Hello new friends! I am overwhelmed by the response from the stitching community for my first Flosstube. Means a lot to me. I have two important points to make about my "no apologies" segment. ONE: to every Flosstuber who ever put themselves out there, entered the arena, shared their knowledge and passion, I say bravo, and thank you. TWO: Women have, for too many centuries, been conditioned or required to apologize for things, sometimes even their very existence, which are not offenses. So when I see a sister being "sorry" for things that need no apology, I get a little ... worked up. I mean to encourage, set free, liberate, not criticize. Love and best wishes, Heidi.
I hit the subscribed button shortly after starting this flosstube. I love your attitude, your humor, and your projects. I especially like your " no apologies" policy. Everytime I look for fabric at my LNS and mention that I am an Aida stitcher, I am told " that's ok", or "there's nothing wrong with that" like I am apologizing for it. I'm not, I am merely giving them information so they can help me find fabric. Maybe I will actually tell them that, in a nice way, next time. 😊 Happy stitching!
Heidi, thank you from across the pond, what a breath of fresh air you are. My budget is like yours but I am fortunate enough to have inherited Aida and linen from my mother’s stash. She did Hardanger and Pulled Thread as well as spinning and Bobbin Lace. My mother loved Kaffe Fassett and knitted a jumper with her own dyed spun wool. Thank you for a fabulous Flosstube, I hope to enjoy many more. 👏👏👏👏👏
YOU ARE FABULOUS! I’m so glad that Jackie from Comfort Stitching mentioned your channel. I so enjoy your sense of humour and how you just throw things and the everyday life stuff. Oh man I loved it. On to your next video!
Wow. Long dog for your first one. Great job. My first one a few years ago was a full coverage. I’m also down the rabbit hole too. Looking forward to your continuing saga. No need to apologize for anything….
How could I not love a floss tube by someone called Heidi? Especially someone who doesn’t apologise. I’m just a little older than you and if we haven’t learnt by now that what you see is what you get then ,when will we. Bravo Heidi, I’m off to watch #2. I found you from the mention by Jackie of Comfort Stitching. She summed up your approach so well. Thank you best wishes from New Zealand.
Your mockery of what others do in the videos had me laughing all the way through. Your humour was so refreshing. You will set a new standard for the rest of us to be judged by with your attitude and stitching experiments. Please keep it up.😊
Greetings Heidi, love your videos. thank you for sharing. looking forward to many more. I also am a aida stitcher. Recently started 18 count Fiber on a Whim cloth 18 count using 1 strand . The coverage on this fabric is great. Anyway I'm so glad you are on flosstube.
I absolutely love your video! 💜💜 Finally! Someone unapologetic. Don’t change! And the bell to look up is sheer genius. I hope you make lots more videos
I've been sitting on the Fruits of Plenty piece for a couple of years now as I can't pick a colour! Adding your colours to my "possibilities" list 😅 I love the little "bing" you do to let me know to look up from my stitching! 😍
Love love love love love love your flosstube!!! Especially the part about floss tubers apologizing for their WIPs being works in progress. I found your flosstube to be funny, fascinating, and helpful as a new stitcher. Can't wait to see more!

Hello, Heidi! What an absolute pleasure to meet you today! You had me laughing so much about not apologizing for, well, basically EVERYTHING 🤣, that I had to stop the video and tell you how much I was enjoying it! Now, back to watching! 👍🩷 Meline
Hello, again! Congratulations on your first Floss tube! I love you and your projects. I don't do any of the things your not doing. My husband said I should do Floss tube. I said I would not apologize for everything. You are a breath of fresh air! Looking forward to your next video. I am doing Feast of Plenty on 32ct Jobelan 1 over 1 in the called for colors.
Good morning, Heidi, from Westminster, MD. So enjoyed watching your video. So fun. Of course, I’ve added to my wishlist. Lol! Gonna check out Pirate Robin. I subscribed immediately when you got to your list of things you wouldn’t apologize for. 💕💕 you’re the first person I’ve seen on flosstube working on Ragnarok, and I’m SO excited because I’m working on it too!!! It’s amazing to see your progress when I’m still on page 2. Lovely! You are such a joy to watch. Thank you so much for sharing!!
