Literally that exact moment is the reason I really got into TF2. I was trying out pyro on some Halloween map, and our top scoring medic looked over at me with full kritz, and popped it on me right as we turned a corner into literally the entire enemy team (at least 12-13 enemies) and we wiped them out in 4 seconds. That was one of the greatest moments I have ever had in TF2, and too this day, though I don’t remember his name, I still credit him for bringing me into this game, though I mostly stick to pyro for... obvious reasons. I do go heavy for chokepoints and medic if there isn’t one though.

This frankly made me feel better about the string of games I ran into last night. Because, man... it got a bit depressing after a bit. The thing that stuck out to me the most was how I was in a not-too-full server, a team of 6 (my team, blue), and a team of 7 (red, obviously), and my team was comprised of two soldiers (both market gardeners), two snipers, a medic (me), and a phlog pyro. From what I remember of the red team, they had a heavy/medic combo with matching unusuals, an engineer, a soldier with a Hale's Own Aussie black box, a gibus spy who clearly was only wearing only the gibus to make people underestimate him, an airblast-happy pyro, and a machina sniper with an unusual, and everything painted lime green. So... yeah, even teams. I asked the rest of my teammates to switch to something better repeatedly, but the market garden soldiers said I was a "stupid cunt who doesn't understand shit about this game", and nobody else would respond. They just stuck with their classes and loadouts that clearly weren't getting anything done. We touched the cart three times, at most, every round. Never made any progress. But I didn't understand the game, I guess. I had the most kills (not assists, but kills) out of all of my team. That doesn't mean I was just jumping around with the syringe gun like an idiot, I just managed to fend off a few people here and there after the soldiers repeatedly kept stupidly overextending and trying to market garden the ubered heavy or the level 3 sentry gun. I dunno why I didn't leave the server sooner. I sat through, like, 4 rounds, and when nobody else would join the goddamn server, the teams switched, and they just rolled us... again, I finally left. (I had to finally get out some of my salt after this. Because... c'mon, man.)
I personally love new players, whether on the same team or not. Because they're so adorable, and you can teach them neat little tricks and help them learn the game better

I totally agree. I taught an engineer how to make a sentry and upgrade it. We spent the whole round defending and we won. I'm glad I made one of their first tf2 experiences fun

I know those moments. When I do well as a medic, there's a chance we'll have 4 of them in the next round. So I play something else. Two minutes later, there are no medics anymore.
I have MAD respect for pub meds on bad teams, they will almost always overhead the engi main (me) and will generally be the best people to play with, they can also be the Turing point of a game.
I always give engies an overheal when I pass, when they move stuff, or when their nest gets spammed. It often costs a second because engies get a full buff ridiculously fast, since they're out of battle a lot of the time. There's a solid chance that this buff will save us a level 3 building if not an entire nest. Or you invest 20x the time into a bad soldier who overestimates your heal rate and keeps getting backstabbed by the same spy, because he never turns around and never hears you say "ACHTUNG, SPY!"
Omg, when you said you can uber new players to give them a moment of glory, and a killstreak that they will tell their friends about, I honestly dropped a tear (maybe because I was eating onion lol). You're a god of pubs, Array, playing medic isn't that rewarding, but making someone's game better is trully the best thing you could think of.
*Hey Array* I'm not a good TF2 player by any stretch of the imagination, hell, I don't even have the game, I just play it over at my buddy's house when I visit him, and damn, I love playing medic, the feeling of being a noob and yet helping the team in a really great way is just awesome. Anyways, that little moment at the end that you had was exactly like the one I had a few months ago. I was making the final push in that game with a Soldier, a Demo and a Gibus Pyro, my friend (who was coaching me) told me not to waste Uber on him because he's a noob, but I still did because I believed in that Pyro. He was a noob, but he was determined to set aflame the entire team with his passion. Together we managed to get a 4/6 kill streak, with his powerful W+M1 skills. We wrecked them and literally 5 seconds later we won. My friend laughed at the carnage that had ensued and affectionately dubbed him: "The little Pyro who could." PS: even if I don't play TF2 all that often, I still love watching your stuff, it's awesome ;)
I actually don't mind when good medics ask for classes to heal... however I'm not overly fond of under-performing players demanding the teams MVP's change to medic to assist them... Often times healing poor players only ends up with very healed poor players :/

