RIP Tom one of the greats but his music endures like this gem. Stevie, what a talent and treasure, whether with Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty or Don Henley.
Yes ,the late TOM PETTY ,from my home state Florida ,cannot say I believe in rumors as we all people get never met him ,but he is a wonderful musician, songwriter and his MTV days in the 80's were awsome one in particular Don't come Around here no more Tom and THE HEARTBREAKERS were a visual and wow what earful, god bless and peace to all
Back in 2001 my Dad and I went to a Tom Petty concert with Jackson Browne opening for him. That was a day I'll never forget, a superb show. It was 5 hours from the moment Tom Petty took the stage to when he walked off and in those 5 hours every single song the played was a chart topping hit. Seriously, instantly recognizable, internationally played hits all the way through.
Oh YEAH ! Thanks to all musicians, singers, and songwriters ,not to forget the story telling songs ,My favorite DOLLY PARTON @ ,Bowie ,boy George FREDDIE MERCURY!!!
I’ve heart this song a 1000 times and love it, but I had never seen the video until just now. My god, Stevie Nicks is absolutely radiant and beautiful here. I think my heart melted watching this. I was trying to watch James’ reaction, but I couldn’t take my eyes off her. And that look she gave around 5:03 gave me palpitations 😍 Ok, I’ll shut up now.
Stevie did a couple of more duets with Tom "Insider" & " Needles and Pins" She also did "Leather and Lace" with Don Henley. & "Whenever I Call You Friend" with Kenny Loggins both xxxcellent
She also did a great duet with Robbie Patton (co-writer of Fleetwood Mac's hit "Hold Me") called "Smiling Islands" in 1982. And she had a big hit with John Stewart on "Gold" (People out there turning music into gold).
@@garylindsey5174 It's here on RUclips. Just type in Smiling Islands. He sings the first part, she sings the second. Christine McVie also helped out on his album "Orders From Headquarters" as a thank you for writing the lyrics to Hold Me.
Stevie loved playing with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers she offered to leave Fleetwood Mac to join his band. His guitar player Mike Cambell has replaced Lindsey Buckingham in Fleetwood mac on guitar.
This song came about when the man who was producing both Tom Petty and Stevie Nicks albums (Stevie was also dating him) his name Jimmy Iovine. He introduced them and they asked Tom to write her a song for her solo album. The song he wrote was called "Insider " Tom ended up loving the song so much he decided not to give it to Stevie. He then gave her "Stop dragging my heart around" a new song that he'd been working on but wasn't in love with. They do both songs together as duets. "Insider "didn't get on the charts but "Stop dragging my heart around "did. Both songs are incredible! I am a huge Stevie Nicks fan and love both songs but "Insider" is a better. You should react to that song. Thank God you love Stevie. That's how you got my subscription. Lol
R.I.P. Tom. We lost a great member of the music community with him! Turns out he was in ALOT of pain, physically and emotionally for a long time and told very few people. And who doesn't love Stevie?!? That voice is so distinct that I recognize it within 1 or 2 notes. She's amazing!
I love stevie ,seen Fleetwoodmac in Orlando Florida 1979 ish trying to remember places and n as mes are esc a.c ping me but music I HEAR and wakes up something, in my heart and soul in turn helps my brain shout out to al music LISTENERS,!
Stevie is my favorite female entertainer from my very early adolescent years and up . This song is an ALL TIME CLASSIC!! Tom Petty and Stevie were Amazing 🤩
Ohh Yeah!! Jus Loved hearing Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty doin a duo to this song!! Lotta soul in the music and and Truth to the story bein told! Nice!! thanks for doin a reaction vid for us!!..Peace*
Thanks for the reaction - Stevie and Tom had two of the most unique and iconic voices of rock and they always melded really well. Stevie was also considered an “Honorary Heartbreaker.” Tom even had a platinum “Honorary Heartbreaker” sheriff’s badge made for her at one point. Stevie wrote and composed “Leather and Lace” for Waylon Jennings and Jessie Colter in the early 80s and she ended up recording it with Don Henley. It’s on her first solo record, “Bella Donna”, along with “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around”.
