The preceding self titled Fleetwood Mac too. Just putting it out there, but the early Peter Green Fleetwood Mac is worth the rabbit hole. Black Magic Woman, Rattlesnake Shake, Oh Well, and many more.
Yeah - this live performance is epic, and way better than the recorded version which lacks the high energy solos in the middle and at the end, lacks the piano interlude, and lacks the high energy belting at the end. I love this performance. I would recommend also her live performance of "Silver Springs" from "The Dance" (not as high-energy as this, but beautiful).
This song live is almost a totally different song from the studio version. The raw power in the performance brings the song up to an entirely different plateau. I can't even listen to the studio version anymore.
This was performed on the TV Show, The Midnight Special, on NBC. The show aired from 1 am to 2:30 Am on Fridays/Saturdays . I was too young to watch it at the time.
I loved your reaction and agree with you on all counts. I saw them live in about 1983-4. Birthday present from my boyfriend, future husband. Incredible!
I was in Attendance for this Live Performance in Burbank, CA. Burt Sugarman produced a Live Concert every Saturday Night for 2+ years. Each and Every week featured a different Kick Ass Band. Lindsey Buckingham was a Virtuoso on the Guitar. Tickets were $8.75
Ive watched a couple of your performances...you have a fantastic voice..if you have your Rhiannon version captured Id love to see please upload...love your channel
Im listening to music over 60 years, this is one of the greatest singers and performances ever. Lindsey Buckingham is such an awesome guitarist. Love their chemistry. Again Stevie is awesome. Props to the entire band, magnificent job!!!
Wonderful reaction, Dani ! .. I love this song and THIS performance so much, and have seen many reactions to it .. But yours is up with the best I've seen so far .. You picked up on the many noteworthy parts of this classic, and when you stopped to comment you kept them short and to the point, so as not to lose the flow of the music .. Big thumbs up to you 👍👍👍 .. PS :- While Stevie's hair here is incomparable, yours looks pretty awesome too ! .. Cheers, Wayne
this particular version on the 'MIDNITE SPECIAL" a TV show on every saturday nite back in 76 it was always like a concert ...REMEMBER?????? this show kicked off her career...amen
Edge of Seventeen live! It will blow you away! Landslide live is amazing too! Stevie is amazing! Her voice is so unique. One note and you know it's her. She's the only woman inducted twice into the rock and roll hall of fame. Once with Fleetwood Mac and once for her solo work. Fun fact Stevie was born Stephanie Lynn Nicks but as a small child couldn't say Stephanie. It came out Stevie and it stuck!
Her name is Nicole Yo**** and my life has been awful without her. That's why everyone loves this song. Because everyone has their own Rhiannon and the pain of missing her is different to everyone yet somehow still universal. We can all feel the love and hurt and energy that flows throughout this song. Especially in the live versions. For me its about a sense of urgency over the fear I feel that I'll never see her again and never feel that love we both shared at one point again. I cant stand the thought of it to be honest. But no, there is no one like Stevie Nicks.
Fleetwood mac was a icon band with platinum albums .. music then and before was much more emotion driven and I loved it .. today's music is more theater and vocal pyrotechnics but doesn't speak to the soul in many cases.. I stated listening to music in the 50s and it has certainly changed ,, loved your reaction ..thumbs up
Music after the 70s for the most part sucked. There was too much of that 'We've got to change the genre' attitude, later on, and it went off in the wrong directions. Into a mediocre space.
If you haven't heard it, you should listen to Songbird, which features Christine McVie on lead vocals. Everyone always focuses on Stevie, but Christine's vocals are exquisite.
One of the bands that where better live than studio record. The guitar musical jam would have been much longer in concert as well as the intensity and beauty of there songs performed in concert.
@@DaniAtkinson you should react to the Rhiannon "official music video" performance, it's also from 76 and they definitely jam a little harder in it. Lindsey's guitar solo is longer and Stevie gets way more intense in the outro!
Stevie was very very captivated almost completely with character Rhiannon (: So much that she embodied her presence always in her singing and being (: Which why you saw her dress more gypsy or witchy on stage per every performance (: It wouldn't surprise me if off stage she was like that during the 70s and later throughout the rest of her career with Fleetwood Mac and her solo career (: She too me became Rhianon completely (: And Too me that was the best thing she ever did (: It made such a better singer even though she was already a beyond Amazing singer already but once she became this character she really blossomed and her passion and her soul or electricity in her really took off (: Her song writing her singing her performances everything was just beautiful absolute Perfection (: I know song singer's in different genras too share such familiar experiences (: For Example The lead singer from Mazzystar a group you should check out and listen too if you get the chance (: But the singer Hope Sandoval too beautiful if a goddess but with a voice that sounds like a old 1950s club singer was trapped in her body and soul and it echoes through her voice literally (: And her performances much Stevies very hypnotic and trans filled (: Trust me if you see her you will lol her check out fade into you (: December something or vs versa (: But the video for that I think it was a recording live session but she plays the harmonica and her voice was just chilling haunting period (: She Definately inspired Lana Del Rey period (: Also a Turkish singer name Azam Ali she has a voice of s one ancient female goddess trapped inside her voice and body (: And even thow she is singing in s one Arabic language (: She eliminates such a ancient voice period powerful hauntingly magical (: I Lol it (: You could checkout any of her songs there all good too the ears also (: But yes Stevie was one the first too embody that connection too a character of Pure emotional physical and psyche connect and spiritually as well (: And Too have such a bond with the character that drove everything else in her too create such timeless gens of perfect music period (: And lol all her stuff period (:
