He wasn't the 1st to land an underrotated 4A (on two feet). But he didn't want to give up because he can't bear the medias not being around him, and most of all, knows he can't win anymore. People should stop worshiping him like a cult leader.

@@alena9012 He wasn't the FIRST TO ATTEMPT a 4A in an international competition. Yes. But those attempted jumps were downgraded and thus receive the base value of 3A. And Yuzu almost fully rotates it and receives the base value of 4A. So, his attempted 4A is the FIRST TO BE CERTIFIED (or recognized). And how did you know that his main reason for not giving up the 4A is that he needs attention from the media? I think that it is another way around. The media needs him. Don't you think he will receive all the attention when he won his 3rd gold medal? Every site and channel uses him as a thumbnail instead of those who get the gold medal because they want to gain clicks. He even doesn't have a social media account. It's not our problem that your favorite skater received little or maybe no attention from the media or the people. Remember that greatness can never be bought not even by a gold medal.

He is absolute poetry in motion.. as a ballet teacher and coach for many years, I can tell you that his movements transcend merely technique. As he has his passion and love for his art form of skating. I loved at the beginning of the dance, you see him become the persona he is conveying through Dance. I also have great respect for him having overcome many challenges in terms of injury etc.. to still achieve his status. I can relate to it having gone through a car accident as a former ballet Dancer, but then fell in love with teaching Dance thereafter.
In Balinese Dance, which I have also studied, there is a term for a dancer called “tsaksu”, which means the charisma of the performer. It’s often an intangible thing, but an audience can spot it 1000 miles away. It’s what made such greats as Anna Pavlova, Plisetskaya, Fonteyn, Nureyev, Baryshnikov exceptional, beyond their flawless technique. This amazing skater has all of this and more and will go down in ice skating history as one of the finest. Aside from this, the choreography, the music and his exquisite costume all added to the ambience.

Historical performance. Yuzuru Hanyu told a powerful story here: of battles fought, of risks taken, of human spirit prevailing at the end. Atrocious PCS and measly GOEs can't take away the beauty of this impressive and beautiful performance that goes down into the history of figure skating, into which Yuzuru has written down his name in golden letters once more. This type of strength of character and inner strength combined with his relentless drive to compete with himself (because he had surpassed everyone else) for a greater level of skating proficiency and excellence and his powerful, yet sweet personality are what make him a legend. Yuzuru is the king of endlessly pushing himself to break boundaries. His efforts towards achieving the first certified 4A in Olympic history were palpable. He even fell and got back up gracefully too. He didn’t come to win gold again - he came to face his personal goal. Following the events, you could see that the weight had been lifted off of his shoulders as he was in such a bright mood at the gala despite being on painkillers throughout the Olympics.
Each time Yuzuru skates, you can truly feel his sincerity and passion for the sport. As he’s said himself, “I bet my life to skate.” He is a once in a lifetime talent, the prince of the ice, “the most complete athlete in figure skating, probably ever,” the GOAT! His artistry is out of this world, and his dedication to the ice is unmeasurable. He’s involved in every step, from music selection to input on his costumes to perfectly match his programs. We are blessed to be able to witness his prowess, all while he remains so humble. It’s difficult to not be a fan regardless of whether you care for the sport or not - even his competitors adore him. He just has the ability to capture hearts.

The performance of Yuzuru that made me into his fan was Romeo and Juliet from Nice 2012-a program that also had a fall. Not the cleanest program Yuzuru has but in the program he was able to interweave mistakes into the story of the program.
This Olympic free program depicts the parallels between Yuzuru Hanyu (the skater) and Uesugi Kenshin. In this program, Yuzuru showed what it means to be in between Heaven and Earth and to answer what it means to fight and to thread and wrestle on the pondering if such a fight is worth anything after all. He once again stayed true to the words on his travelling banner-to take on the ginormous challenge, the Olympus Mons of figure skating, the quadruple axel.
And this is why, Yuzuru is loved-not because of his two Olympic gold medals, but because of his dedication to his craft, his love of the sport to push it forward despite all the challenges that he has faced-asthma, losing his rink multiple times, near death experiences, an almost career-ending injury in the same season he set world records within 2 weeks of each other, the slanderous claims directed towards him, etc.
During GPF 2015, after setting the historical record for the overall score, Yuzuru said: "Scores are scores. Performance is performance." From what I remember from Worlds 2012, he was the youngest to compete in Nice, bronze he may be, but the audience applauded that Romeo and Juliet program with a fall-a program where one put one's self wholeheartedly. I still hear the applause during the medal ceremony in 2012 for him.
I have rarely seen figure skaters that delve into their programs philosophically. And I'm glad to have witnessed throughout the years by one born as a feather, tight as a tied bow string.
Blue flames will endure. Spring will come.

@@user-kd9uf7hv6m I wonder what was his success rate at that time, landing the 4A. Did he go into the attempt knowing it's 50-50? Or was it higher? Judging by his speed of recovery I must say he probably did not have a high success rate, that's why he almost had that recovery time planned in the choreography. 😐

@@oreo1263 I have just found the footage of the open practice before the Japanese Nationals 2021. It seems to me he landed it clean but I'm not an expert. It made it to the Japanese media but not to the international one it seems.

the fact that he challenged the 4A at the olympics, fell twice, yet still continued on to deliver such a wonderful program.. the musicality, the technical skill required to perform with such grace despite difficulties. he showed us the art of figure skating. yuzuru hanyu is truly an incredible person.

I honestly feel the falls are apart of the performance. He never misses a beat. When he is skating it's a play for him. He does not skate with pride. Great Athlete.

He really is a genius, most skaters dont get to choose the music they perform, but yuzu is different he decides on his own music, he also edits them to same timing of his jumps, he is such completed package, super love this Heaven on Earth its so deep and calming

The already two-time Olympic champion said he came here for his own dream 4A.
Although his dream did not come true, his brave figure and fighting spirit lit a fire in people's hearts. Isn't that the spirit of the Olympic Games?
Thank you very much! Figure skating legend Yuzuru Hanyu💖💖💖
