Actually it's more like I'm Olympic champion (Gold medalist)...instead of king. The translator might use a bit wrong word to express because in Japanese the word he used can be interpreted several ways but in sport context it normally means champion or medalist (but of cause we still so proud of him anyway :D )
I saw some overseas fans were worried about his mental after the men’s competition, but as a Japanese who listened to this conference, I thought he was very placid, thoughtful and down to earth. He first congratulated Nathan, a new champion, he made sure the ice rink in Beijing was well maintained, he thanked everyone, his staff, audience there, ppl who watched him via broadcast, OG volunteers, worldwide fans etc. He was basically happy w what he did in his performance. As a Chinese fan, I was worried our ice might be criticized after what happened in his SP. So when he said our ice was perfect and he was just unlucky, it really makes me want to cry. Even in his bad days, He is still so considerate, so nice to others. 😭😭
Yuzuru's performance and interpretation of figure skating are completely beyond what can be measured by the ISU scoring system. From how he still insisted on challenging a 4A and not dilute down on the artistry and footwork despite them not being advantages to his scores, he isn't constrained by the boundaries of the scoring system anymore and isn't even on the same playing field as the rest. there's this line Yuzu said from this conference that struck me most, that we should also congratulate ourselves because we are also taking challenges daily and that we deserve to recognize our efforts. This just shows how kind and empathic Yuzuru Hanyu is, and just made me admire him more. Deep respect to Yuzu, the champion of our hearts. May he rest well, and heal his injury completely so he could skate more and show his passion. His skating indeed touched so many lives for more than a decade and I'm honored to have this privilege witnessing this phenomenon.
Yuzuru Hanyu is very humble and respectful person! He acknowledges and thankful everybody whether they’re in a higher position or not he always saying thank you not a lot of people is like that!!!
The more I learn about Yuzuru Hanyu, the more I think he's an amazing and admirable person both on and off the ice. His beautiful skating is what draws you in initially. However, his story, character, and attributes turn you into a fan far longer than you would think. Your love for him will grow beyond a single Olympic games. His 2 consecutive gold medals brought him fame and recognition, but it's his dreams, determination, and desire to challenge the limits of the sport that are even more respectable. Despite all the achievements, he is humble, respectful, and always gives credit to others. He's thankful to everyone who's helped him along the way. I've read many posts where he's impacted many people in so many ways totally unrelated to figure skating, such as how his skating or determination has helped them overcome stressful times or better cope with mental health issues. I love how he said that Nathan chen deserved the gold medal. He probably noticed all the hate nathan was getting for winning against him and tried to calm his fans down. There is nobody else living that loves figure skating as much as Yuzuru Hanyu. He is an artist, he is a technician - he is the most complete athlete. He IS figure skating. Following skating beyond the Olys is frustrating because the ISU desperately needs reform, but even through the frustration at blatant corruption, the fans of the sport will never forget how watching Yuzuru's performances makes us feel. He has perseverance that every person who has ever faced hardship strives for, and self-expression through skating as his medium that many artists in other disciplines can admire. He has built a beautiful legacy and I hope he recovers soon! I would love to see his Rondo Capriccioso and Ten To Chi programs again, and without the pressure and potential injuries with 4A.

You can really sense how passionate he is about figure skating. He is so polite and respectful in answering questions especially the last one. His ankle and ligaments have not recovered yet and because he didn’t performed in the short program to his standard he was trying for the 4A over and over before the final attempt, most likely weakening the ankle by over using it. So it’s not surprising he got injured again but I hope he will take the time to rest so we can see him returning to the next Winter Olympics. He really shouldn’t be practising already.

His skating is a kind of art on ice, inspiring human being, and encouring us. Sometimes athlets can be injured and fell, but this is not end. I watched Yuzuru's figure skating over and over again, almost everything at RUclips. And his skating really inspired me a lot and gave me lots of exciting and joyful moments. I believe Yuzuru is true champion and extremley talented figure skater that human history ever has. I pray Yuzuru totally recover from this injury physically as well as emotionally and fly again. I like how some of these questions are so thoughtful. Yuzuru's answers say how much he loves skating, the ice, the competition, the fans, his supporters, his country and countrymen. This guy is grateful to everyone and in turn the world cannot help but love him and respect him for every emotions he exudes and his genuineness and his honesty. I'm pretty sure that he's loved because of his artistry but also how he is as a human, as a sportsperson.

This is the first press conference of anyone that I have ever watched. And I watched all of it... For me, Hanyu's falling on ice after his attempt of quad axel is the single most heroic moment of the entire Olympic history. I guess there is a reason why the Olympic motto is "Citius Altius Fortius" instead of "Gold Silver Bronze". You certainly have already inspired me to push to my limits. Just entered this fandom after watching his performance during this Olympic not just because he skates so beautifully and is so determined to achieve his dreams like many other skaters I believe also worked hard (I’m learning the determination and perseverance from Yuzuru when I felt like giving up) but his humbleness, respect for each and everyone he met from the athletes to the media to the translator has gone beyond being a skater I’m super grateful to know him now and I hope it’s not too late to scroll true all his videos and interviews haha
I'm late and just found out that's he's not a champion this time, but truthfully it doesn't really bother me, he achieved more than this for years that I won't even have to doubt his skill on ice. I focused more on his performance as his performance always soothed my heart in hard times, no other skaters could do this.

