Twi suggestions: With a stamp press, using a sticky mat would provide some cushion and keep the plate from moving around. With the gel press, creating a little handle with masking-type tape to lift the letterpress plate from the gel plate would facilitate clean piate pick up.
As an alternative to buying foil Here's a budget friendly suggestion: I save potato chip bags, life saver bags, nutritional bar, & candy labels.... Clean 'm up & let 'm air dry You'll have lots of silver foil for all your projects. it's so very pretty. I found gold in the water filter wrapper 😮🎉🎉yay🎉 😁 Hope this helps ... 😁
FANTASTIC! I.thought there MUST be a way to do this, and I had not thought it through yet. THANKS SO MUCH! Have seen many letterpress plates I've wanted, and this sets me free to get a few!!!
Love this video! I don't have the letterpress but have a few plates and didn't know how to use them. Your video is to the point and informative! Thank you!😊😊
If you use the Sizzix crease mat rather than a rubber mat you get much better letter press results. The debossing is much clearer. This is a £10 mat and gives as good results as the Betterpress machine.
@@vanessam4196 I found that pad easily. It’s at many places. I’ll have to try that instead of the rubber. Thank you so much for your help! God bless you. Happy Thanksgiving!
I made an online mistake purchase. I didn’t know anything about press plates until I accidentally bought a few. Oops 😢 now I know how I can use them without buying the tool.
I’ve been thinking of investing but that means much out of my budget! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with these plates! I love the designs so many companies have! This opens a whole new option! Oh dear…
Thanks so much! I've received some sets that had letterpress/foil plates, but I do not have a letterpress or foiling setup. Now I can put the plates to good use!
These are terrific ideas! I am excited to try these techniques with my press plates! I recently downsized to a Platinum Scout machine and was feeling sad about not being able to use my letterpress system. I am going to try all these, and hope I can at least keep the plates that will work in my Scout. P.S. I am downsizing my machines and stash in anticipation of our move to the UK in 2025. Have subscribed to your channel!
Fab video. Wish I'd seen tbus before i nearly broke my CC midi machine trial and error some of these techniques❤. Thabkfully it all worked out but this is very helpful, ta 🎉
Very interesting. Thank you so much, Lou. It's good to know that the entire Letterpress system is not absolutely necessary in order to use the beautiful plates.
OK Perfect timing! I have been asking this a lot lately and there’s no answers. I as very many ppl did, bought the switch electric die cutting machine when it first came out. I love it because I have noticed I am a big die cutter. BUT, I cannot emboss stencils or dies with it because I cannot find the right sandwich. I use my regular big shot plates with a metal shim in the machine normally . sometimes no shim. I tried the big shot adapter and rubber mat and it’s so much pressure or too tight that as it feeds through with a stencil, it pushes the rubber mat backwards out of the machine and doesn’t emboss all the way down. I’ve tried asking at SBC because I bought it there and they said I have to use the manual big shot! well, I didn’t buy that $250 machine so i could hand crank the old one! I’ve asked them to pay some attention to all golf is that have a switch when making new products like the magic mat. which I also can’t use because it quickly gets a large bubble in the middle as far as warping and it won’t come out like others say with a heat gun. I think it has so much pressure. SO, I’ve wondered too about the press plates because there are some that are beautifully detailed. Any ideas on how a switch could use these?

@@user-DonsWoman thank you for your beautiful prayer. He can do ALL things! I wonder if it has too much pressure sometimes, but I can use it well with the bs platform, adapter, cutting plates and a metal shim. Sometimes with no shim. But it’s frustrating to have such an expensive piece of equipment that I can’t emboss dies or stencils. I never tried a die because of the rubber mat pushing back out with a stencil. Guess I’ll keep the old cranker too! lol! I appreciate that you show openly your love for Christ which I share as well. God bless you!
TY so much. I don't have the money or space for machines - but I can totally do your techniques and that means I can pick up sale plates and get some beautiful finishes! TY
Great ideas, TY so much! It just gets crazy trying to keep up with all these (expensive) systems now available. I have seen some gorgeous designs in plates, but not pursued due to not owing the system… but now they can be worth a second look for sure!!🧑🏼🎨😀

Thank You!! New to ur Channel .. I Hit the Subscribe Button 😉☺️ I've been on the fence about investing into the BetterPress System, cuz i have limited income .. TY for Showing Us all these different ways to Use BetterPress Dies .. I really Like the Floral one you used in this video. I'm gonna invest into a couple of those Dies & play around doing the ways u showed in ur video. Decide down the road if I wanna invest in the system or just get the Dies & do the things u showed us. Take Care!! ☺️ TFS 🥰🥰 P.S. TY for Including U.S. Links to the Products @ Craft Stash!! 🤗☺️
I bought some magnetic sheets from Claina Palmer with grid system for UK A5 A6 5x7 grids and many more and used the hinge method to ink up the letterpress plates and used the sandwich for embossing with silicone mat with watercolor cardstock. And it works in sizzix big shot machine fine. I prefer A5 size of card hence these grid system works fine. Or if there is glimmer system then use it.
Hi there, love your videos. Is it possible to use foil plates instead of letter press plates? I have quite a few for foiling & really didn’t want to buy anything else. 🙂🙂
Thank you for this! In particular, thank you for clearing up the sandwich which works for this (as I, too, use a Big Shot, this really helped). I was wondering: when I want to use a die cutting platter to make an impression, do I also remove the thin turquoise plate and replace it with the rubber mat or do I leave the turquoise shim in?
