-- Not to take anything from Roy, but it's so good to see you back around, Paul. Might I suggest for your pack: Honey. Lasts for hundreds of years, decent first aid uses, you can eat it. I would also strongly suggest, in the spirit of bugout bags: always have a spare pair of shoes in your vehicle. And your everyday driver is a good place to stash your bag as it's with you or nearby pretty much wherever you go. Finally for a firearm. What I have packed now is a Diamondback Sidekick .22 WMR with also a quick change .22lr cylinder. It's 9 short, double action with a swing out cylinder. I carry 2 speed loaders in a pouch which attaches to the holster. 100rds of both ammo types, and I have one emergency bag in my bugout bag. The idea for that being, if I have my equipment deployed at 'camp' and have to leave with no time to pack up, I can grab 1 bag that will give me access to a small amount of critical items, that could get me by a little longer. Again, great to see you.
16:20 Loud whistle, good compass and map of the area, tourniquet(s), pain meds, antibiotics, and a small harmonica. (Music can be a tourniquet for the mind, give comfort and keep hope alive. There's a harmonica in every kit I have and every vehicle. It's a great gift to place in care packages or hand out to anyone as a thank you instead of a Starbucks card.)
having your pack with you cannot be underestimated. Case in point - I went on a family holiday recently, by car, and didnt put a "survival kit" in the car as I thought it was going to just be a paranoid move, not needed, and the car was kind of full. So instead I shoved a small tool kit inside an old cloth into one of the body panels accesible from inside the car behind the trim, and I put a tiny survival kit in the car, poncho, blanket, medical kit ( have small children so need band aids) and a bottle of water. This combined with the tool kit and the radio in the car, would have given me some reasonable options if things had gone badly, but it would have not been anywhere near sufficient to get me home in a proper scenario. What happened? during my weekend away, only a carrington sized solar flare! something i have been wondering about for decades, happened while me and my family were away from everything else we have ready to help us out in an emergency..... Luckily it seems that we have come a long way since the carrington event and basically nothing noteworthy happened, luckily, id have been toast if it did .
A thought provoking exposition. I don’t carry a large knife in the kit so there is no risk of being charged with a weapon if I cross into a state with self defense hostility, I like the idea of a small hatchet as an alternative, and will look into that more. I wish I could pack a firearm into my 3-Day pack (I call it a go-bag, or go-kit), but since the pack is stowed in the car, I fret about risk of theft and the weapon falling into the wrong hands. Lastly, honorable mention: meds. The older you get the more likely you’re taking something regularly. The challenge here is that many meds are relatively sensitive to the summer heat and being left in a hot car day in and out is not a good thing. I have not solved this problem yet, but having 3 days of your prescription meds on hand is important too. Good to see Paul and thanks for the video
As a licensed ham, I'd highly recommend a scanner. Learn to use it and program in everything local and surrounding counties. Happy Memorial Day guys. So glad to see Paul up and about and starting to sound like his old self. And not surprised at all that his pack includes Pop Tarts.
I’m sure that most of us would hate to admit it, but the information in this video is far more likely to save your life than anything in any of Paul‘s other firearms related videos. The odds that you will get into a shooting versus the odds that some kind of disaster, riot, etc will occur where you might need to survive for a couple of days without modern conveniences are wildly disproportionate, but often it’s the less exciting stuff that will make the difference. Great to see Paul back on camera again.
That was 23 minutes well spent... Can't wait for the long version. I doubt there'll be a single wasted second on that video either. It's good to see you, Paul, glad you're still hangin' in there.
@@leftyo9589 I was just thinking to myself that this is either a video that was filmed a couple of months ago or Paul was has gained a little bit of weight and looks better than in previous videos. I hope the latter is the truth 🤞
Lost my Dad to cancer last October. He kept fighting till the end. And here I am, acting weak in spirit and courage, when told I have a 50/50 chance of loosing all vision after a surgery I must have. I wish I could be more like my Dad, and Paul.
