version of this wheel) and American muscle cars of mid 60s to early 70s mimicked the look with their 5 spoke "Magnum 500" wheels(which your beautiful Hot Rocker Capri has). Well done sir!
You're very welcome Rob! Glad i was able to help out. Looks brilliant! Excellent wheel choice too. With a V8 that big,in a little lightweight car like that it would literally MELT the tires off the back.🤣🤣🤣🤣. Guaranteed HANDFUL to drive. Lol
Looks great, Rob!! I really like the chameleon paint job. Different light and different angles gives it an interesting look!! Never know what color you'll see next!! 👍👍👍
The Red-Line shop sells a Black Vinyl paint that dries with the appearance of a vinyl top. It looks good on interiors as it mimics a leather finish fairly well. Nice job on the car. Cheers, TOM USA
I did a lot of miles in a K reg 3.0 Capri, a dealership demonstrator. These things were *SO* tail-happy, every roundabout was a game of chance - great fun to drive though. That paint is stunning Rob, although I'm not seeing very much "Royal Burgundy". Great job on the lights too.👍 Rob W seems well pleased with it and that's the main thing. Luvvly Jubbly!! Cheers for now,🍻🎅, Dougie.
👍👍👍 Great job for the finish, I agree on the first color but the finish is awesome 👏👏👏, thanks for sharing and"Howdy from Texas 😁" BTW Merry Christmas to you and your family 🎄
Back in the '80s, there was a Kool-Aid powdered drink mix flavor called The Great Bluedini. The powder was antifreeze green, but when you mixed it with sugar and water, the resulting beverage was the color of Windex. The flavor could best be described as "blue". This pink paint that does different things when sprayed onto a black background kind of reminds me of that. :)
Pearls, colorshifts, candys, anything with even a slight level of translucency can have very diff end results depending on basecoat color. And COLORSHIFT/Chamelion paint works by allowing light to pass thru and reflect thru diff layers and light spectrums. neat stuff actually. Base coats can bring out alot of variance sometimes
Very nice indeed. I was wondering... Any chance of doing a custom of a classic Matchbox - the Lincoln Continental, for example, with that wild paint, and a wheel change, just to see how it looks?
It's weird, that iteration of the car was just the Capri here in the US. It was sold at Lincoln-Mercury dealerships. Nowhere on the car did it say Mercury. There wasn't a "Mercury Capri" until the 1979 model year when it shared bodies with the Mustang.
Yes, sold as it's own brand, Capri. I owned a Capri in high school(early 1980s) and the pink slip(registration papers) had under the maker line "CAPRI" and under model line "CAPRI" as well. I miss that car!
Hahaha! You're a perfectionist, old son. And it does you great credit. Not to be pedantic old bean, but isn't that a mk 2 Capri? There was a very tasty Ford Capri in the 1960s. That's a very nice custom.
The North American market got this vehicle as the First Generation Mercury Capri. Oddly enough, the North American Second Generation Mercury Capri actually, as well as ironically, was a badge swapped Fox Body Ford Mustang. Stranger still, Mexico got its own version of the Fox Body Ford Mustang from 1982 to 1984 that used a combination of USA/Canada Fox Body Ford Mustang and North American Second Generation Mercury Capri parts. Also, yes, people in North America have been turning the Ford/Mercury Capri as muscle/drag cars as well, and ditto for the First Generation Opel GT/Opel GT by Buick as well. Finally, as well as, once again, ironically enough, the dimensions of the Ford Capri/First Generation Mercury Capri are actually around the dimensions of the Fox Body Ford Mustang in the terms of size, and ditto for the Ford Maverick/Fourth Generation Mercury Comet (which are also another pair of vehicles that have been increasingly popular in turning into muscle/drag cars in recent years, not just in the North American market, but also worldwide).
Words can't describe this custom. Absolutely amazing; the paint and wheels suit it perfectly. Well beyond expectations!
I'm glad you like it Rob 😎 I will have it in the post to you shortly 👍🏼
@@MatchboxGarage thank you good sir 😉
I have to say, one of the prettiest paint jobs I’ve ever seen
Super danke für die vielen Ideen zum restaurieren Matchbox bzw Hotwheels Spielzeug Autos 👍

Hi Rob, awesome video, you done a a great job on this one,the first take was nice although being pink it looked different, the second time is brilliant seeing all the colours in the paint, and also the engine bouncing up and down sets it off.

