    With bigger tires, a re-gear, and the Bison package, Colorado ZR2 is plenty capable on the Rubicon trail or any other trail. Might as well throw in the diesel option while you're at it. I am looking forward to seeing what the next generation of these truck bring to the dirt.

    So in regards to the zr2, it is a very capable off-road vehicle but some small modifications need to be made: 1 inch lift front and rear, 33 or 35 inch tires, trimming the fender wells, skid plates and regearing. Keep in mind you will need to do the same to any stock or new jeep.

    does the bronco not have a front locker? i noticed on the most difficult obstacle neither vehicle had a front locker engaged.
    i have a 2021 zr2 with a peak coil over lift, 34 inch swampers and 4.56 gears. i'm fairly certain that i would keep up with the bronco as it would be a more even comparison. i would have the advantage on steep climbs due to the longer wb. good video. i guess the long term test will be how they are behaving at 150,000 miles.

      It does, just didn’t engage it right away. And we’ll see if I can convince mom to maybe do some mods to get the ZR2 a little more clearance haha I really like the ZR2 it’s my favorite midsize truck just needs a couple of things to be a little “better” off-road on the harder stuff.

    The 3.6 V6 does not have the torque like the old 4.3 V6, but it is much faster, the ZR2 is rad. Improvements needed more backseat headroom, 33 tires, and a camera. Chevy will address much of this in the new one.

    I have a 2019 ZR2 , been contemplating selling it one day for a Bronco . The extent of my off road has been snow driving in Colorado to a ski lounge, big bend trips and wet grass . I just want a vehicle with more cabin space . I don’t think I’ve used my truck bed as much as I thought over the years .

    I’ve been noticing in several videos the Bronco struggles up hills where articulation is needed. The Bronco’s traction control is terrible! The Jeeps “BLD” is far superior. Have you noticed?

  • @jeffreyjohnston6843
    @jeffreyjohnston6843 2 года назад +5

    why didn't we see the bronco go up that area where you hit the front of the Colorado it seems your trying to give the impression the bronco made it which i don't think it could and i it did it would be difficult for it . hay why don't you jump them ,so people can see that your bronco has a weak suspension compared to the Colorado. the Colorado can be jumped and ruff housed and hold up well. where as your bronco is trying to look like a real off road vehicle but is very weak . put 35s on the Colorado and you will really show the bronco up. go back to where you smashed the Colorado and lets see what the bronco does. that not a good comparison ,guys who know what they are doing show both vehicles on the exact same track following the same lines. your one of these guys that makes videos to try to make you inferior vehicle look better then the other get a different hobby you suck at this one

    • @drivenmad2089
      @drivenmad2089  2 года назад

      Wow. So did you watch the rest of the video where they went up the same stuff to compare or did you just stop there? Also the reason I didn’t show the bronco go up is for a few reasons, 1 I’ve done that same obstacle in the bronco did it struggle, sure a little, but it was able to go up it as well as having done it in my wrangler already, videos on both, 2 if the The bronco went up I would then have to come right back down so the bronco and Colorado could continue to hit the trail together as the Colorado wouldn’t make it up there. And 3 I was focusing on getting the Colorado out of that spot without doing more damage. I’m not sure why you would think that a vehicle with 4 inch larger tires, more ground clearance and a much better approach, breakover and departure angle wouldn’t be more capable in certain scenarios, like going up large rocks. It has nothing to do with me “trying to make the ZR2 look bad”. That’s just it’s short coming when compared to a vehicle like a bronco or a wrangler(which I have 2 of so Im definitely not biased towards the bronco)
      Yes the Colorado is also designed to jump as well, but I said in the video it wanted to compare more slow speed rock crawling style things. Hence, why later in the video, I stated where the Colorado is better.

    • @drivenmad2089
      @drivenmad2089  2 года назад

      They are very capable, but they’re not as capable as the bronco or either of my wranglers. The “cliff” I ran into my other vehicles have made it up. For midsize trucks the ZR2 is the best in my opinion but it needs a few things to make it a closer comparison to something like a wrangler or bronco. There are a couple of trials at hidden falls that the ZR2 would not be able to make it up bone stock simply due to lack of ground clearance, tire size, break over angler etc that the others would. As a overland vehicle it would be awesome. But like I said at the end of the video, not something I’d take stock to the rubicon trail.

Im sorry but its really a breakdown at the end of the day of driver ability. Jeeps and Trucks do not wheel the same. Try bajaing in a jeep LOL you cant control them at high speed like the zr2 and forget the bronco the front end will collapse. If your going to do comparisons you need to do exact and do your research on each vehicle so you know how to properly operate them