I was skeptical of your bell - but now I realize everyone needs it! I find myself backing up videos to look at something 😂. Thanks for not apologizing, that drives me crazy. Someone else who tried quilling in the day! How about macrame and tatting! I’ve tried it all. Good luck with your Flosstube.
Your video was so much fun. I’m working towards a finish on Death By Cross Stitch and then Long Dog came out with The Fisher King and since I had 22ct fabric and a lovely hank of Missus Sedas silk AND it is my birthday I decided to start it while watching you and saw your wonderful Long Dog so a perfect hour. Can’t wait til your next video
Loved every minute. I have been cross stitching since April and have many projects on the go…learning what I like as I go like you. I am a quilter and I did the same with that at first. I am a very relaxed stitcher so I have developed the Art of Fudging…or as I now call it…my personalisation! I am off to watch your next two flosstubes to get caught up…
Loved your video, you are so funny and a joy to listen to. I was very interested to see all your WIPs and why you chose them. I adore that cow alphabet! Hope to see more of anything from you in the future. Especially loved your no apology segment and your edit to it in the comments, you're too right about women being conditioned to be sorry for anything and everything. Look forward to more content from you in future ^_^
Hi Heidi really enjoyed your video. It was enjoyable listening to you talk about things I grew up with and did. I still have some of the printed quilt blocks that I got back before color tv was a thing😅 since I retired I’ve started working on them😊God bless you and yours 😊
Thank you so much for this wonderful first flosstube. I liked and subscribed almost immediately. I also do needlepoint and cross stitch. And ideed, I also stitch the fruits of plenty in a very similar color scheme (3808 and 413). Please come back regularly. I would like to see your progress.
I’m stitching fruits of plenty in 18 count Aida using Dmc 939 and 3835. I add one or two threads a day. Slow progress but progress. I love stitching it. Enjoyed your flosstube!
I love your flosstube so much! You are so genuine and fun, like a breath of fresh air. Thank you for a lovely visit. I think I'll go back and watch it again, and I hope to see you soon.❤
How delightful your stitching style is! I too love all things stitching and do hand sewing and embroidery, cross stitch, needle point and I am even learning crewel embroidery now! So fun to see all of your thrifted wool! That is how I get most of my wool for stitching is by going to the thrift stores!! So fun. Looking forward to seeing what else you have in store for us!
I love me a good flosstube any day but I'mma be honest it's been a while since I've had so much fun watching one! Thank you for for this! Looking forward to more!
I truly enjoyed your droll sense of humor! Mother was a Speech and English teacher, who insisted her students should "never apologize in their speeches". Keep up the good work!
Love, love, love this! I am a quilter who used to do embroidery and cross stirch. Looks like I'll be returning to hand stitching after viewing your beautiful work (not that I can hope to do anything as terrific as yours). Thank you for your down to earth, funny video!
I almost fell out of my chair when I saw your Ruscilla Geranium pattern. I stitched that very same pattern in 2020 and finished it into a beautiful pillow. Thank you for sharing your beautiful stitchy talents!
Heidi, I want to be your stitch friend! Loved your flosstube. Can’t wait to see your next. And a big thank you for answering my question about doing a needlepoint chart with cross stitch. I recently picked up a glorious book on the freebie table at a retreat titled “The Ehrman Needlepoint Book”. It had glorious needlepoint designs from famous artists/designers. My favorite is “The Owl” stitched by Neil McCallum of a William Morris design. I have this almost kitted to start.
oooh that sounds exciting. I used to have dreams of doing almost ANY Ehrman kit but $$$$. now I'm finding that book on ebay and trying not to buy it LOL. I have Fassett, Russell, Gordon and Glorafilia books already so I sure don't need more, but... Ehrman!
I love that you ufo something when you have learn what you wanted. I feel a need to complete even when I do not enjoy it. I am trying to learn to let go. There have not been many that have shown the Fox and Rabbit 2024 SAL. It has been fun. My colors are random floss leftovers.
