This enormous risk alone deserves a 10.00 in transitions if successful. Let alone the ridiculous total of only 6 crossovers.
The current scoring system unfortunately does not reflect the true difficulty of Yuzu's programs. Other skaters may be able to jump more quads than him, but they are still a long way from equaling his mastery in all the other components of the sport.
In World's 2022, a skater (I think was Vincent Zhou? Or Yuma, not 100% sure) attempted an Ina Bauer-triple axel combo just like how Yuzu does it.... and failed. I know quite a few people tend to watch/rewatch his short program Rondo from japanese nationals over his Beijing one only due to the fact they know about the hole in the ice at the olympics and it's kind of traumatizing to know what lies ahead when you start playing the video. Nonetheless, he was immaculate from start to finish. The complexity of his program and the mental strength to nail it under these circumstances are second to none.
I know that many people and Yuzu himself consider his 4th place as a failure (after 2 gold medals it is understandable) but if you think about it realistically, he proved that he is still incredibly strong. It was his first international competition this season, and he was training alone and with injury and 4A attempt which took a lot of his strength, he still performed incredibly, landed perfect quads and was 3d in FS and 4th overall ( with being unlucky during short). That 3A landed with one arm was super cool. I bet there were just a few people noticed it. Yuzu knew there won’t any credits for this difficult attempt(it’s really hard to balance without the other arm when you land ) and yet he still did it because it’s beautiful. That’s what makes yuzuru’s skating yuzuru.
There's no one like him. He is what figure skating should be - artistry based on technical mastery. There is no one else who is capable to combine high dufficulty jumps with intricate footwork and excellent spins - and musicality. Yuzuru really is unparalleled in just every aspect of figure skating, one of a kind. There is no one, no other single skater can skate this mesmerizing program...just the step sequence will drive them crazy. Actually I think there is no one today can even skate Yuzuru's Romeo & Juliet at 2012 WC. Every time you watch his performance you can just refresh your understanding of the commentary to Yuzuru: "There are figure skaters, and then there's Yuzuru Hanyu."
@Minni i’m not insulting… it’s a fact that he got 4th place and missed the podium. Insulting means saying yuzuru is bad and the worst skater ever and I didn’t say that.
The difficulty of this program shows why nobody can reach Yuzuru's level yet. He has delivered clean short program at Nationals and shows he is capable of doing so. Sadly the salchow didn't go well this time, but the performance as a complete package program was mesmerizing. He is the skater that shows the potential of figures skating as an art based on technical power.
I showed this clip to my friend who didn't know FS at all. She said this performance was seamless. She didn't even notice about pop 4S because it is sillouette to all his movement in the program. 😍
Michelangelo on skates. He touches your soul with his spirit. When you watch him skate time stops for those few minutes. He is not just a skater he is a performer a true master No one comes even close to him, he is one in a century talent.
Yuzuru's Rondo Capriccioso is amazing... Just rewatching it you can see how seamlessly he transitions between elements and there's practically no setup for the jumps, which allows you to focus on the whole program. Everything about his figure skating performance is immaculate
The Olympics will never more see anyone stunning as Yuzuru Hanyu. Rondo is a masterpiece that any other can't skate. The FS world and history must lie at his feet forever.
Lol that a little much. I found him to be stuck up over confident. He was not going to beat nathan chen. He was performing the same routines and wasn't growing.
If the Olympic spirit is not about competition, but "the power of sport" which moves the hearts of people, Yuzuru is truly the champion. Nobody else can "inspire" as he does.
Time will tell who the real legend is, and we didn’t need much time to pass to see the truth shinning as brightly as it always was. Yuzuru greatest of all time forever and always 👑🐐❤️
I didn't care about the scores, I just thought the program was absolutely beautiful, the music was flowing through his moves, touching the hearts and souls until I forgot how to breathe. Then I realised how technically difficult and packed it was: the steps, the transitions, the edges, little details, like his folded arm when landing after triple Axel. He is impossible, he is out of this world. I hope to see this program once again in a competition, properly scored. I am sure we haven't seen it all yet.
To think he got a lot of pressure for being a 2-time OGM and he popped that crucial first 4S, but prevented it from ruining the rest of his program… The mental fortitude he has is crazy. Truly a brilliant skater. ✨✨✨
Although he missed the podium, Yuzuru will always be remembered since he gave us art and not just random jumps. His Seimei performance will go down in history.
I hope he knows he's such a wonderful person and he truly deserves the world. Life is full of uncertainties, but no matter whether he is having his ups or his downs, I am always proud of him. I'm grateful he exists.
For Yuzuru, this Olympic was an unforgettable event. Because he had won the Olympic gold two times in a row, people considers him to be perfect. They thought of him to be the best ever. But performing in Beijing told them that he is a human who also makes mistakes and whose hard work can also be in vain. It told them that he is not a perfect human. Even he said that Yuzuru from 2018 Winter Olympics was different from this Yuzuru. But for me, this Yuzuru who performed his best and chase for his 4A dream is better. No matter how much the rule changes, his artistry and passion never changes. He continues to skate like other skaters can't never do. His worth can never be measured through a medal.

