The main reason I find your videos way better than most of the other channels on RUclips is the quality of these videos. It's not just the video quality or sound quality I'm talking about here, but the direction, the way it is written, even editing is almost flawless. The amount of work you are putting in there is actually visible and that's amazing.
Also, I really like that this channel is based on the idea of breaking the style trends set by the more conventional 'get laid' channels which forget style is about expression more than an impression. I love your work and hope this channel boosts up soon!
Brother, I can't tell you how much I love this comment...thank you so much! This is exactly what I wanted the channel to be about so I'm so honored and glad that you see that message...a million thanks, bro!
I went for high waisted trousers last year for my trousers and I’ll never go back. These need to become mainstream. It’s only right!
It is! They really should become mainstream. Let's hope so!
not when you have short torso bro
I just love high waisted trousers, no belt with a nice fitted shirt! It just feels right! I'm glad to see this video! Thanks for the effort you put into the video and the history!
So, yes, I do agree that men should wear high-waisted pants more. Overall, it looks more tapered. The versatility with suspenders and belts make them both casual & formal. It really just looks so good.
Glad we see eye to eye on this! It definitely has a great tapered look, and suspenders definitely look great with them!
I also agree but man i CANT FIND ANY! Even online i'd have to look up specialized websites where someone hand makes them or something lmao
@@kristoffseisler2163 what are the websites want to order some for my father in-law
7:03 And you were absolutely right, my guy. I'm glad high-rise trousers have made a huge comeback and are more mainstream now. Three and more years ago, it was a huge pain to find them. Now I can even find some high-rise jeans for men at Zara!
High waisted trousers are amazing, be it when I'm wearing a suit, wearing a casual dress down, or wearing denim back buckle trousers and braces on a summers day, their comfy! I'm a a fit dude but have wide hips, low rise pants never really nailed it for me, with high waisted trousers they conceal them, make my legs look longer and make my upper proportions pop.
Exactly! I have wide hips as well and they definitely compliment bodies like that. When you're fit, they look incredible so hats off to you, my friend! Once you wear them, you won't go back
Amazingly interesting video! I love your style of filming videos like movies! You must have 100k subs!!!
Just discovered your channel as I’ve started my journey into high-waisted/gurka pants. Absolutely LOVE your presentation style-reminds me of the great Alton Brown and his influential ‘Good Eats’ cooking show. Keep up the amazing work!
I love you that know and referenced Ed Grimley. I was Ed Grimley twice for Halloween as a kid. 😂
I swear you're my go to men fashion guru
My dude, I am humbled af hearing that...papa bless up!
I want to point out that for most of the history relevant to the suit, the tops of trousers were not visible: they were concealed under a waistcoat, which is always buttoned and go past your natural waist. Today, I never omit a sweater or something that conceals the high waist; and I think people should try this if they want the comfort of a higher rise but don’t want to show it.
The production quality on this is amazing
Thank you so much!!

I purchased a pair of scrub pants from Figs and couldn’t put my finger on why I like them far better than any other scrub bottoms. Then I did some research and realized their high rise cut is why they look and fit so well. Now I want to wear only Gurkha/high rise. Soo comfortable and I’ve never had so many complaints at work.
Yep, that's it! The best things are the ones that you can't quite put your finger on it at first. Keep rocking them my dude!
They are getting popular now
Thank the good Lord above!
Great video mate! I was one of those guys who was very iffy about high waisted trousers, what my pairs around me would think etc. But now that I’ve been in the process of maturing my style, I think whatever makes me feel comfortable, just go with that and not give a damn what others may think. Excited to pull them off when I return back to the office.
Heck yeah dude! Rock em!

Thank you as always brother!

Super intriguing, I never thought I would consider high rise pants but I feel them growing on me now that you’re popularizing them again. You should start you own brand of Levi’s! Haha 😆
I love wearing high rise pants (especially 20s style) but they’re so hard to find at a price I can afford

Haha! One of the biggest reasons I go more by Demetrios than Levi haha!
20's style is the best! I'm going to be making a vid as soon as I can about brands that are good for high rise pants!
I really hope high waisted pants become a trend again, because they're so hard to find. Low waisted pants are incrediby uncomfortable and wearing high waisted pants solves that problem.
100% agree. I think they'll start coming back albeit more slowly (mainstream companies like to minimize the amount of fabric used as much as possible to save money, hence why skinny fit is prevailing and I assume for the rise as well, which would also mean different patterns for the sewers)
I started a series called Hi-Rise where I review brands that sell them so I recommend checking it out.
Thank you for watching and commenting, brother!