As they say, God won't test you more than you can stand. That's why he doesn't send tornadoes to California. The Californians can never stand them. You got this buddy. Hang in there.
Paul, good to see you on the channel dispensing your wisdom once more. I'm an Aussie infanteer myself so it has always been good to watch your channel, though of course have always been more interested in your rifle and shotgun work than the pistol stuff as its pretty illegal here in Australia unfortunately. You do remind me these days of a bloke I knew out in NT who had been caught by a croc when he was pitching his tent - he managed to beat the 20 foot croc to death with the hammer he had in his hand, then remove his leg from the croc's mouth and tourniquet what was left up just below the knee, dose himself up on water and painkillers, then drive himself to hospital 4 1/2 hours to get himself treated. He never said never, and nor do I think you do. Praying for you bud.
I am out on a bike ride and stopped for a hydrating moment, wearing your "Legends " shirt. Just happened to see your vid. It is so good seeing you on an extended appearance. God Bless you all.
Nice to see Paul again, and in good form! In my opinion, I never look at these as "3 day" packs, but more like "AT LEAST 3 days". For 72 hours or less, all you really need is some water, couple protein bars, firestarters, and a poncho, because all your really need is food, water, and shelter from the elements. That much can essentially go in a small pouch or bag. I'm talking basic emergency, not comfort. Anything beyond that is to help extend your survival if the emergency goes beyond just a few days, or to make it more comfortable. You don't really need soap and a toothbrush to survive 3 days, but it's sure nice to have. Same with more food and water! I think looking at it like that changes how you think about what to pack in one, and how you set it up. Like having a lightweight survival kit you strap to your waist, instead of or in addition to a larger one that you might rather leave in the car. You might want the big bag in an emergency, but you can live without it. If you end up needing the survival kit, you might not live without it. In that case, every bag could (in my mind should) contain or have attached to it a smaller emergency kit you can easily remove and take with you if you want or need to leave the pack.
Love it that Paul is looking much better! One thing I'm missing from these 3 day emergency packs is a compass and a map. There is no reason not to put a compass and a map of your local area in your pack even if its just a 3 day pack.
I don't usually comment but felt compelled to drop a huge, huge thanks for emphasizing the need to make a kit specific to your region! Born, raised and still live in hurricane county and I've seen way too many transplants leave themselves totally in the wind being prepared with emergency supplies... For a blizzard!
The caring tone of voice and the charismatic power of character aren't gone in the least. Happy to see you again mr Harrell, stay strong for us. We love you, sir.
Oh what a great video guys. We have had a terrible week here in Texas, Tornadoes, hail, heavy rain, etc. Spent some time using my generator and eating pre-cooked foods. I did not really need the 3 day pack or a bug out bag. But this week and THIS video got me to re thinking and re "loading" my pack. VERY useful info here, so thank you again from RATTLED Texas. So great to see you both.
Roy here. Good to know you were prepared. Idea here is the disaster happens and you are stuck at work or in your vehicle or have to walk home. Thanks for watching.
Good to see Paul this memorial day weekend. Keep fighting Paul. You sound better than ever. God bless you and Roy and the crew. I would carry the tiny Browning 1911 in 380acp if I was Paul. 😊
🤣The facial expressions @ the 9 minute 10 second mark. Paul evaluating the threat risk, dismissing it and then considering eating lunch - all in one second!