Once again, I feel like there's no such thing as figure skaters like you.
But people know, so I hope you cheer up.
That 3A landed with one arm was super cool. I bet there were just a few people noticed it. Yuzu knew there won’t any credits for this difficult attempt(it’s really hard to balance without the other arm when you land ) and yet he still did it because it’s beautiful. That’s what makes yuzuru’s skating yuzuru.
what second?

His skating has a power that heals. Yuzuru, you are one of a kind skater, you can never be replaced.
“A genius. Hanyu Yuzuru is a genius, 2x olympic gold medallist”
He was he is and he will be the greatest athlete of all time. His achievements are much more then a gold medal.
Already cemented himself as a legend and still has the motivation to skate on the Top Level. Really only the Greatest Male Figure Skater Of All Time.
yo i found you again
There's no one like him. He is what figure skating should be - artistry based on technical mastery. There is no one else who is capable to combine high dufficulty jumps with intricate footwork and excellent spins - and musicality. Well, it seems that ISU actually doesn't care about quality, but it's impossible not to see that Yuzuru IS the ultimate quality on ice.
This, in spades. Thank you for wording it so well!
"artistry based on technical mastery" you summarised figure skating and what yuzu does so perfectly. wow
Sorry have u seen Nathan Chen?
@@ethanroderick9719 High difficulty jumps for sure, but intricate footwork and transitions? Not so much. He's not a bad skater at all, he just doesn't excel in that particular field.
@@turtlefeesh yea i know yuzu’s footwork and transitions are better but figure skating is a sports afterall so high technical difficulty jumps is more important than transitions to be at the top.
I was looking at all those empty chairs... most depressing and lifeless Olympics ever.
Yuzu was the only ray of light and hope at that venue.
That Olympics was a total failure at all levels. Shame on you know who…
He's the brightest star of figure skating world, he's one of a kind
Can someone tell him how great he is? This is the true artistry of figure skating. No one will ever be the same level with Hanyu, he's living in his own world.
Yuzu, your presence is a gold medal.
I’d nearly forgotten there are also women’s skating competitions, I’ve been so wrapped up in Yuzuru Hanyu for so long.
so much mental strength was needed to finish this program after the unfortunate pop and he truly did it 🥺 such a goated program, he's the best of all time 🫂
His spirit just touches my heart. A real legend. No one like him.
Just want to say, there will be never anyone like Yuzuru Hanyu anymore. He's forever the GOAT of FS.
This is how figure skating should look like. Yuzuru Hanyu is the soul of this sport. The G.O.A.T 👏🏻
The program with full of step sq. and difficult transitions in and out, no long boring cross over before jump. So shame that the score can't reflect his greatness enough.
The fact that he is so underscored makes me sad. This was an amazing performance and he was elegant.
He was over scored lol with the missed jump and mistepped landing of his triple axel. It’s crazy even if Hanyu skates cleanly, Nathan Chen would still be the leader after the short
@@Jacobeeez Yikes, your comment history on this channel is full of bad takes on Yuzu's videos, troll alert. If you hate him get a hobby and don't camp under his videos to write lies. His axel was perfect. He missed the salchow but everything afterwards was flawless. His quad toe triple toe combination was practically the best 4T+3T ever jumped in history, deserving of straight +5 GOE yet a judge gave it 3/5. He was so underscored that even if he landed 4S perfectly and got +4/5 GOE, his score would've been around 108, which is several points below what his clean short programs normally get and deserve. If you want to talk about Nathan go to his video, his empty jumpfest wouldn't have broken 101 if it weren't for USA overscoring, you're not welcome here.
@@starlightsall lol wow are you saying you are better than the professional judges? A bias Hanyu fan? 😂
@@Jacobeeez Suuuuure, because the judges are pros who are so trustworthy, honest, knowledgeable and totally not corrupt. You know those judges score Shcherbakova's "4Lz" as high as your beloved Chen's? lol. Nicely failed argument buddy.
Yuzuru's performance is perfect as always.
The legend of figure skating, that's what he is!
Everyone does have a bad day but not everyone's bad day is a masterpiece.
can't get over how perfect that 4T+3T was
Moreover, the Rippon variation with the 3T was a novelty, different from the one we saw from JNats 2021. I like how even though he repeats his programs a lot, he always adds subtle, innovative modifications like this one to enhance the interpretation of each new rendition.
Every time you watch his performance you can just refresh your understanding of the commentary to Yuzuru: "There are figure skaters, and then there's Yuzuru Hanyu."
completely agree
It feels like he’s conducting an orchestra, as if the music is following him not him following the music. It’s amazing
And as if he’s skating in the clouds, not frozen water.