I’m older and have always been stylish and remember when well made pants were higher rise. I’m kinda tired of the low rise pants and want to go back to the old classics and not bc of my body shape bc my body is like a 30 year old, but I’m 60.
Thanks and I’m going to grab these AX wool pants that have a single pleat high rise from eBay that cheap also.
One thing as you get older, you don’t follow trends and go with what you like and what works for you. Meaning you have the confidence to do what you like.
Thanks for the video !
This was fantastic. Very helpful. Thanks and subscribed!

Thank you for being a part of this, bro! Definitely try out them gurkhas man, you'll love 'em...say no to plumber booty!
@Bobby Lane In my personal experience, Craftsman gurkhas are perfect for that because there's a lot of room in the thigh. My man Tobe, one of the co-founders of Craftsman made them specifically like that because he's a gym bro and loves his squats, so that would be a great choice if you're looking at high-rise gurkhas!
I started wearing high waisted pants a couple years ago and I have to say that on top of looking amazing they are the most comfortable pants I've ever worn. And at this point all of my pants including jeans have a more or less high rise. At first it may be hard to get used to the look but once you get used to it you realize how disproportionate low rise pants look and it's quite funny seeing people walking around with extreme long torsos and short stumpy legs 😂
Heck yeah dude! Great to see the high-rise gang here...that's so true tho! Once you get used to it, anything else just looks...off. In all my old pics my legs look like little stumps haha!
Yes, and long torsos are typically associated with infants, since leg to body length ratio increases as our body grows.
Where do you buy your High Waited pants? I’ve had a hard time finding anything high waisted for men!
@@jcburgos7499 Mainly online, although I've heard of people buying from places like Etsy or looking for vintage ones on thrift stores I don't really like the idea of wearing someone else's pants hahah. For jeans I go with Levi's Vintage Clothing, they make some good reproductions of earlier models with a slightly higher rise. For trousers I personally love Scott Fraser Collection, I have 4 pairs from them and 1 pair of shorts and they're great. There are many other brands too but since high waisted trousers aren't mainstream yet, you'll probably have to look for either well know tailors that do ready to wear like Edward Sexton or pretty niche brands like the one I've mentioned before which can get very pricey.
@@jcburgos7499 Hi JC Burgos, the only place I can think of is the India-based Luxire. You order online high-waisted and with several purchases you can begin to get the right fit. Be prepared to bring your pants/trousers to the tailor. I'd suggest you go with their trial pants and take it from there.
i have to wear corset for high rise because im still on my diet journey but it made me feel confident wearing highrise with tucked in love my 12inches high rise everyday lol
Shout out to the Celts! Love the music choices in this video bro! I think it'd be nice to see high waisted pants come into the mainstream!

Heck yeah, my dude! The only thing better than gurkhas or linen are linen gurkhas haha!
High rise looks really good as you can excenuate your legs and they fit comfortably. It goes great with a shirt that's tucked in loosely with high waisted

I started wearing high..
A month ago...it gives me more confidence and my legs look taller...an optical illusion to be honest
It really does! I got short legs so it definitely helps in that department haha
You are 100% accurate it's just in the 80s and early 90s kids was taught how to wear them right if you measure them right they will be long enough while worn on the right spot of your waist
Awesome. I shifted too. Sooo cool. Nobody wears them at work or anywhere else. A great move right now.
Great to have you aboard the high rise train! Thank you so much
I'm definitely thinking about picking up some high-waisted trousers.
I personally like high waist Pants & Jeans🔥
Low rise isn’t new either, true it’s newer than high rise or classic rise but low rise jeans were originally worn in the 60s and 70s, they were called hip huggers. High rise came back in the late 70s especially with the designer jean trend into the early 80s. Low rise started to appear in the early 90s when designers like Alexander McQueen and Tom Ford started showcasing them on the runway while the hip hop culture was embracing the sagging trend. Low rise began to appear in the late 90s and went mainstream in the early 2000s with singers like Britney, Christina, JLo, and Mariah wearing them.
I was thinking of trying them and after checking this video I will absolutely do it
Go for it!
@@DemetriosLevi well I did, I have 3 pairs so far and I love them 😅

Super impressed by the effort put into these videos, the production quality is fantastic. Great work, just subscribed!
For men who already have short torsos and long legs (like me), high rise pants only accentuate this. Low rise pants help make our torsos look longer than they actually are
Yeah, that's the exception for sure...I personally recommend medium rise for body types like that because low may still be too extreme but in the end it's just my opinion...
I'm moving to medium and high waisted pants now since i realized that my torso is a little bit longer than my legs and when i wear low rises it makes my leg look even shorter
Same. I got short legs and a long torso...it really makes a big difference!