To learn to let go... go to your mirror every morning and say "I feel a need to complete even when I do not enjoy it". You will quickly develop a new feeling. LOL and XOXO.
❤ Well aren’t you WONDERFUL! Wish you lived next door. It’s 230am here and spending my first cup of coffee with you was divine. I’ll patiently await our next visit.
Loved your first flosstube! I also refuse to apologize on my videos, and I certainly don't iron. I also learned embroidery/needlework as a child before learning cross stitch. I look forward to watching your progress!
Hi Heidi I had such a wonderful time getting to know you a little bit today. I love how you are trying lots of different things out and learning what you like to stitch. I am looking forward to catching up with you and your progress in your next flosstube. Best wishes
Hello! I have to say you cracked me up! From the no apologies to the tossing your WIPs on the floor. It was a perfect first flosstube. I was talking back to you through the entire thing. I have the first 2 dimensions needlepoint kits and finished the second one. I am now on the hunt for the Bucilla geranium needlepoint. (Don’t know if I should thank you or not). LOL I also love color and reds! I mostly stitch full coverage but like you don’t care for the fantasy. If you ever want to stitch a HAED I would suggest checking out Aimee Stuart. She’s got some really colorful projects. My first HAED finish was by her. I was just telling my husband yesterday I need to be banned from the thrift stores. There are so many fun finds out there and not enough time to do them all. Happy stitching to you and looking forward to seeing you soon. ~ elisa
OMG - I just don’t know what to say. I’ve spent one of the best hours ever watching Flosstube. You made me smile and at the end my eyes were just a little moist after the heartfelt ending to your video. Yes, I did the math to figure out your age because and I just knew we would probably have been in high school together - and I was right. I feel like I’ve made a “virtual” friend and look forward to your next video. Hopefully you decide to put them out on a regular basis. Until then……
It's a good day when I make someone cry a little. 😉 Such kind words, I'm very grateful. Happy to spend some time with you Suzanne. graduated in 1974, best music and blue jeans ever, am I right?
@@StitchingDowntheRabbitHole Class of 1976. Agreed about the music (-now referred to as classic rock) and I wear wide leg jeans, which is the closest I can find to bell bottoms.
Yes…no apologies needed. I am careful in my flosstubes to also not list exactly where stitches have been slightly rearranged. I hope you enjoy presenting as much as I do. Well done. 🦉🌾❤️
Absolutely loved your flosstube, you did an amazing job! Loved your no apology policy, it was awesome! I agree there is too many apologies for things that don’t ever bother me lol. You made me laugh throughout your video, loved your humour! Can’t wait until your next video! ❤
The first needlework I ever did as a youngster was crewel (did not know the difference between embroidery and crewel until you said wool) thank you for giving me understanding in the difference. Granted I never looked into it because I now cross stitch, but was always a puzzle to me. I also live in Michigan (Northern Central). I also grew up doing macrame, needlepoint, crochet and sewing. Needless to say I always butted heads with my mom and I never seemed to finish many projects. My mom taught all the neighbor ladies and all my friends how to sew, knit and crochet but I was a knucklehead in my youth and resisted learning more than the basics. I wish my mom was still with me to teach me all the things I tended to resist. I know when I started to cross stitch my mom never said anything (in her wisdom, I'm sure) but I am sure she was jumping up and down! I did not know she cross stitched also, until she passed away and I was going thru her many things. I now have her cross stitch, needlepoint and my crewel project that I started and she finished hanging on my walls ( my most prized possessions!) Hind sight is 20/20
A great first ft, welcome to the very deep rabbit hole that we stitchers live in! I have that Kaffe Fassett book, but had not noticed the jars. Yours will be beautiful on that blue fabric.
Love this video! Love the no apologies. I never understood them. As stitchers we all see wrinkles and threads hanging. And I listen through my hearing aids, and the zippers never bother me. Lol. I understand that some people have sensory issues, I do. But I love the no apologies policy. We apologize for enough things in our life, we shouldn't have to apologize for our hobbies.
