    He has no training, neither pop nor opera, and he doesn't speak Italian. His English is much better now, but he didn't speak it when he learned this song. He memorized the sounds by ear. He started singing before his voice changed, so he sang female parts/songs and kept singing them as his voice deepened and his range extended. In the Philippines, there's a tradition of singing both high and low voices, called Doble Kara. It's not that unusual there for boys to try to keep their high voices and sing doble kara, but he does it remarkably well. And with no training!

    It's my understanding that Marcelito does this song because he loves it. He's self trained which is what makes his performance extra special. Oh yeah and he doesn't speak a lick of Italian. That was entirely from listening to the original song.

    I heard Marcelito Pomoy sung in different languages beautifully in which his voices sounds and tones are almost like the original, in Italian, French, Spanish, English, Tagalog, Chinese and in different dialects too. I heard him switched his voices to four different tones simultaenuously and flawlessly without degrading the quality of the song. He can switch his voices in a snap of a second. He was a contestant in the Philippines Got Talent and later he was admitted to perform in Americas Got Telent, at the battle of the champions. In fact, Marcelito Pomoy almost won the funny Remote Control Challenge @ GGV with vice ganda as the host where he, Marcelito, is the lone contestant. He has got a unique singing talent nobody can comprehend why so.

      @estera4176 4 года назад +3

      No formal training doesn't equal no training at all. It's not the same, but it's obvious he analyses the singers he mimics a lot and pays attention to some details. So I'd say it's safe to assume he's working a lot on his own, not just getting out sounds no matter what they sound like.

    • @JohnCena-ul1vm
      @JohnCena-ul1vm 4 года назад

      Estera Șuticău she just probably means that he didn’t even get formal training like other really good singers. He did it by his own rather than getting a teacher or voice coach.

      @estera4176 4 года назад

      @@JohnCena-ul1vm I get that, but she said he's singing only by instinct, not minding how he sounds, which is not true. Talent alone doesn't make you a great singer or a great anything. You have to put in the work for it, formal studies or not. You can tell he's been analysing Celine Dion a lot, for example.
      Maybe she didn't mean it exactly like that, it might be language barrier. I just hope that people are aware that he's been working that voice, even without a coach. He didn't woke up one day singing like he does now, and we shouldn't neglect his efforts.

  • @Eruannon16
    @Eruannon16 4 года назад +14

    Thank you for you reaction and analysis. Great, as usual. As far as I know Marcelito, at least till some year ago, is self-taught. As for the pronunciation, the real struggle with Italian for foreigners are the double consonants: people hear us and to them either we elongate the vowel before the double consonants (hence mockery-ish words like "spagheeeeti" come out) or the double consonant is totally not heard; the trick is to put an almost imperceptible pause at the beginning of the double consonants, so that the word comes out as it should: "spaghe-tti"; before the double "t" the tongue hits the front teeth and stays there for a bit, the sound doesn't linger on the "e", moreover, that pause allows the speaker to naturally double the consonant in sound without any effort, since the tongue (the tip or the back, depends on the consonant) blocks the air that afterwards comes out with more strength. That's it, it sounds complicated, but it isn't. Saluti dall'Italia! :-)

    • @TheCharismaticVoice
      @TheCharismaticVoice  4 года назад +8

      This is a great explanation of double consonants in Italian. Having sung in Italian a lot, and in Italy, I can attest that it's difficult for foreigners to get correct. One of the things that really helped me was to make sure energy continued through the voiced double consonants. It's harder for voiced consonants to carry in particular, and singers tend to not give them enough support.