Just got out of a game pocketing for a heavy... it was so much fun as he knew how to take care of his pocket and I only had to ditch him a few times when he was overwhelmed at the objective :) ended the game of upward with the heavy getting 75 kills a true monster...
You guys don't know the half of the pain, I went on a team of entirely Gibbus-pyrovision free2play snipers. Needless to say I lost as they were in the battlements. I thought "if you can't beat them join them" so I put on a Gibbus and the Pyrovision goggles on and sat scoped.
I remember one time I had a team with a bunch of spies and someone said “we should just have a team full of spies” and I thought “screw it, it’s casual, I’ll join the fun!” Obviously not everyone went spy, but we still had a large number of spies. We actually somehow won the match even. EDIT: So recently another similar match happened, but with scouts equipped with bonk entirely. I guess the enemy didn't expect the sudden wave of invincible scouts and we got the first point pretty easily, then we just got stuck at the second point and kept trying different teams of only one class in hopes we'd get a capture as stupid as the first point. It didn't work well unfortunately.
One time i was Scout the whole match, the team was stupid enough of having literally a sniper to defend the intel, i capped twice, the third was difficult, we had a BIG area denial on the main and their spawn, so their recently built 2 Lvl. 3 Sentry (That me and my friends coordinated to destroy) Were now on the main area, after being destroyed, there was literally no one to protect the intel, besides a medic-heavy, but because i was too fast, i escaped from there alive and won the match.
this reminds me of a pl_hoodoo match i was on a few months ago, we were on offense, and literally everyone went heavy/medic except one sniper. needless to say, we decimated the whole team 3/3 times. shit was hilarious
I remember when i was a F2P, i was playing on a Control Point map, and i saw that there is only one more point until we won, so i go Scout and i sneak up behind them, and i capped it myself and won because no one on the team is close to the last point... (Even though they are a very good team.)
If my team needs a medic but nobody goes medic I just switch from scout to medic. But then they yell at me for not getting that mlg crusaders shot from across the map.
This actually happened to me once. I'm still fairly new to tf2 ( about 130 hours) but I remember that I was trying out spy with YER and Deadringer and I wasn't getting any kills and dying about 20 times a match. This one guy tried to kick me since I wasn't doing squat but luckily I wasn't kicked and this one medic told me to keep trying and so that's what I did. I deadringered behind the enemy team and I killed about half their team in one go. To any newbies trying out the game, don't give up it gets better and one day you can become that really good tf2 player that everyone is jealous of. Keep on trying people.

I can't lie, I get a bad case of the "fuck its" all the time in pubs. Playing medic isn't fun if your team has brain damage, but maybe I should keep a lighter attitude about the game lol.
Array's cackling here with the pyro is exactly why I play medic myself. It's a hell of a lot of fun to just commit some egregious act of "fuck it" and have everything work out well somehow.
Great video. I love how it doesn't focus on just one person to blame but gives advice on how to help those who are new or don't play much pub and it's great. Even with a bad team a medic can still turn that team around just by talking which most teams don't do in pub and casual. Another great up on the medic advice Array, keep it up
If the patient is under 142.5% Health the ubercharge will build at the optimal rate of 2.5% per second, 40 seconds to build. The reduced healing items will keep them under this percentage longer, meaning more optimal build time. The longer they are under 142.5% the longer you will build optimally. Once they get over 142.5% ,however, the reduced healing does not mean anything. It is not the weapons doing anything to affect build, the weapons just keep the user under a certain percentage longer.
I've become so used to solo healing bad teams in pubs, I can usually just get uber by landing a majority of my crossbow shots in combination with my medigun. They normally don't have the skills to dodge enemy projectiles, so hitting them with a bolt for an instant 150 health is much easier The only disadvantage is that heavies seem to think they're invincible once they have about 9 candy canes popping out the side of their head.