The number of views of his videos tell a lot about his performances. He captivated the audience hearts, not the judges. Yuzuru Hanyu the GOAT you are.

i hope he knows that people will also remember the yuzuru hanyu from the olympics 2022 in beijing
When you are feeling down and the world is against you, remember you live in same time with Yuzuru Hanyu, who fought against all odds
Yuzuru's Rondo Capriccioso is amazing... Just rewatching it you can see how seamlessly he transitions between elements and there's practically no setup for the jumps, which allows you to focus on the whole program. Everything about his figure skating performance is immaculate
Truly the greatest of all time. Being at the competitive field in 18 years and still at the top
So unfortunate that he came across the ice hole in the first jump😞. The elegance and beauty of Yuzu’s skating is far above his competitors. GOAT.
we are truly so lucky to be able to witness him perform, he is art. forever will be the king of figure skating
To those who were wondering why Yuzuru didn't spin and jump instead, there was a huge hole that messed up his spin.

His face at the end of the performance makes me so sad, it's obvious this Olympics was extra hard on him. Hopefully he knows he's the GOAT ❤
Yuzuru greatest of all time forever and always 👑🐐❤️

omg this program is way too beautiful
Thật sự! Quá đỗi đẹp bà cuốn hút!
I have no words to describe how great you are, Yuzuru Hanyu.
To think he got a lot of pressure for being a 2-time OGM and he popped that crucial first 4S, but prevented it from ruining the rest of his program… The mental fortitude he has is crazy. Truly a brilliant skater. ✨✨✨
He got a lot of pressure for being a 3-time OGM. 2-time OMG he was already being. 😊
*Art on Ice.* There will never be another one like him. A living legend✨
Magical 3A. He exited it with one extended arm only!!!! this is a change for Olympic, not a move he did at JPNs
Didn’t notice that.
But The GOE didn’t get affected by it….Which is so sad….
@@sho0508 I think the judges didnt even know how to score as they never seen that before..

I totally agree 👍🏻 Love this comment so much ❤️ ❤️
Lol if you’re talking about the greatest male skater of all time, it’s Alexie Yagudin.