Stevie is amazing as always. Lindsey Buckingham is such an underrated guitarist ~ and he fingerpicks only. Please don't overlook Christine McVie on piano. Listen to her song Songbird. It's just beautiful.
Remember Stevie Nicks wrote that song - Rhiannon. She also wrote so many of Fleetwood Mac's songs. She is an amazing talent. You might look at "Edge of Seventeen" another song she wrote. But, she did that song solo. Not with Fleetwood Mac.
I first started to like them in 75', partly due to Christine's great voice but when I went to a concert that summer didn't know about the new lineup with Stevie and Lindsey and was totally taken aback ! It was an intimate setting in an old fashioned opera theater in Conn so boy did I get lucky. A couple of my faves are "Landslide" and "Tusk"(The Dance, live!)
Started to listen to F.M. in 1976 and liked their music a lot.saw them a few years later when i was stationed in Germany.fell hopelessly in love with Stevie and that incredible voice right then lol.like the lyrics say"once in a million years a lady like her rises". Thanks Dani for letting me relive some fine memories😁😁😁👍👍👍
You were definitely born in the wrong era Dani, you would have been a rockstar in the 70s. It's so awesome to see your Nostalgia even though it's new to you :-) this one was very cool..by the way Dani, I would love to hear you sing this song..
One of our favorite songs. But our good friend and elegant Canadian singer , the beautiful Theresa Moase recorded a captivating and sultry version of the song it for us a few years ago. Here it is: ruclips.net/video/03aYMYPt5b0/видео.html Sadly, Theresa passed away a few years ago and we are offering it to your channel to enjoy as much as we have. RIP, sweetheart, we'll see you you again, I promise.
Yeah Ted it's the "official music video" that you are referring too. I agree they rock out alot harder on that performance which is hard to believe considering that went pretty hard on this one. Lol they were probably advised to cut it a little short for the Midnight Special show.
Great reaction. Thank you. 😃 I would really really love to get your take off Led Zeppelin .. Stairway to Heaven live at Madison Square Garden in the 70s... This was the height of their career. I would love to see your reaction to that... their most popular song... Anyway, thanks again!!
OK Dani. For us folks over 50 we all know that this was a great album. We grew up with this stuff. Lots of your fellow reactors have also covered this song. I'm going to give you a heads up on a super album from 1998. Check out the album Just Won't Burn by Susan Tedeschi. Her song, It hurt so bad, will knock you off that chair of yours. You'll also be the only one on RUclips that had reacted to it.
In the song look at how Lindsay Buckingham’s playing style is on the guitar. He was one of a very few that played in a plucking style on the strings of his guitar...There is a WEALTH of material of Fleetwood Mac from the 1970’s through to the 1990’s...
you have to remember, at this point in history stevie was almost always high, you can see it in her face, she is the song because the rest of her is lost in cocaine.
Stevie nicks did not get help for almost 10years later this was tape in January 2, 1976 if look at lindsey he's laughing at stevie they all agreed when she singing about the cat stevie nicks was not the star of fleetwood mac it was lindsey buckingham the guitar player they lived together for 6yrs before they join fleetwood mac but mick fleetwood just wanted lindsey because of his guitar playing they did not want another woman singer in the band but lindsey said if you want me you have to take my girlfriend too stevie nicks.
Performance is absolutely amazing and heavily fuelled by drugs. She’s totally off her face during this concert but I don’t mind at all if this is the end result.
You know they were fueled by cocaine in this version, right? Well Stevie, Lindsey and Mick anyway. Christine didn’t partake and her ex John McVie preferred alcohol. They are all very talented. My favorite band of all time. Even before Buckingham & Nicks.
@@DaniAtkinson I don't know why people still go on about that....it was a different time...most all bands of that time were on one drug or another. .but it doesn't detract from her awesome performance...she was and still is a beautiful person...and one if not THE best rock singers ever...so glad I grew up through that whole era..would do it all again if I could...
ruclips.net/video/lXrb0DU4ko4/видео.html You are so correct, Stevie is the best. In My opinion the greatest. Check this youtube video of her doing Gold Dust Woman. See how she gets into it totally. I think the best of that song she has ever done. She is one incredible woman and not just as a woman.
Harmony, rythm, melody, singing. Music. No Autotune, no studio fake tricks neither samplings. True musicians. Hip-hopers, rappers and pathetic pop singers, drop you f... shit, go back to school and learn how to make music and sing.
Please don't overlook Christine McVie - Don't Stop, Say You Love Me, Over My Head and for a bit of Fleetwood Mac history Peter Green - Black Magic Woman, Oh Well, Rattlesnake Shake, and instrumentals - Albatross (Fleetwood Mac) & Supernatural (John Mayall Band). You'll hear the influence Peter had on Carlos Santana. Enjoy. And for something completely different - John Butler - Ocean (Live) - High Quality!
Every cut off Fleetwood Mac's "Rumours" album is worth listening to.
Its my favorite album.
All the demos in its entirety as well. That’s where the real gold lies imo.
The preceding self titled Fleetwood Mac too.
Just putting it out there, but the early Peter Green Fleetwood Mac is worth the rabbit hole. Black Magic Woman, Rattlesnake Shake, Oh Well, and many more.
Fantastic group. She was extremely high in this performance. She got help after this.