They absolutely are!
This is definitely something I wanna explore next on my style journey!! Excellent video!
Do it my man! Thank you so much!
I actually just recently viewed a video addressing this issue, and I believe that’s my issue, low waist trousers! So, I’m going to try out some high waist trousers and see.
I prefer to wear high rise trouser all the time..
Same! Can't go back to anything else
@@DemetriosLevi if I got a little bit of a fupa.. are high rise pants gonna slide down? Trying to avoid suspenders. We have a similar body type.. or did in this video. Also do you measure at / around the belly button?
I started wearing high rise pants first for work. I wear a tool belt and unless you belt sits on your hips it will ruin your back and your day.
And now I’m flat out addicted. I get vintage high rise pants whenever I can! Like these formal British army pants I got.
But those are hard to come by so I mostly get my fix and men’s work wwear stores. If there were affordable high rise jeans I would buy them in a heart beat.
Looove the video boss !
Bring high rise back!

I am an older gent. Low rise pants are kind of disgusting. So uncomfortable. By the way, I still wear the same 32 waist pant I wore in high school more than 50 years ago (meaning-I can wear the modern cut pants, but they are "kind of disgusting"). Another sad fashion element. Try to buy some cotton chinos/khakis that are 100% cotton (no elastene/stretch b.s.) with a high-rise. Chinos/Khakis are supposed to be cut in a way that one does not need any "stretch" element to be comfortable. I found a place that sells 100%cotton chinos/high rise, and I am going to buy every color they make.....an investment for the future when all cotton pants will be "stretch", "low-rise", and most likely "wrinkle resistant". Had to rant about this.......In my younger days, chinos/khakis were for park sports, yard-work, going to war, any outdoor activity and work project, and if you ironed a clean pair, put on a freshly ironed button down oxford shirt, and put on your good shoes......you were ready for to "go out".
Great video man! And great points
Thank you as always, brother! Papa bless up
So difficult to find high waisted pants for my 48 inches waist!!
And they're so much more comfortable
Absolutely
This was needed 💯💯💯💯
I love High waist pants! I would love to have a pair of suspenders, because with belt they are a little on my stomach but much better than wearing low rise.
With suspenders the pants would hang and you can wear as loose as you can, making it the most comfortable pants
I have short torso and long. Whenever I'm wearing trousers or jeans with regular rise with shirt or polo tucked in it seems like my legs are trying to devour my upper body. So basically high rise isnt for everyone, because a regular rise is already high for short torso people
Yep. If it looks extreme than not the best idea. The key is not only comfort but proportions. Can be a bummer but hey, at least you got a lot of options at the moment!
Your video style reminds me of Bill Nye the Science guy, in the best kinda way! Keep it up
Thank you my dude!
Hi Demetrios! Great video! I easily adopted high rise pants about a year ago and I love them for the reasons mentioned in this video. My only complaint at the moment is that because high rise pants have not become mainstream yet it is hard to find many options to buy. My go to brands so far have been Brooks Brothers Madison fit dress pants and the Wranglers Cowboy Cut Original Fit jeans. If you know of any other accessible brands that carry high rise pants let me know :)
My man! Yeah, it's still hard to find brands for sure. Craftsman makes great gurkhas, but if you're looking for non-gurkha pants, then it gets a little harder. I heard Natalino makes fantastic trousers...I'll be buying more of them (the navy ones are thrifted) and making a video on where to get them!
@@DemetriosLevi natalino makes fantastic high rise trousers! I love mine

