Do does the water you inject down the well just replace the volume of the oil you're pulling out of another nearby? What would happen if you didn't do that, a giant sucking sound? 😅🤔🇺🇸
Preventive maintenance used to be a routine part of business but over the last twenty years but "drive it like a rented mule" to maximize quarterly profits has become the norm. Its good to see some owner operators are looking forward beyond the next report. I always enjoyed the look of surprise on the MBAs face when the machinery failed "unpredictably". Who could have known? :)
We have it the same in the factory I work at. Every time machinery fails because they cheap out on parts and maintenance I praise my boss: "Wow boss! it was really worth it saving a couple of thousand euro worth of parts just to loose tens of thousands while the machine sits broken."
yep, killed a go pro falling off the car in the burnout box...in its clamshell, fell less than a foot. Thats a no thanks for a fella looking for a reliable action camera (Sony now).
the 2 and the session are the only good cameras they ever made. people sluged along because they ere the only game in town but now there are real competitors that just work they are done.
First class setup. I like the oil-filled pressure gages. You really need those with a positive displacement pump. Being an ex-Navy Machinists Mate I enjoy your videos because I understand pumps, valves, and pipes.
I'm 55 yo and have been in the oilfield my whole life. I'm familiar with everything you work on. I always enjoy seeing how others do things. You never stop learning. Just about the time you think you've seen it all something out of the ordinary happens. Good luck to you and happy pumping.😊
Enjoy your content, grew up near the oil fields but never worked it, i have always found it interesting and still do as I'm past retirement age, more power to the oil patch !
Keep that patch pump'n, Zach !! ... the world needs the crude and you, too ... another terrific production from "Zach Studios" !! ... Stay Safe ... and the new camera is spot on ...
Great video and always a great explanation of basic oil field plumbing and the parts needed and why the right parts are important. I was on the drilling side for 25 years and then the drilling and production supply store business for six years. The parts you showed bring back good memories of good people like you and the work you do. Love the big open and wrench. Thanks Zach.
zach, i am super super super stoked that you are posting more videos, it takes a lot of effort even for what you would consider a basic/ short video. we are here because we like you, we like your style and talent. i work in IT in the UK for goodness sake and you got me hooked on this channel. its amazing, keep it up.
I’ve been with you since the early days. Seen all your video’s. Seen some of them more than once. I honestly believed that you didn’t own a single combination wrench. You’re a man of many surprises!!! 😉
Excellent Work Zach! So right those new connections will probably last your lifetime! Plumber, Electrician, Mechanic, Carpenter, Machinist, Welder!! Just some of your skills!! Great Video! Thanks!!
Zach I have ownership of a very small part of a couple of leases that someone pays me (not very much) to use. I inherited these shares from my Great Uncle who was a geologist in the Texas oil fields in the early 1900's. So your videos are very interesting to me. I just watched your video about the old Oklahoma jack pump from 2022. I like that you are still running that old pump that your Grandfather and Great Grandfather drilled in the 1950's! Plus where else would I have learned about jack pumps? Thanks for your videos.
Stainlees and brass together eats the Zinc out of the brass. It goes pink and brittle in spots as the copper is stripped of the Zinc.A slight tap and it breaks like plaster of paris.
Very nice video. I really enjoy these detailed explanations and I am happy to tag along and watch you repair and maintain and improve your daily operations. As always, looking forward to the next one.
Good clear video. If the water that comes up with the oil in your wells is anything like the water that comes up with the oil in the 90 year old oil field I grew up in, you DO not want it spilled on the ground. There are still bare spots around where the water was spilled on the ground 90 years ago. And this is in Oklahoma, not in the desert.
I look forward to your video about injection wells. As you no doubt heard, several years ago Oklahoma started having lots of earthquakes and a lot of injection wells were shutdown. Once the injection wells were stopped in the areas where the earthquakes were centered, the earthquake problem pretty much stopped. Though within the last month there as another earthquake and some more injection wells were shutdown where the earthquake was centered.
You seem a handy sort of bloke. Looks like you know what not to do...😅 I've been in a few train smashes myself. Grate channel bro..... keep it rolling.
Thanks, good video. On those hose end fittings, swivel JIC flare, put some never-sieze on the backside of the flare, inside between the flare & nut, so that when tightening the nut, the hose doesn't want to turn and the flare's contact/sealing surfaces stay still & don't have a chance to gall/F'up.
Thanks zach expose fitting and maintenance some oil company here alberta oilfield go cheap then a alarm go off due cheap fitting or hose.i saw near calgary in oil wells mess up due go cheap and low maintenance.thanks video😊
Another great video, Zach. You make this so interesting to watch. Glad you are having good weather there to get some work done. Looking forward to your next oil field job. Thanks for sharing these, excellent job as always.
