THANK YOU!!! Oh man, I had Cisco phones at my last job, so these Nortel ones are so complicated in comparison (and the printouts they had for me are so difficult to sort through). Thanks to your video, my life just got a whole lot easier. As others have said, you're the man!
Steve,,, You are the MAN!!! l followed your step by step instructions & l configured my phone. After testing it out, l did my happy dance. lt's all because of you & your teaching skills that made it all work. Thank you thank you for helping me on my project.
Thank you for this video, it is exactly the information I needed to re-record our greetings and paths. Took me 10 minutes instead of hours and probably a huge headache!
Thank you so much for this video and for creating this channel. This video in particular saved me hours of time and much frustration. It also saved hard earned tax payer dollars as I work for a public health department and we would've had to pay the guy-big bucks- to come here to update our auto attendant for us. But with your easy to follow video, I was able to do it with great ease. (Note: I didn't go into the CCR Tree, as it was not needed, and I am thankful b/c it looked super-tricky!) You are the man! and you have a new subscriber! Thanks a million! :)
Well thanks for that praise and heart-warming feedback. THIS is exactly what I hope is happening - ppl solving their own problems with the help of my videos. 😁 Thanks for the subscribe! good day the problem I'am having is the auto attendant pick with the generic message and not the one i record then it transfer to the general delivery mail box the video is informative
Steve, we have multiple phone lines coming into our agency. There is one particular phone line that after a few rings will dump into a particular phone extension and its mailbox. This is what I want to change. How do I navigate to the settings for that particular phone line and remove the extension and set up a general message that no one is available to take the call? I don't want it to transfer to anyone. Thanks in advance!
At the login screen, I've entered the password 1020000 but it says invalid password and I can't get to the AA screen. What is up with the "invalid password"
believe it or not, I still have to look at some of my own videos to remember how to do some of the more complex tasks. :-D Thanks for watching and commenting!
One of our phones has been set up with their own greeting. When the phone is called the greeting that comes on is the company greeting not the personal greeting. Is this a call forward issue? We did #4. nothing changed.
Nortel Norstar ICS phones. Unable to find Admin Password. Secretary was not responsible for the phones and no one at the Church has it either! I need to go in and re-do VERY OLD Greeting, YIKES and HELP.. How do I do this?
Hey Nortel guy, wondering if you can record phone calls on the nortel phone systems? Like is there a log of all the phone calls and the content of those phone calls?
Hello the Nortel Guy-- I am currently trying to replace my company greeting voicemail and replace it with a new one. Once I get to the Admin screen after typing in F983 When I click the tab "AA" it says "Not Allowed"... I have tried every phone in the office and all I have left to do is change the company greeting and I will be all set. Any Ideas???
Is it possible to setup a very simple IVR (almost an Auto Attendat) for home office landline? (caller interaction via keypad, pre-recorded messages, calls must be recorded, static menu, Windows OS, no need to forward calls, ...)
Hi! I'm wondering if it is possible to redirect a caller to another menu set - or another CCR tree with one of the options. We have older software - I think it said 5.05. There is an option to set it to menu, but when I select that option, I'm only allowed to record a message. There is not option for further selections. In the main tree, we seem to be limited to 8 options. Thank you!!
When I get to the option to play or record the auto attendant, it keeps saying "cannot continue" and kicks me out. Any idea on what causes that? Thank you.
Mr. Nortelguy...we have changed our company greeting and now when callers call in and enter an extension, it says invalid extension. You can then enter the extension again and it will transfer it. Any idea of how to fix this problem? Thank you.
Any idea why my system would be changing its date and time on its own. the greeting get mixed up when that happens. it starts playing the after hours greeting like we are closed.?????????
+Steve that is the only logical thing I could come up with. I went thrown videos and time going through the **266344 menu options and the only thing related to time change that might be causing the unwanted change was the option after daylight saving option which says change time automatically. I opted to change that to NO. any recommendations on a certified tech that I could use to change the internal battery of this unit?
there's a company in Tampa that has Nortel techs all over the country. It's First American Business Systems. The other thing you might consider would be to go with a Auto Attendant recording that is the same 24hr/7. That way, it' would not matter what time the phone system thought it was.
Hey Steve I changed my co. greeting but at the end of the new greeting it still plays the old greeting. but the problem for some reason now every time someone calls it automatically jumps to the general mailbox saying to leave a message and the customer is not even hearing the greeting or don't even get to type extension.
couple things there. 1. I suspect the reason you're hearing the old greeting is that it was recorded in the CCR Tree (is is a common problem). You might try disabling the CCR 1. 2. Sounds as though one of the phones has a setting in the phone system programming to forward any ringing call (on that device) to forward to Voicemail. Check "forward on busy" or "fwd no answer" setting in the phone system.
Hi Steve, I recently reprogrammed (deleted and added) voice mailboxes for our office. We have a Nortel T7316E. 1.) The system would not allow me to add more than 21 mailboxes (two of which are employees who no longer work with us). How do I find out or increase the number of voice mailboxes allowed on our system? 2.) I have been unable to delete the two employee's mailboxes. When I try the system shows that they are "info mailboxes."
i've recently changed the AA on my Nortel and after my new recorded message, a female voice comes on that i can't disable and i can't figure out what it is, i made sure the CC trees are all disabled. no luck. could you help me with this?
that built-in Nortel Auto Attendant voice may be somewhat unavoidable. You can try looking for the question where it says "Auto Attendant: Y/N" and set that to "N".
Mr. Steve,I have an issue I cannot wrap my head around. I have a system I created a tree on. Unfortunately, when a call comes in on the main number if not answered it forwards to a persons mail box, if the main line is tied up, the call will roll to the next line available (which is correct). If the call is not answered, the call will enter the tree as expected. So the question is, how do I change the main number 1260 coming in, when not answered to go to the tree???
so if it's ringing on line 1 and no answer, goes to personal voicemail. If it's ringing on line two and no answer, goes to the tree. Sounds as though the line answer settings for line 1 are not set correctly. Is this a Norstar MICS or CICS? Or is this a BCM? (see my website on help with identifying your system www.nortelguy.com)
Looks like a MICS. and yes line 8 is the incoming line and then rolls to 1, 2, 3, etc on the phone set. So what happens is the call comes in, hits line 1. If line one is not busy and the call is not answered, then the call goes to the voice mail of the box office. If line 8 is in use, the call rolls to line 1 of the phone set, and if not answered, will go to the tree and function as normal. This is the same if line 8 and 1 are off hook as it will roll to line 2 and normal. Thank you for any direction, John
now, you do know that line 8 on a MICS is actually line 28? So, be sure the setting in the Voicemail auto attendant is set correctly for line 28 (not 8)
+Kenny Mollitor . Generally no. There were a handful of older models that allowed that ( the ols StarTalk models). And, if you are a clever enough IT person, you could probably rig something that would allow that.
Transferring to an attenant one moment please. Please remain on the line your call is being transferred. Sorry you cannot be transferred because the mailbox has not been setup. Trasnferring to an attendant one moment please.
I know you're incredible busy, but if you have a second, I'd love your help. I set our Executive Director's extension as our "Operator," but now our Company Greeting won't play when the Auto Attendant picks up. Instead, it automatically sends callers to her voicemail. What on earth have I done wrong? We need our company greeting and directory to play :-/