Great start! Very encouraging, especially what you said about some stitching being like a studio practice. I was feeling a bit guilty for abandoning a couple experiments but have a good prospective now. And ha.... It was buying a William Morris cross stitch pattern in May 2023 that got me back into cross stitch after a 30ish year break. (Wild Tulips to match my fave tea cup). Btw I put that project aside for over a year after almost finishing about one ninth of it but deciding full coverage not for me. But I learned So Much and fell into the floss tube and cross stitch world through it. And a couple months ago I finished just the one ninth section and framed it.... And I am... Also Thrifty and have found stuff at second hand shops; also I have yet to buy a project bag because my former world traveling engineer hubby gave me dozens of American Airlines amenities bags which used to be bigger and nicer! They have served well Looking forward to more
I’m only five minutes in and I love it! I love your floss though I really like you! I subscribed already and now I will watch the rest of your floss tube!❤❤❤ love the needlepoint! I had done that decades ago..gave away my finishes…nuts!.. And you have a cabin up North Wisconsin! I'm so jealous. We've been married 50 years and for 50 years I've been asking to rent a cabin up North Wisconsin for a week or 2.... But now the prices are ridiculous! I'm originally from the Milwaukee area.
Going Up North is very relaxing... provided my husband does all the wood chopping, generator fueling and water pumping. LOL. I sit by the window and stitch. Does the guy like to fish? You might be able to persuade him if you take that angle. Get it? angle? angler? oh dear.
I have been searching for needlepoint flosstubes as well. Hopefully in the future I will join you by recording a flosstube of my own that will include cross stitch, needlepoint, knitting and quilting. Your projects are beautiful! Make them out of pillows so that you can enjoy the fruit of your labor. Take care!!!
Great FT video!! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I am amazed at your choice for your first cross stitch, from Long Dog.. beautiful ! All your stitching is fabulous❤❤
Wow lol You are so hilarious! I can see you could be a comedian if you don't like selling on EBAY! I don't think I have ever laughed so much in a while. My spouse was wondering what I was doing in my craft room laughing so hard. My favorite line is " don't buy it, don't buy it and then I bought it!!!" Can't wait for your next floss tube! Zip! Zip!
Hello from Cleveland area along the Lake Erie. Love your first video! You are a natural and quite funny. You made me laugh so many times. My favorite are the “dings” as I am usually doing something with flosstubes on. (I actually like zipper sounds…weird I know) Fairly new retiree with a retired hubby also… who also loves to drive. Your projects are great. A fellow crocheter…..My mom taught me back in the 60’s. Thanks for the tip on needlepoint. I have one I struggle to stitch as it’s not well marked…. Did not know Bucilla was better marked. Looking forward to your next video….
Hello in Cleveland! love Cleveland, so many great neighborhoods and food. Thank you bunches for visiting my channel. What I decided about the "vague" needlepoint charts is to just go ahead and use artistic license. rather than stare at an intersection willing it to become clear, I pull back a bit and say what color does it NEED to be. Organic things are always open to flexibility... geometric things usually tell you what color to keep the correct shape. Make sense? best wishes and thanks again.
Hello from a fellow Michigan stitcher! It sounds like may both be in relatively the same area of MI as I'm only around an hour from GR. Love your video and your personality. I completely agree with not apologizing, there is on right or wrong way to stitch or craft as long as you're enjoying it! I fear you've sent me down a rabbit hole with the Antique Pattern Library site. What a fun resource. I've already saved Repeating Floral and a few other PDF's from the site. Looking forward to your future videos!
Thoroughly enjoyed your video! I’m another primarily DMC and Aida, and unapologetic for how I do things, kind of stitcher. I also stitch what I want and when I want, switching things up as I feel like it. This is supposed to be fun and relaxing, after all. So keep the videos coming, you’re doing great! Welcome from your neighbor in Indiana.
I LOVE your unapologies! I was laughing out loud one minute in! I too am a new flosstuber and i completely understand how daunting it is, let alone incorporating all the rules. lol. While i agree with you wholeheartedly and touched on the same, i certainly did not explain myself in the hilarious but eloquent manner in which you did! I’m typing this comment before you showed one project!