I find the best way to get someone to switch is when you say that you are switching too. Most of the time I’ll say “someone go heavy or medic, I’ll go the other” that usually works

1:46 to 2:53 - Sorry to say that this here do not work... May be because I'm from Denmark/Europe and thus plays with people from that area. People always goes spy; when they are 'spawn camped' or 'rolled'. I most of the time fight alone against >1, which often leads to defeat. Sure you may have teammates, but they are in spawn, wrong way or dead already. I'm sad to say that this really anoy me. When the charm of TF2 in my opinion, is that all can play how they want D: Good team isn't a need. But at least someone that understand english or know what the box in bottom-left corner is for. (Im a medic myself.)
I remember going on a match filled to the brim with bots, they were on their way to our spawn to spawn camp, I switched to medic, used the vaccinator and used the bullet resistance ubercharge on a demo that looked like he had installed the game just a few minutes ago, since the bots were grouped together and the demo got a random crit, we destroyed the entire team of bots with one pipe Edit: you have not experienced true satisfaction until you help kill an entire team of bots with 1 pipe
Story time: So I'm on Suijin, chilling as soldier, killing people, nothing wrong with that right? A bunch of new players decide to go engineer, they obviously only spent their time on trade severs cause they're all building ON THE LEFT OF SPAWN (red-side). The worst part is, they refused to fucking move, their sentries were completely useless, they were practically idle players with thumbs up their asses. Surprisingly we lost both rounds because of those engies, it was completely frustrating, Gah gets me mad thinking about it
ArraySeven man, i get that the class screen is not good for new players, but you gotta understand this is not Overwatch. If the class screen were to give advices, those advices have to be atleast 9-12 and mind you there have to be atleast 3 color patterns to show how much the team needs that specific class. Lines like : Team needs more offensive classes, team needs more defensive or supporing classes just ain't gonna work because each class has it's unique role and must be called out individually - team needs medic, team needs soldier etc. and even then it's still janky. Making advice tips for a game like TeamFortess 2 is not so easy, and if they decide to make it, it will take a lot of time.
Power, support, and pick are the 3 main catagories All the system would need to do is remind players if there are not enough power classes That's literally it. Easy.
mvtjets That technically means that the game would think you’re team is “balanced” with 4 engies (support), 4 heavies (defense), and 4 scouts (offense). It’s good in theory, but if I had to suggest a fix it’d be a confirmation box saying “You’re team already has two of this class. Are you sure you want to switch to it?” (Of course, disable-able in options for those stupid “all sniper” pub rounds)

To be honest the best thing about playing as medic is helping new players to have their first kills and actually maybe make them have fun and not just die every five seconds
To be honest, there are some rare games where 5-6 players on your team are really competent, where it seems as if everyone's following some sort of divine plan to the letter, not giving a single moment for enemy team to show any sort of resistance while objectives either are capped non-stop or are never touched.
i was once in a great team we had a solid team composition but our two medics, one was great but was always with her heavy boyfriend, the other one did the job but didnt know how to use the ubercharge. and he was the one pushing against the defenses with us and he didnt use his uber, then i told him to switch to demoman and he did i went medic to replace him and we dominated the other team after he and i switched, it was the best game i had on Turbine
One of my favorite things about shit teams is when you join mid match and see them getting pounded, I pick medic or engi and slowly drag the win for the team. It is so satisfying to watch the enemy team slam face first into my sentry gun cutting down the first wave and giving my team a chance to regroup and counter attack, each point captured is anchored by my gun cementing progress. When I pick medic there is no greater feeling then watching a teammate with the dodging skills of a house plant live through enough missiles to level a fortress and knowing you are the sole reason that person lived to clear the point.
Reaching 900, 260 as the medic. When some (mostly russian) guy tells me to shut the f up, i just tell him random compliments, which is surprisingly effective somehow x) . Or i teach him about the mute button.
I believe It was a coincidence of the Skymin Slash playing on a bad team yesterday. Her video was a big example of bad team. But here is the deal these teams you were assigned are random and it Will always be. I guarantee at least once you played on a bad team and once on a godlike team. Dont deny.
getting a thanks off another player after healing them is the best reward. its just as awesome as healing or hitting a target from a distance using the crossbow. :)

I always give engies an overheal when I pass, when they move stuff, or when their nest gets spammed. It often costs a second because engies get a full buff ridiculously fast, since they're out of battle a lot of the time.
There's a solid chance that this buff will save us a level 3 building if not an entire nest. Or you invest 20x the time into a bad soldier who overestimates your heal rate and keeps getting backstabbed by the same spy, because he never turns around and never hears you say "ACHTUNG, SPY!"