RIP to the iconic artist Tom Petty. Stevie and Tom were very good friends and performed together often. She stated that his death a couple years ago completely devastated her. They made great music together and their voices harmonized to make an exquisite vocal sound. Tom Petty’s death was a huge loss to music in general. He also made incredible music, wrote incredible songs, and gave incredible performances with his band The Heartbreakers. Definitely worth checking his music out. He’s a legend.
Fun Fact: This video was brand new and played on the very first day of MTV's existence (August, 1981). Yes kids, MTV in the '80s was only music videos 24/7!
I remember the Summer this song came out , can’t wait till you can sing along with them you’ll appreciate it even more..and Thanks Sherry, you make music Real for me, Love you forever, so Thankful We went to so many Concerts together, every song I hear , I hear you singing still ❤️
This takes me back. My first introduction to Tom Petty was through this song, seeing the video on MTV back in the day, before I found his own music later on. Honestly, even though I've been a huge Stevie Nicks fan for decades, I had forgotten about this song completely until seeing this reaction brought it all back to me.
Tom Petty co-wrote this song with Mike Campbell. This was going to be a Top Petty & The Heartbreakers song until Petty gave it to Nicks for her Bella Donna album. Her first hit single from the album. Anyway my point is you should listen to Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Amazing songs and they have lot of hits. Learning To Fly, American Girl, Runnin Down A Dream, You Don't Know How It Feels and lots more but there are a few.
Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac were always played on Rock Stations, since their beginnings (London 1967) they are elevated to Classic Rock. They did a reunion tour about 15 years ago, I had great seats and they put on a good show, lots of music to choose from! Never got to see Tom Petty and now it’s too late...
this was one of the first songs I heard when I switched from listening to am pop radio to FM album oriented rock radio. In my area, it was going from 66 WNBC to 95.5 WPLJ. I was like 12 when I found FM. It was such a mind blowing experience!
Stevie asked Tom to write her a song, and the first one he wrote was in her style of music. He liked it so much that he kept it. When he was writing the second song he realized she wanted it to be in his style, so he wrote this one for her
On her last tour Stevie performed this duet with Chrissie Hines from the Pretenders (opening act), and it was just as good. Love this song written by Tom Petty. RIP
The guy she’s singing with, Tom Petty, is a great American songwriter and rock star. He wrote this song. Stevie and Tom had a decades long friendship. He’s a legend and star in his own right.
They did this song when I saw Tom Petty in concert...Stevie did 3 songs with him. Something relevant today is that it was an out door festival seating concert, someone shot off a skyrocket and Tom stopped the show instantly and said "Anyone shooting off fireworks in a crowd is an A hole". Tom didn't wait for 8 people to be killed to have control of the crowd.
Psyched that you are digging Stevie! Tom Petty, I'm still in denial about his passing. He and the Heartbreakers are all over my playlists. I know how he and Stevie got together to collaborate but how did these two get together to collaborate? They have made some really cool music together and were best friends. "Insider" is one of my favorites but I digress. Keeping in the Stevie vein, check out "Sara", "Gold Dust Woman" but live videos are the best way to experience Stevie. In the last 10yrs or so, she has produced some great music and is esteemed as a songwriter. Her influence on current musicians is widespread. Stevie Nicks is, and always will be, a magical, musical force like no other!!!
I've been to see the great Stevie Nicks and Fleetwood Mac several times. The most memorable was the Tusk tour in 1979 at Los Angeles Collisum. They had the whole USC Trojan brass band as their backup. You have to see it. It's amazing. Stevie had on very see through layers of lace and chiffon. Tusk is an amazing song. Hope you choose this. Check out the song Leather and Lace.😍😘
For what it's worth... this is actually Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with Stevie Nicks doing a guest solo. All of the musicians that you see in that video are actually Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Stevie is essentially a guest singer (and she is phenominal) on a Tom Petty song. 70's & some 80' Tom Petty is amazing - it's own Rabbit Hole.
James, I'd like to recommend two other Stevie Nicks songs I think you'd like. One is the 2002 version performed with Sheryl Crow, "Sorcerer." The other is the beautiful & haunting "Every Day." I have fun with your channel. Thanks for being here!
There is an interview with stevie where she pokes fun at herself and says her lip syncing is awful in this video. Pretty funny to hear her critique Herself. Let’s face it, us true Stevie fans love her no matter what she does!!!!
Tom Petty and the heartbreakers are legends themselves. Check out some of their music.