Love Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac! I'm 73 yrs old and play their CD's in my car. Love them! 💞💞💞
Hi Maryann! So awesome -- keep rocking out!!
Stevie had such a powerful voice. Even in her more gentle songs like Sara the power is there.
This song live is almost a totally different song from the studio version. The raw power in the performance brings the song up to an entirely different plateau. I can't even listen to the studio version anymore.

The song hypnotize you. Amazing.
Hmmm, listening to music since 1960, this may be the greatest performance ever
Stevie Rocks,! Phenomenal work done by all!!
I love how she looks back to let 'em know it's time for her to bring it home. Love her still.

Fleetwood Mac Say You Love Me The Dance 1997. TY.

As per usual, Stevie left everything on the stage.❤😮😊

Other than the 60s.
If you haven't heard it, you should listen to Songbird, which features Christine McVie on lead vocals. Everyone always focuses on Stevie, but Christine's vocals are exquisite.
Remember there is only one Stevie once a million years a woman like her rocks, and it only takes a second to fall for her forever right?
Stevie Nicks is THE GODDESS of Rock n Roll. And it isn't even close.
That "Your life knows no answer" sounds like an ad-libbed directly aimed at the man to her left.
This one's my favorite!
One of the bands that where better live than studio record. The guitar musical jam would have been much longer in concert as well as the intensity and beauty of there songs performed in concert.

FLEETWOOD MAC / STEVIE NICKS / INCREDIBLE VOICE / BIG RESPECT ...
You should react to Stevie’s solo work also...especially her live 1981 performance of Edge of Seventeen.
Bangles Manic Monday & Go-Gos We got the beat
Fleetwood Mac just rocks it. Another timeless song from a great band. Hey Dani what about having a look at some Eva Cassidy? Just a thought.
Surely!
She doesn't blink

Cover this please Dani!
FLEETWOOD MAC, "RIHANNA". I WATCHED EVERY REACTION TO THIS VERSION. EVERYONE IS TAKEN BACK... STEVIE NICKS WAS A BEAUTY...HER PERFORMANCE WAS ART.

Best female rock voice after Janis Joplin ❤❤❤
you have to remember, at this point in history stevie was almost always high, you can see it in her face, she is the song because the rest of her is lost in cocaine.
Actually, this was a little while before the cocaine days.
You should do more stuff on Lindsey Buckinghams solo stuff ( Fleetwood Mac guitarist ) if you like his work, songs Countdown and Trouble for starters.
Nicks and Buckingham turned the Mac into drama central. I preferred the band before that era.
I would love it if you reacted to That's My Job, performed by Conway Twitty. It is a sweet country song.