    This is just making me so so crazy listening, and I just cant help it BELIEVING!! All the words that can best describe Marz’s another act HAS FALLEN SHORT, and I could not find the right technical words excellently to say.
    THAT INCREDIBLE FINESSE SWITCH “WHILE IN TRANSIT SINGING, IS INCREDIBLY INSANE”!!
    If the PHENOMENAL Ms. Nadia Comaneci was the first GYMNAST to score a PERFECT 10 at the 1976 Olympics, Marcelito Pomoy is the PERFECT 10 jumpingest vocals of all time with finesse.
    That split, 0.01 of a second incredible jump-switch from one register to another is so flawless and razor-sharp!!
    I could not resist to coin him 3 AKA’s this time:
    THE CLEANEST-FASTEST JUMPING JACK VOCALS OF 21ST CENTURY !!
    THE MADDEST VOCALS CLEAN-SWITCH EVER BELTED!!
    THE MAN WITH LEGIT 5-GEAR INCREDIBLE SPEED VOCALS SWITCHES!!
    There are categories and types of PHENOMENAL ART SHOWS being held at every major stages around the world today, at this point in time, 04th Feb 2020. And I guess the GREAT WORLD CONVERGENCE OF MUSICAL GENIUSES are being shaken by the unexplainable talent shown by MARCELITO POMOY.
    NO ONE CAN EXPLAIN WELL FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS HOW POMOY IS DOING IT!!!
    MARCELITO POMOY IS DOING THIS INCREDIBLE SWITCHES FOR THE LAST 5 YEARS AND YET NO BEST VOCAL COACHES AROUND THE WORLD OF RUclipsRS CAN WELL EXPLAIN HOW HE IS DOING IT.
    I guess we will let Pomoy himself to explain well on stage how he is able to do that incredible speed switches especially when he does it while engaged singing!! That even in the middle of musical note segments he can switch and jump quick with incredible continuitivity at its best, without flaws….
    I DON’T REALLY KNOW WHAT’S GOING ON WHENEVER I SEE MARCELITO POMOY DOES HIS WARE, I GUESS I CAN ONLY SAY…….
    ….HE IS LEGIT PHENOMENAL AND RARE, HARD TO FIND!! HE TRULY DEFIES LOGIC, IN MUSICAL TERMS!!
    I AM A SINGER ON MY OWN FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS AND I CANT EXPLAIN IT, NOR I TRIED HARD TO DO WHAT HE DOES BUT SIMPLY I CANT REACH EVEN 5% OF POMOY’S LEVEL, OUT OF 100%
    CAN YOU?
    ANYONE AT AMERICAN GOT TALENT AND VOICE USA COMBINED?

    I forget the details, but he grew up in the Philippines, was abandoned by his parents, lived on the streets until (not sure who) someone took him in (not sure what age), and now his wife is his biggest supporter. One of his AGT intros explains his early life in detail of his struggles.

    Hi Eliza, these are my three questions:
    Q1. Are you willing to train people with no musical background but with very accurate musical ear and welling to learn?
    Q2. you have a course "Expanding Your Range" but it's not open. When will you start the new group?
    Q3. on your reaction to Dimash's Samaltau, there was one thing that I would love to learn more about and know how it was done technically, ruclips.net/video/5IqywFKu1g8/видео.html, exactly 9:21, Dimash does a "riff" at the end of the run.

      Hi Red! I noticed chat closed before I could get a response in to this. Thanks for writing it here.
      1) I've absolutely trained all levels of people. Right now, I'm completely full and can't take on more private clients (I have 25 regular students at the moment, plus running an online course, a recording business, and this channel). However... this leads into your next question.
      2) Expanding Your Range isn't ready yet, but it will open in the fall. For students who really want to dig-into singing, Demystifying Singing is perfect. There's a specific set of vocal exercises in there, which will help you build your range too. Plus, I go into anatomy and practical application, and provide exercises for pitch, breathing, resonance, and rhythm too. I just did a revision of that course so that students get much more individual attention (small group classes every week, final 1-on-1 coaching session, feedback on their recordings, personalized exercises). In addition, the course is limited to 10 students at a time. Registration will open next Friday for starting on August 2. Honestly... it's a big commitment, but if you're willing to put in the time, it's an amazing deal.
      3) The riff that Dimash does here is just a quick descent of notes - like part of a scale going down. You can learn how to do that with agility exercises (like scales), and then just take pieces of those and put them between two longer notes. It's also helpful to change the vowel a little bit, usually so that it's more "closed" - meaning that the front of the mouth doesn't completely close, but gets a smidge smaller. Dimash does this too. :-)
      Hope that's helpful info! Thanks for your questions.

      Him being able to sing the song with dual voice almost perfectly doesnt mean he's immune to criticism. Criticism is good, that way he will improve more and maybe one day we can remove the "almost" and praise him for singing it perfectly