You almost make it all look easy, but after the last 45 years of doing the same thing you're doing , I know better. It is rewarding when the job is done though...I guess if I didn't enjoy it I wouldn't still be doing it Lol..Stay safe out there.
I've really enjoyed leaning this stuff and your content. However,,,,,I brain will not take the movement. Thanks for the parts that are on a tripod though. I always enjoy the ones I CAN watch.
Iworked in plant that was plumbed with stainless and titanium pipe from 1/8” all the way up to 30” pipe. All the big stuff was flanged with stainless bolts and nuts. Brother if you think stainless galls badly try titanium! We never did solve the galling completely. But we did reduce it by adding molybdenum powder to nickel based antisieze . It really helped but i don’t think galling can be completely stopped. The new camera has a lot better image.
Scoring to the galvanic condition charts stainless steel and copper can corrode together. I’d go and check one of your old connections and see if they are fixed together or not. They do have differently types of anti seize. Looks like you need a zinc anti seize to be ok.
Zach another very informative and preventable maintenance video that you exacuted nicely... I have so so many questions regarding ur injection wells considering I work on them as well at a disposable site.. You mentioned next video that comes out will have all the specs and information regarding ur well.. I LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT VIDEO WITH ANTICIPATION... ❤❤❤❤
GREAT VLOG, HOG!! ENJOY YOUR COMMENTING, YOU HAVE A NEAT ACCENT. I USED TO LIVE IN JASPER, THERE WERE VA LOT OF WELLS AROUND THERE...BACK IN '22, LOL. KEPP'EM COMIN;, COWBOY!
The 18v Milwaukee stuff isn’t bad. The 28v Milwaukee is absolute HOT GARBAGE. The batteries are easily shorted out and ungodly stupid expensive. Thanks for taking us along, Zach
I typically work on bigger wells in the industry, but always enjoy your videos mate - keep up the great work! PS. are you injecting fresh water or produced water (ie. saline)? If it has a decent amount of salinity, you'll want to ensure your injection water is relatively de-oxygenated, or it'll eat through your stainless quicker than you'd think! (pitting corrosion)
@@ryanfriars545 Actually I was not being sarcastic. I have watched dozens if not hundreds of videos of people who wrap Teflon backwards on the threads, or if they get the Teflon going right, they are holding the plastic case wrong and they role out way more Teflon than is needed and have to either role it back on the spool or tear it off and waste it. That's all I was saying.
Good job Zack. The best I have seen ya'll turn. I can see this injection well being a hard case. I hope ya'll have it straightened out now but I bet not.
Yes those swedges or reducers are very dangerous. The throat will erode over time then explode under pressure, I have known multiple people killed by those back in the 80's here in the WV oil field.
Dude, you’re not the only tuber sick and tired of GoPro cameras. Bikes and beards channel is using some new cameras. He to got sick and tired of GoPros bs. Can’t remember the name of them, but he does promote the camera in one of his more recent videos. Not a Milwaukee fan boy. I like this guy 😂.
How much water? Or what is the average water flow rate for your Wells? I just had to Google why the water tanks. I'm learning. Keep up the great videos, Zach!
I am SO sorry to hear about your migraines. I too suffer and like you go blind in one eye. You might like to know your GoPro problems are almost certainly caused by heat. This gives exactly the problems that you describe. No cure just like your head but DJI cameras same people who make the drones are better.
I use cheap Akaso action cameras. They have their quirks like they only work with their own brand of external microphone and don't have any cordless mic option. But out of the 4 that I have only one gives me trouble and that is because it was in a bicycle crash and hit asphalt lens first in a 15 mph crash. I have 2 older Brave 7 LE's w/o external mic support, 1 Brave 7 LE with external mic support, and a Brave 6 plus with external mic support. I've never lost a single clip, audio or video. For under $200 each I'm happy.
Have fun with scada I used zdSCADA ap on Wells I used to pump. Setting it up is the getter. Every company i had was different and the alarms 😳 set it up to scan every 15 seconds will about suck the life out of a 12v battery at night
I have a well and injection pump on my property in abilene that the well operator hasn't done anything with for 4 or 5 years. They have been reporting the well has been pulling 1 or 2 barrels a month. Even though the well is in front of my house and never runs. What do I do? I own some mineral rights as well.
It often seems like analogue technology (like engines or wells) is more logical and obedient than digital technology (like a GoPro). Am I right? Great video as usual, and good luck bending the digital world to your desires.

stainless is weird it seizes together. used to make all sorts of weird valves for oil and chemicals and had to be careful to not have them seize during assembly!
1st, I have cheap 60$ Chinese go pro knockoffs that have never failed me. 2nd, on those steel nuts that gey rusted in place, get some molybdenum disulphide powder and mix it with rubbing alcohol and use a Dremel tool to polish it onto the steel, this will reduce corrosion and create a dry film lubricant.