I'm not a good TF2 player by any stretch of the imagination, hell, I don't even have the game, I just play it over at my buddy's house when I visit him, and damn, I love playing medic, the feeling of being a noob and yet helping the team in a really great way is just awesome.
Anyways, that little moment at the end that you had was exactly like the one I had a few months ago. I was making the final push in that game with a Soldier, a Demo and a Gibus Pyro, my friend (who was coaching me) told me not to waste Uber on him because he's a noob, but I still did because I believed in that Pyro.
He was a noob, but he was determined to set aflame the entire team with his passion.
Together we managed to get a 4/6 kill streak, with his powerful W+M1 skills. We wrecked them and literally 5 seconds later we won.
My friend laughed at the carnage that had ensued and affectionately dubbed him: "The little Pyro who could."
PS: even if I don't play TF2 all that often, I still love watching your stuff, it's awesome ;)

I actually don't mind when good medics ask for classes to heal... however I'm not overly fond of under-performing players demanding the teams MVP's change to medic to assist them... Often times healing poor players only ends up with very healed poor players :/

You guys don't know the half of the pain, I went on a team of entirely Gibbus-pyrovision free2play snipers. Needless to say I lost as they were in the battlements. I thought "if you can't beat them join them" so I put on a Gibbus and the Pyrovision goggles on and sat scoped.
I remember one time I had a team with a bunch of spies and someone said “we should just have a team full of spies” and I thought “screw it, it’s casual, I’ll join the fun!” Obviously not everyone went spy, but we still had a large number of spies. We actually somehow won the match even.
EDIT: So recently another similar match happened, but with scouts equipped with bonk entirely. I guess the enemy didn't expect the sudden wave of invincible scouts and we got the first point pretty easily, then we just got stuck at the second point and kept trying different teams of only one class in hopes we'd get a capture as stupid as the first point. It didn't work well unfortunately.

One time i was Scout the whole match, the team was stupid enough of having literally a sniper to defend the intel, i capped twice, the third was difficult, we had a BIG area denial on the main and their spawn, so their recently built 2 Lvl. 3 Sentry (That me and my friends coordinated to destroy) Were now on the main area, after being destroyed, there was literally no one to protect the intel, besides a medic-heavy, but because i was too fast, i escaped from there alive and won the match.
this reminds me of a pl_hoodoo match i was on a few months ago, we were on offense, and literally everyone went heavy/medic except one sniper. needless to say, we decimated the whole team 3/3 times. shit was hilarious
I remember when i was a F2P, i was playing on a Control Point map, and i saw that there is only one more point until we won, so i go Scout and i sneak up behind them, and i capped it myself and won because no one on the team is close to the last point... (Even though they are a very good team.)

If my team needs a medic but nobody goes medic I just switch from scout to medic. But then they yell at me for not getting that mlg crusaders shot from across the map.

This actually happened to me once. I'm still fairly new to tf2 ( about 130 hours) but I remember that I was trying out spy with YER and Deadringer and I wasn't getting any kills and dying about 20 times a match. This one guy tried to kick me since I wasn't doing squat but luckily I wasn't kicked and this one medic told me to keep trying and so that's what I did. I deadringered behind the enemy team and I killed about half their team in one go. To any newbies trying out the game, don't give up it gets better and one day you can become that really good tf2 player that everyone is jealous of. Keep on trying people.
At 130 hours you're technically an infant, but yeah keep trying, at 500+ hours the learning curve kicks in

heal rate does not affect uber rate. overheal reduces uber rate.
If the patient is under 142.5% Health the ubercharge will build at the optimal rate of 2.5% per second, 40 seconds to build. The reduced healing items will keep them under this percentage longer, meaning more optimal build time. The longer they are under 142.5% the longer you will build optimally. Once they get over 142.5% ,however, the reduced healing does not mean anything. It is not the weapons doing anything to affect build, the weapons just keep the user under a certain percentage longer.