Is it possible to copy the settings from one harddrive to another for the phone system? If so, how would I go about it?

Glad to be helpful. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. 😊👍
Once the auto attendant answers , it takes over 5 rings for the selected voicemail box to answer. How can I control the rings?

Hi Steve , I have a problem diverting calls to a cell phone, the lines are busy after the call was hung up, the disconnection supervision is activated

I followed your directions, but mine still plays an old recording with people no longer with our business!!!
This was a reminder to me for its been a whiile since i've program a call pilot or flash.
believe it or not, I still have to look at some of my own videos to remember how to do some of the more complex tasks. :-D

+The Nortel Guy yesterday I had to program the flash with 6 different path and 3 sub menu's ...thanks again

+Angel Velasquez it may be that the internal battery is going bad. Unfortunately, that kind of fix requires a qualified tech.

+Audrey Veney the voicemail units all come with number of mailboxes limitations. Some can be increased by purchasing a license.

hi I have nortel networks phone and I was wondering how can I reactive a inactive feature
+Goin4Brokee247 usually if you are seeing "inactive feature" on the screen it means something is off-line (usually voicemail).
Excellent guide.
Glad I could help. :-)
The written instructions I was given were terrible. Your video made it click for me and now Our CCR works like a charm!
Do you help with text support?
Providing remote support hasn’t worked well in the past. Sorry. 😕
Can you record the AA remotely with this model?
+Kenny Mollitor . Generally no. There were a handful of older models that allowed that ( the ols StarTalk models). And, if you are a clever enough IT person, you could probably rig something that would allow that.
HOW DO I DELETE????
10/10, helped a ton!
Glad I could help :-)
How i can find this kind of phones
Fakhri, eBay.com is the best place in my opinion. Equipment for Nortel is very inexpensive right now.
Transferring to an attenant one moment please. Please remain on the line your call is being transferred. Sorry you cannot be transferred because the mailbox has not been setup. Trasnferring to an attendant one moment please.
Right… those are all default greets of the builtin CCR tree, Auto Attendant and general delivery mailbox (100).

Did you figure out how to fix this? Same thing just happened at my work.
Same here. I've tried everything. I need some help!
Steve I will pay for a two hour tutorial on the auto attendant
Max, I'm sorry. Just too busy with daytime engagements.
Nortel V/M are a pain, thanks