I just got this casting with a lot I bought online. Now I have some inspiration to get moving on it. Great job and thanks for sharing.
That Capri is a looker. The second go around with the colour change paint really looks awesome. Nice!
Nice job. Indeed the color is amazing how it changes with the light.
i tell you what, that looks brilliant . Well done!
These are great! I had the yellow taxi version of this Capri, the aftermarket wheels really transform these Matchbox cars.
I think visibility might be slightly obscured by that block... but only a little
Great work I like the detailing that you do at the end like headlights etc. Adds so much to the final look of the toy even if it's not like original which means that original is not always the best 👍
Beautiful commission build. The paint job is awesome.
AWESOME paint job, Rob! 👍☺✌
Beautiful restoration brother
Great job Rob, can’t wait to see the next paint job, New paint is looking real interesting.
It turned out really nice, great color and wheels 👍👍😊
Nice wheel choice as early MK 1 Capris came with a 4 spoke Rostyle wheel(MGBs also used a version of this wheel) and American muscle cars of mid 60s to early 70s mimicked the look with their 5 spoke "Magnum 500" wheels(which your beautiful Hot Rocker Capri has). Well done sir!
How ironic that the ‘pound shop’ interior only needed one coat 😂 Worth the effort Rob, outstanding job as always 😉👍
Looks great. Love the paint
The colour on that is amazing!!!!
Lol
Thanks again George
Looks beautiful mate, well done
Nice painjob Rob. It's not just the engine that poppin'.
Yeah man, another great life saving restoration!
What an absolute gem. My original was a pale metallic apple green
Looks great, Rob!! I really like the chameleon paint job. Different light and different angles gives it an interesting look!! Never know what color you'll see next!! 👍👍👍
Really liking that paint.
Excellent custom Ford Capri 👏👏👏👏👏
Good call on that first color, nothing like doing all that work just to start over. Worth it though, looks unreal!
These paints are amazing, I was convinced you were gonna detail that big beautiful engine...
nice colour and wheels!! job well done!!
Good job! I love the Ford Capri!
Wow, from where it started I did not expect such a great result.
What a nice Custom 👍 Good Job
Came out beautiful, love the red stripe wheels too.

Sweet final job on the paint!😍 That engine has a whole lot of horsepower !!! Gonna need fresh tires very quickly on that Capri beastie!
I did a lot of miles in a K reg 3.0 Capri, a dealership demonstrator. These things were *SO* tail-happy, every roundabout was a game of chance - great fun to drive though.

That's mint! Doing a catch up up videos.
Yep I Like , going to have to get some of those color shift paints in the new year thanks Rob
It looks very nice :-). Well done .
Very groovy color. Love how the car came out.
I definitely like the results.
Wicked cool Capri! 🍻
That car needs to be displayed on one of those little turntables, to get the color change effect...very well done!
Cool Rob love Capri 😎👍👍👍👍👍
Super nice one!
Nicely done

Clever idea with using the pin on the wheel to maintain the gimmick. Simple but ingenious
Ha haa ha i love the percentages cracks me up! Ford capri absolutely love this car what a model. Love the colour. Excellent vids appreciate them all
The body paint is incredible. I do wish, though, that you had painted the blower belt black for contrast.
In South Africa we got Capri Perana which was a Capri with a V8 that was fitted here
Remember this one was lethal on the road last one I saw was in late 90's running against the RX7
Nice one Rob

Arthur Daley would have been proud of that car, a right looker ;-)
Looking good rob l like the colour '.
Lookin good good job
wow wow wow and another wow!
Very nice indeed. I was wondering... Any chance of doing a custom of a classic Matchbox - the Lincoln Continental, for example, with that wild paint, and a wheel change, just to see how it looks?
I did a Lincoln early this year in satin black. Will do another one one day
Like it especially the wheels 🙂👍👍
Great job.
Very cool! I agree.
wow what a change !
Hermoso trabajo
Very cool one.
Spot on! 👏🏻
Seriously cool
oh yes I had this one!
👍 looking good.
Except for that ridiculous big Motor the car looks beautiful. The changing of the colores are awesome.
Great work Rob. Actually the Capri is closer to the Ford Torino in the USA and the Ford Falcon (Mad Max) in Australia
You even got the roll a matic engine to work again!!

I trust your judgement for mk2. It's a few years before my time..
No, defo a mk1
😂😂😂yeah! Gotta be an old git to remember them.
Love it 👍🏻🔥🤘🏻
looks nice
I would really love to see a two tone job with one of those color shifting paints
@15:30 now thats one cool looking hot rod muscle car, mate!
💖💖

I have 2 maroon they have suspension, car looks very good
i liked the first color
I don't want to ride this kind of car, the bouncing motor will pose a problem soon or later ... 😁😁😁 Nice job Rob'👍