I've become so used to solo healing bad teams in pubs, I can usually just get uber by landing a majority of my crossbow shots in combination with my medigun. They normally don't have the skills to dodge enemy projectiles, so hitting them with a bolt for an instant 150 health is much easier
The only disadvantage is that heavies seem to think they're invincible once they have about 9 candy canes popping out the side of their head.

May be because I'm from Denmark/Europe and thus plays with people from that area. People always goes spy; when they are 'spawn camped' or 'rolled'.
I most of the time fight alone against >1, which often leads to defeat. Sure you may have teammates, but they are in spawn, wrong way or dead already.
I'm sad to say that this really anoy me. When the charm of TF2 in my opinion, is that all can play how they want D:

on point three everyone was on last and on last everyone was nowhere to be found.
I remember going on a match filled to the brim with bots, they were on their way to our spawn to spawn camp, I switched to medic, used the vaccinator and used the bullet resistance ubercharge on a demo that looked like he had installed the game just a few minutes ago, since the bots were grouped together and the demo got a random crit, we destroyed the entire team of bots with one pipe
Edit: you have not experienced true satisfaction until you help kill an entire team of bots with 1 pipe
Story time: So I'm on Suijin, chilling as soldier, killing people, nothing wrong with that right? A bunch of new players decide to go engineer, they obviously only spent their time on trade severs cause they're all building ON THE LEFT OF SPAWN (red-side). The worst part is, they refused to fucking move, their sentries were completely useless, they were practically idle players with thumbs up their asses. Surprisingly we lost both rounds because of those engies, it was completely frustrating, Gah gets me mad thinking about it
try having a server with engis but they dont even build sentries.

ArraySeven man, i get that the class screen is not good for new players, but you gotta understand this is not Overwatch. If the class screen were to give advices, those advices have to be atleast 9-12 and mind you there have to be atleast 3 color patterns to show how much the team needs that specific class. Lines like : Team needs more offensive classes, team needs more defensive or supporing classes just ain't gonna work because each class has it's unique role and must be called out individually - team needs medic, team needs soldier etc. and even then it's still janky. Making advice tips for a game like TeamFortess 2 is not so easy, and if they decide to make it, it will take a lot of time.
Power, support, and pick are the 3 main catagories
All the system would need to do is remind players if there are not enough power classes

It’s good in theory, but if I had to suggest a fix it’d be a confirmation box saying “You’re team already has two of this class. Are you sure you want to switch to it?” (Of course, disable-able in options for those stupid “all sniper” pub rounds)

To be honest the best thing about playing as medic is helping new players to have their first kills and actually maybe make them have fun and not just die every five seconds

To be honest, there are some rare games where 5-6 players on your team are really competent, where it seems as if everyone's following some sort of divine plan to the letter, not giving a single moment for enemy team to show any sort of resistance while objectives either are capped non-stop or are never touched.
and this is why I love playing medic. even though I'm not that good at it.

i was once in a great team we had a solid team composition but our two medics, one was great but was always with her heavy boyfriend, the other one did the job but didnt know how to use the ubercharge. and he was the one pushing against the defenses with us and he didnt use his uber, then i told him to switch to demoman and he did i went medic to replace him and we dominated the other team after he and i switched, it was the best game i had on Turbine

One of my favorite things about shit teams is when you join mid match and see them getting pounded, I pick medic or engi and slowly drag the win for the team. It is so satisfying to watch the enemy team slam face first into my sentry gun cutting down the first wave and giving my team a chance to regroup and counter attack, each point captured is anchored by my gun cementing progress. When I pick medic there is no greater feeling then watching a teammate with the dodging skills of a house plant live through enough missiles to level a fortress and knowing you are the sole reason that person lived to clear the point.