The translator might use a bit wrong word to express because in Japanese the word he used can be interpreted several ways but in sport context it normally means champion or medalist (but of cause we still so proud of him anyway :D )
He didn't actually say 'king', he is too humble for that, he actually said something about being 2x Olympic champion and how he is proud of it

I saw some overseas fans were worried about his mental after the men’s competition, but as a Japanese who listened to this conference, I thought he was very placid, thoughtful and down to earth.
He first congratulated Nathan, a new champion, he made sure the ice rink in Beijing was well maintained, he thanked everyone, his staff, audience there, ppl who watched him via broadcast, OG volunteers, worldwide fans etc. He was basically happy w what he did in his performance.

Yuzuru is way too intelligent. He is a true competitor/challenger. He understands the importance of the Olympic Games and that these games are meant to be won and with a gold medal. I’m happy he spoke up first in the beginning to congratulate Nathan and even mentioning he knows the hard work to achieve it as the Olympics only come every 4yrs. Yuzuru's performance and interpretation of figure skating are completely beyond what can be measured by the ISU scoring system. From how he still insisted on challenging a 4A and not dilute down on the artistry and footwork despite them not being advantages to his scores, he isn't constrained by the boundaries of the scoring system anymore and isn't even on the same playing field as the rest. there's this line Yuzu said from this conference that struck me most, that we should also congratulate ourselves because we are also taking challenges daily and that we deserve to recognize our efforts. This just shows how kind and empathic Yuzuru Hanyu is, and just made me admire him more.

I will never forget 2011 when i was sitting to watch skating and saw him in his first ever performances in the adults competition, my first thought was "oh he is going to be BIG just wait till the world gets to know him"

There is nobody else living that loves figure skating as much as Yuzuru Hanyu. He is an artist, he is a technician - he is the most complete athlete. He IS figure skating. Following skating beyond the Olys is frustrating because the ISU desperately needs reform, but even through the frustration at blatant corruption, the fans of the sport will never forget how watching Yuzuru's performances makes us feel. He has perseverance that every person who has ever faced hardship strives for, and self-expression through skating as his medium that many artists in other disciplines can admire. He has built a beautiful legacy and I hope he recovers soon! I would love to see his Rondo Capriccioso and Ten To Chi programs again, and without the pressure and potential injuries with 4A.

You can really sense how passionate he is about figure skating. He is so polite and respectful in answering questions especially the last one. Hanyu Yuzuru's interviews are always so interesting. Besides being humble, gracious, and courteous, he always provides such thoughtful and sincere answers to all questions. Agreed. His ankle and ligaments have not recovered yet and because he didn’t performed in the short program to his standard he was trying for the 4A over and over before the final attempt, most likely weakening the ankle by over using it. So it’s not surprising he got injured again but I hope he will take the time to rest so we can see him returning to the next Winter Olympics. He really shouldn’t be practising already.

Personally, I like how he started off by first congratulating Nathan Chen for his Olympic gold and addressing the weibo rumours of bad ice quality/ thanking the staff before continuing on with the rest of the interview. I watched Yuzuru's figure skating over and over again, almost everything at RUclips. And his skating really inspired me a lot and gave me lots of exciting and joyful moments. I like how some of these questions are so thoughtful. Yuzuru's answers say how much he loves skating, the ice, the competition, the fans, his supporters, his country and countrymen. This guy is grateful to everyone and in turn the world cannot help but love him and respect him for every emotions he exudes and his genuineness and his honesty. I'm pretty sure that he's loved because of his artistry but also how he is as a human, as a sportsperson.

For me, Hanyu's falling on ice after his attempt of quad axel is the single most heroic moment of the entire Olympic history. I guess there is a reason why the Olympic motto is "Citius Altius Fortius" instead of "Gold Silver Bronze". You certainly have already inspired me to push to my limits. Just entered this fandom after watching his performance during this Olympic not just because he skates so beautifully and is so determined to achieve his dreams like many other skaters I believe also worked hard (I’m learning the determination and perseverance from Yuzuru when I felt like giving up) but his humbleness, respect for each and everyone he met from the athletes to the media to the translator has gone beyond being a skater

I'm late and just found out that's he's not a champion this time, but truthfully it doesn't really bother me, he achieved more than this for years that I won't even have to doubt his skill on ice. I focused more on his performance as his performance always soothed my heart in hard times, no other skaters could do this.
So classy, well spoken, wise, so intelligent, he's brilliant, has both IQ and emotional intelligence he reflects brilliantly, I'm very lucky to be your fan, miracle boy
I like his interpretation on the press asking him about he is no longer Olympics Champion now. He said he is out of the burden of the 3rd consecutive champion and he can be proud of himself as 2x Olympics Champions. Yes, he can certainly be proud of. And he also accepted his defeat and congratulated Nathan as he knew how much effort he has put in to win this Olympics.
He's a superhuman, a true Olympian. I was plesantly surprised and deeply inspired to hear Yuzuru encouraging the audience with profound sincerity. I love that not only the 4A, but he did actually wanted to achieve gold in this Olympics and fought for it. As a fan, I did too wish Yuzuru to be the three-time gold medalist. However I respect Yuzuru more after this Olympic game performance even that did not bring him to the medal this time. It turned out to be more than a gold medal to the fans, living forever in everyone's memory as a living legend that he is. I genuinely love his skating in this olympic! Only Yuzuru can skate like that. Also Yuzuru was considerate about the gold winner Nathan, which was a class act, actually not really easy thing to do. So much respect and support for Yuzu! 🙏

Yuzuru Hanyu is an incredible human being, that lives and breathes for skating. He always went far and beyond to revolutionize and evolve in this sport.
I don’t expect him to retire as some might think, and I would definitely not exclude seeing him in the next Olympic and even win a medal!

To skate so beautifully while being so baldy injured, yet still landing on 4th position while trying to make history by jumping a 4A, it takes a lot of work, effort and character. There aren’t many who can do that! You have a strong power of will!