I’ve often said: “pre made kits aren’t tailored to your region or specific needs”. As an Alabama resident theres plenty of water and it rains fairly frequently so for my bags i didn’t pack a lot of water but i do have water purification tablets, sawyer straws, and single layer stainless steel bottles/cups. As for food depending on space: 2-3 bacon flavored spam and or one MRE. In my opinion the best small game “survival rifle” is actually a revolver and it’s specifically the Heritage Rough Rider, i like the manual safety, i like the ability to use a .22lr/short cylinder and a .22 wmr cylinder good for squirrel to coyote sized game. The saying “ammo is cheap your life is not” is why i pack a minimum of 300 rounds of .22lr and 50 rounds of .22 wmr. I highly recommend this revolver to anyone who has a bug out bag, get home bag, or hiking bag. I have the 7.5 inch version but its up to your preference. I did watch Paul Harrell’s video on the HRR .22lr barrel length’s but he didn’t do that same test with .22 wmr if my memory serves me correctly. Basically he determined that for .22lr the best barrel length was 4.25 i believe. However since i keep the .22 wmr cylinder i wanted the extra barrel length.
Paul look stronger and has force in his voice, good to see.
Never back down and keep up the good fight.

Happy Memorial Day guys. So glad to see Paul up and about and starting to sound like his old self. And not surprised at all that his pack includes Pop Tarts.
A blessing to have him speak again about this subject especially in these times.
Paul, my family and I are constantly praying for you and your family. Hang tough my brother.
Hitchhikers Guide? OMG, the great Paul Harrel always knows where his towel is!
That was 23 minutes well spent... Can't wait for the long version. I doubt there'll be a single wasted second on that video either.
It's good to see you, Paul, glad you're still hangin' in there.
Paul’s voice sounds strong.
TY, both.
i hope this was filmed recently, as he looks better than the last vids he was seen in, but i would wager this was filmed a while ago.
@@leftyo9589 I was just thinking to myself that this is either a video that was filmed a couple of months ago or Paul was has gained a little bit of weight and looks better than in previous videos. I hope the latter is the truth 🤞
So Much Common Sense here, 🥰🥰🥰
Lost my Dad to cancer last October.
He kept fighting till the end.
And here I am, acting weak in spirit and courage, when told I have a 50/50 chance of
loosing all vision after a surgery I must have.
I wish I could be more like my Dad, and Paul.
As they say, God won't test you more than you can stand. That's why he doesn't send tornadoes to California. The Californians can never stand them. You got this buddy. Hang in there.

Glad to see you on camera Paul!
Looking good and sounding great! It's always nice to see you Paul!
Today is my birthday. And seeing Paul back in the saddle is a great birthday present!
Hopefully he's on the road to recovery?
Damn, I could sit and listen to the cadence of your speech for hours. Every day with you putting out a video is a great day.
I am out on a bike ride and stopped for a hydrating moment, wearing your "Legends " shirt. Just happened to see your vid. It is so good seeing you on an extended appearance. God Bless you all.
YES MORE PAUL CONTENT. Keep fighting Paul, we believe in you.
Keep fighting, Paul. We are praying for you. Good to see and hear you.
Thanks Paul
Buy em by the dozen,!
Check for reliably offen!
Can get with liquid parfen in the crystal to use as fire tinder
Great to see you Paul!!!
you made my day : )
Paul looks great in this video and I am praying that he has many peaceful and happy days ahead.
God bless you Paul….
Thank you very much paul
You look like your doing much better , Paul . God Bless You !
Great to see you Paul!
Good to see Paul this memorial day weekend. Keep fighting Paul. You sound better than ever. God bless you and Roy and the crew. I would carry the tiny Browning 1911 in 380acp if I was Paul. 😊
@@DW133_It is definitely a real and accepted name.
@@DW133_ OK, then tell off anyone who says suppressor.
Paul looks the best I've seen him in some time and sounds great! Talk about a sweet Sunday surprise!
It's really good to see Paul getting out and about. Get well and keep up the fight.
Glad to see Paul.. Yes same as conceal carry got to be with you. Prayers for you Paul.
Your looking and sounding clear Paul heal brother HEAL ! Roy you look awesome as-well GREAT JOB !
Paul you’re looking better sir! Hang in there.
Thanks Paul and Roy! Gonna wait on the long version
Praying for you Paul. Really good to see you.
Having Paul's voice this day makes me thankful.
As always great presentation of useful information.