Hi Heidi from Michigan. I'm Kathy from Ohio - also retired, also a few miles from a Great Lake (Erie), also don't care to plan my projects, also LOVE that you didn't apologize for one thing and also kind of a newer cross stitcher. My mom cross stitched all the time but it didn't catch my attention. Too busy working, raising a daughter, etc. But I learned that stitching off an iPad was a game changer a few years ago. And I'm learning that my tastes are changing the more I stitch. At first it was all smalls. Then I got tired of finishing smalls and now do lots of bigger projects just so I don't have to finish things as often. Loved seeing what you're working on and your sense of humor. So funny! See ya next time.
My trouble with smalls is... what would I DO with them. LOL. I have a few pieces on the Ipad, and it certainly can be useful. Still love a highlighter and paper tho, I'm so.... old.... school. haha.
Hi! I happened to find your first floss tube and knew IMMEDIATELY that the Rabbit Hole (Down, Up, Diagonal, or Doing the Foxtrot) is a GOOD place to be!!!! When you held up one of Marilyn Leavitt-Imblum's patterns, I was absolutely SURE it'a good place to be...When, as an adult, I returned to stitching, I accidentally stumbled across Marilyn's patterns, most specifically Lavender and Lace, but I have patterns from Told in a Garden and Butternut Road (her third .line of patterns) as well. And, for quite a long time, those were the only patterns I worked on. I collected her patterns from all three lines and still have them. Marilyn passed away a number of years ago, but her patterns will be in print for the foreseeable future, per her wishes. Also, Marilyn's daughter is Nora Corbett. She has two lines, Mirabilia and Nora Corbett. They are both beeyootiful.!!!!

Whoo hooo! Finally someone who talks to us and doesn’t apologize for doing your life like you want to…so refreshing. Looking forward to your videos. ❤
Wonderful first video. I agree with your no apology list. 😉
Welcome to your 1st flosstube. It was a joy to watch. Lovely projects. I love your tone so I can look up and see what you are showing.

I love the little "bing" you do to let me know to look up from my stitching! 😍
Love watching you! I too had the pillowcases, fingertip towels, and a few doilies when I was small. Still have some for a keepsake.
Someone I watch gave you a shout out (don’t remember who) so here I am. Thanks for keeping me company while I stitched. I’ll watch the next one now.
Great video! Look forward to more!

great story... it is a different kind of romance that way, isn't it? Plus now, we can't imagine any other life, any other person,...❤️
I love your tree skirt, I’m also fairly newly back to needlework. I learned as a kid in the 70’s. I did make my kids stockings in the 2000’s.
My kids stockings are felt and sequins and embroidery LOL.
Heidi, I loved your first video, and thoroughly enjoy your sense of humor. Looking forward to seeing your follow-up videos. :-D
Love your flosstube!
Omg. This is Saturday Night Live of Floss Tube! I thoroughly enjoyed your video.

Hello. Thank you for not apologizing for all that stuff. It’s so silly. I love DMC.
I am setting the stitchers free LOL. thanks so much for watching.
I'm only 4 minutes in, and I already love you! Yes, no more apologizing! For me, I hate the apologizing for the zipper noises most of all.
@@MsSiamar And the crinkling!! 🤣🤣
Loved every minute. I have been cross stitching since April and have many projects on the go…learning what I like as I go like you. I am a quilter and I did the same with that at first. I am a very relaxed stitcher so I have developed the Art of Fudging…or as I now call it…my personalisation! I am off to watch your next two flosstubes to get caught up…
that's a great term, I call my mistake adaptations "artistic license" LOL
Oh I’m picking up rebel vibes and I’m here for it! Can’t wait to see your projects! 🪡🧵☮️❤️
Fun video! I'm in the Across the pond FB group and am doing the SAL, too. Not sure if I'll be keeping up but I'm not worried!
I'm so happy you're enjoying my videos, thank you for watching!
I would like to see your progress.
getting out my DMC color chart......checking numbers..... very nice!
Heidi, I am happy to have met you. Your style is very sweet and fun! I'm in! I look forward to watching more.
Thanks so much 😊
I’m stitching fruits of plenty in 18 count Aida using Dmc 939 and 3835. I add one or two threads a day. Slow progress but progress. I love stitching it. Enjoyed your flosstube!
