I don’t know if you are even aware that your demonstrations, while you are explaining, are absolutely inspirational!!! If it wasn’t so late at night right now, here in Tokyo, I’d grab my violin and try to make my scales and arpeggios sound as beautiful as yours. Thankyou for inspiring us!!!!!!!!
Your explanation and instructional demonstration is really "Top Shelf"!! Thank You! I just ordered this scale book and I am looking forward in getting started on it! I've "liked" and "subscribed" and I will definitely be back!! Thank You so very much!!
I really love how you explain everything, i have been playing the violín for almost 15 years and i always learn something new with you! Thank you so much!!!
Большое спасибо за очень добрые слова. Это правда !! Музыка говорит со всеми, она превосходит все разные языки и культуры. Счастливой музыки в твоей семье!
Good morning dear Great Joy . Thank you so much for your answer , you make me very Happy. Please , I Hope so much to play violin with you here in Perugia Italy. I love very much your learning
Thank you so very much Claudio for your kind comments. Italy is such a beautiful country with full of wonderful culture. I wish you and your loved ones a very happy, blessed New Year with lots of beautiful music making!!!
I suppose I have to watch this video a few times in order to absorb all the information you put in this compact video. Again thank you for posting this useful tutorial.
Decidí escribir este comentario en mi idioma, Porque la verdad en español no existe este tipo de información en youtube . Sin duda la mejor de todas las Maestras, felicidades y gracias.
@@JoyLeeViolin joy, if you want, I'd be glad to help you with the translation to add Spanish subtitles. I have no idea how to make subtitles, but I'm very good at translating, and very fluent in violin and music related vocabulary.
Dear Sofia, Thank you very much for your such kind offer. That would be fabulous! At the moment I have a lot on my plate, and trying to organize all, but as soon as I figure out about putting subtitles, I would really appreciate your help. Would you mind sending me an email to "topiaviolins@gmail.com" ? Thanks a lot Sofia!
Im glad you said that C major is not easy on the violin because it's not easy for me. I like that space between the B and C on the A string. I gravitate for the B & C on the D string. Oh i was directed to this channel to find your variations on Montie's Czardas. But this video caught my attention. Those scale Books dont give instructions on the intent of practicing the scale.like the first page, top line is suppose to played on the g string only. . Does it say so in the book ? I dont think so
Hello Ms. Joy! Can you make a video about violin improvisation in different kinds of genre? I don't see any videos like that here in youtube and you are the only one who teaches very clearly. Thank you :)
If I only got 2 hours everyday for practice violin, could you please suggest the allocation of time on bowing of open strings, scales, etude and pieces? Thanks for your reply first. 🙂

I thought that i was able to be called a "violin amateur". until i start learning with Carl Flesch scale book. Then i realize that i'm a total failure lol.
You are a violinist whenever you play the violin. And no matter how good one is, we all think that we could do so much better. I hope you would feel encouraged to keep playing and practising your violin :) Happy music making!
Hi Mike, it's the best if you press fingers with a minimum finger weight. Please see this video where I explain that topic. Happy violin playing! ruclips.net/video/L7yNktL8DfY/видео.html
Can you recommend me some reading method for my adult students? Some are quite reluctant to read music. Maybe that would be a good topic for a video too. Importance of being able to read music and how to achieve it.
Scales and arpeggios on their own are not enough technique to play in an orchestra, there are so combinations of appeggios and notes in between. Studies are just as important. Anyway very well explained, often top violinist swear by Carl Flech who was up to speed with 19th century romantic music.
Hi! With my students, I usually begin with Hrimaly, and/or some sevcik. If you never did scales, begin with very long notes, whole bow, being very very aware of intonation and tone production. After you master that, you can do other bow strokes like Martele, maybe two per bow, trying to keep a steady tempo (I prefer using a metronome). Normally for a beginner, studying one different scale each week, or even every two weeks, depending on your level.
