Hello! My question is that my transition from 8th to 9th grade was tough, I wasn't supposed to be in an ESL class in 8th grade but the school put me in that class because there no seats in regular classes, so it didn't prepare me for high school since ESL classes were much easier than a regular class, it did affect my 9th-grade grades since there's a big difference in ESL classes and honor classes, I took honor classes in 9th grade. It has a big influence on my freshman year grades. Do you think should explain that to colleges and they'll understand and take it into consideration? So maybe they can focus on my sophomore and Junior year grades. And SAT. I think they will understand my GPA and class rank as well because of that. Does this count as an extenuating circumstance? And during the spring semester, because COVID-19 just started, my family moved and I couldn't be able to attend classes like usual and which results in my inability to complete the assignments assigned by my teachers. Thank you for your help!
If you feel this would help the admissions officers understand your circumstances, I think writing something in the additional info section is a good idea!