Oooo I bet that's a pretty combo!
You have kept me in stitches! Looking forward to your next video!
This is the best and most honest flosstube I have ever watched! Please post more!❤
I love your flosstube so much! You are so genuine and fun, like a breath of fresh air. Thank you for a lovely visit. I think I'll go back and watch it again, and I hope to see you soon.❤
You're so kind! Only three views per customer🤣
Glad you enjoyed it!
I truly enjoyed your droll sense of humor! Mother was a Speech and English teacher, who insisted her students should "never apologize in their speeches". Keep up the good work!
Thoroughly enjoyed your flosstube Heidi and I look forward to your next one.
Love, love, love this! I am a quilter who used to do embroidery and cross stirch. Looks like I'll be returning to hand stitching after viewing your beautiful work (not that I can hope to do anything as terrific as yours). Thank you for your down to earth, funny video!
Oh gosh, my projects may be interesting but my work is pretty much good enough LOL.
Those gusts from the lake certainly blew in a breath of fresh air with you. Adore your quirky, laid-back and humorous style. Stitch on sister! ♥️🪡🧵
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi Heidi I had such a wonderful time getting to know you a little bit today. I love how you are trying lots of different things out and learning what you like to stitch. I am looking forward to catching up with you and your progress in your next flosstube. Best wishes
What a wonderful video! You are so funny. Really enjoyed watching you.
Great video! I love your attitude. Can’t wait to see more. Happy stitching.
LOL
I also love color and reds!
1978 grad here. We are all kindred stitchers. 70's music? The BEST
Yes…no apologies needed. I am careful in my flosstubes to also not list exactly where stitches have been slightly rearranged. I hope you enjoy presenting as much as I do. Well done. 🦉🌾❤️
Thanks for stopping by! I'm checking out your channel this morning. xoxo
Absolutely Fabulous
What a breath of fresh air
Love your no bs approach ❤❤❤
I now have her cross stitch, needlepoint and my crewel project that I started and she finished hanging on my walls ( my most prized possessions!) Hind sight is 20/20
what a treasure you still have that project. She was probably just proud you followed her example, even if you had to do it independently. xoxo.
Oh my gosh you are SO fun to watch!!!! Looking forward to more from you! Thanks SO much for sharing your love of needle work!! ♥️
Thank you for watching, and leaving such a kind comment. Hope to see you again!
They have served well
Looking forward to more
Hi ftom England, I loved your floss tube. You are a very witty lady, looking forward to the next video ❤
Wow, thank you! I love your country! only visited once, but so enjoyed it.
I love you
Great attitude. Great sense of humor. Beautiful talent. You're approx my age, and you've inspired me and made me giggle!
Get it? angle? angler? oh dear.
So much fun … also NOT sorry for all the things. 🎉🪡🖼️
Hi. I like DMC 115 a variegated red. I enjoyed my time with you today😊
@@eatplants.and.crossstitch thank you for stopping by! I will have a look at that one. Xoxo
Yes , do that Darlene! we want to see! xoxo
Zip! Zip!
😬 I always thought a good career would be the competitive BBQ circuit, but that sounds more fun LOL. I so appreciate you watching. xoxo
@@StitchingDowntheRabbitHolegood advice… thank you
Hello from a fellow Michigan stitcher!
Sorry not sorry about the Antique Pattern Library. Amazing stuff, and it's FREE! I'm just north of Grand Haven, about 4 miles from Hoffmaster SP.
I am so happy to have found you on FlossTube. You are amazing and I look forward to watching your channel. Thank you for sharing! ❤
You have a really nice channel. Im here for the long haul too🌺🌸🌺❤️
I LOVE your unapologies!
So cool, I just found your channel a few weeks ago! Your projects are great, and I love to hear you say butter.😘😉
They are both beeyootiful.!!!!
what a talented family, right? so many devoted followers. Thanks for watching Gayle!
Hi Heidi. I'm a fellow Michigander from Grand Rapids. I really enjoyed your flosstube and look forward to the next one. 🪡🧵