High waisted pants are definitely a must for bigger guys if you're wearing a suit or any other dress clothing. And also if you tuck any button up shirt into jeans.
I started wearing mid waisted trousers and oh boay what a change , finaly i feel like my bottom isnt coming out like with lower ones ... but I'm still trying to get my hands on a nice high waist pair :)
we're back in the roaring twenties baby
Yes to high-waisted pants! They actually have been in and out of vogue for decades, but more in the high fashion vs commercial realm. They give the optical illusion of taller, longer slimmer (if you're already on a more slender side). Love pleated (or darted), loose fitting, wide legged high-waisted slacks, where the waist belt sits right on top of the belly button (makes the torso abs look more shapely). Can be dressed formal or more casual, but always en vogue! ;)

High-rise Pants may work for shorter guys, but for guys, 6 feet and over, they'll make you look like your legs are freakishly longer compared to your torso. Remember, when it comes to esthetics, balanced proportions, and symmetry, it is paramount.
I didnt really need a history but this was fine
But where can we find those pants ? Especially in Europe
personally I do not like low rise, I like my pants to stay on my body please. But, high rise I don't think is always the best. Specifically when wearing a belt. I was raised to always wear a belt when tucking a shirt in, and it just looks wrong to me if a belt isn't worn (unless the pants aren't meant to be worn with one), but belt plus high rise to me isn't the best look.
Belts look better on a midrise, particularly if your shirt is going to be visible. If wearing something like a suit or other ensemble where a jacket is involved, then highrise looks better, particularly with pants fitted to the point of not needing a belt or with suspenders
fun fact: a lot of pants around the time of the Roman empire weren't always all the way to the ankle. In warmer areas pants tended to be shorter, and a neat example of this is the Marx-Etzel tunic and trousers found in Germany. The tunic is very highly influenced by Roman tunics, it's basically got the same cut and shape but uses the materials and sewing methods that the Germanic tribes were using, potentially the owner might have been a former auxiliary but we don't know, and the trousers are... interesting.
They seem to have ended roughly around the same area that plus fours would end, with a fitted knee-hole if you will but the rest of the trouser is quite loose, and one reconstruction I saw of it what they did was belt it as per usual, and then draw the excess material up over and around it, effectively rolling it up like you would your shirt sleeves, which has the effect of creating a seemingly more fitted garment comparable to descriptions and illustrations of the clothing worn at the time by these groups of people.
If you look up Marx-Etzel tunic reconstruction you should find examples of it (though the guy I'm talking about made separate pages for the tunic and trousers sadly, with the tunic page using thorsberg style trousers instead, which are more like what you'd expect for form fitting pants)
One of the reasons the Romans might have thought of pants as being barbaric or like particularly notable anyways, besides the usual "Rome is better than you all, suck it" attitude, is that Roman men either didn't wear drawers or when they did wore something akin to short pants made of linen
So that's where they're coming from when it comes to seeing pants. They're used to thinking of pants as underwear essentially, only visible when manual labor is being done, which was often done by slaves at the time, but then they have these foreigners that wear similar ish pants made of wool of all things and not only that but fine patterned and dyed wool, clearly the clothing of wealthy folks
But they're still pants, and they associate that with the poorest sorts, so there's this cultural juxtaposition that must have made such garments seem quite odd and backwards to Romans at the time (though clearly that didn't last long because they adopted wearing pants not too long after being exposed to them)
It's not completely true that "low rise" didn't exist historically, I'm mainly thinking of like certain periods of time in roughly the late 16th to early 17th century, when men's breeches are still being pointed to their doublets.
The thing is is that when your pants are tied to your doublet they don't need to be particularly high rise, so what we see through time basically is that when hose and doublet become a thing, they start more at the low waist, gradually creep up (and the doublet gets shorter) and get joined into breeches (as they'd also split into upper and lower hose at this point), then creep back down again until the doublet is replaced by the justacorps which comes with a long waistcoat at which point they begin creeping back up as the waistcoat gets shorter peaking in the early 19th century before slowly petering off and getting down to where we are now at an all time low. Actually rather interesting how we've gone from an extreme high in the early 19th century to an extreme low in the early 21st century
Would love to wear more high waisted trousers. But where do you find them?
Heck yeah dude! Aside from Craftsman that makes great gurkhas, I don't have much experience...I heard Natalino makes fantastic ones and I'm going to buy them as soon as they have my size in stock. I'll be making a vid on the best brands as soon as I can!

I have difficulty in finding pants with high enough rise because I have a belly and look awkward. I also have a long torso and short legs.
I have a long torso and short legs as well. I also used to have quite a belly, so definitely having a waistband that's large like 2 inches (even 3 if you can find it) definitely helps because it really straightens out the waist.
