I do soak mine in boiling water until cooled. The boiling water lets all of those paper fibers come out, and the plates are sparkling clean. I've tried just hot tap water, and that does not release those embedded fibers. Since I've started using the anna griffin Empress and the spellbinders machine, I've had no warping of the plates, so the soak in boiling water is only for the fiber removal. I do put them in a large cookie sheet pan, poor the water over the top, and weigh them down with a heavy pan filled with water. Soak until cooled. Dump, rinse, and marvel over my clean plates. Of course, I only every cut into one plate and keep the other plate pristine. I do love your tip videos! Well, I love all of them!
I use the Made to surprise desk tidy vacuum to get those chads and little paper bits off the plates. If the cardstock is still in the die after cutting, run the vacuum over the back, and the bristles poke out the bits and they get sucked up into the vacuum, or if it has come out, gently run the vacuum over the back of the die cut. And it also helps to clean up the plates too.
Until I started using something similar to the Magic Mat, I used one of those poly pockets that you use in folders as a shim. Really helps protect the cutting plate.
The tape is a great idea!!
i put mine in the dishwasher and it gets them lovely and clean and straightens them out slightly xxxx
Wow thanks I would never think of that x
Do you lay them flat or upright when you place them in the dishwasher?
@@liaellis2355I would also like to know.
Thanks for the advice.

I use cheap alcohol rub. Does the job and smells good!!! Removes any sticky spots too.

I use the Magic Mat and never have any warped or scratched plates any more!
Thanks Lou!
Brilliant. Thank you so much ❤
I put my plates in dishwasher keeps them free of debris and they stay straight longer as well
I used to clean in the sink with a scouring brush until I started putting them in the dishwasher!
Is that in the top rack of the dishwasher or can the plates be washed in the lower rack?
Mine go in the dishwasher then just brush dust off with my hand.
