      She is great but her coach forcing all the skaters to learn quads and do multiple quads a program like this, is harming women's figure skating, NOT pushing it forward. The reason why these girls can do quads like this, something unheard of and unseen all this time, is because Eteri is willing to resort to abusive and cruel tactics to achieve this. Being a Olympic level athlete is hard, and they should be proud, but the quads are the result of starvation, depriving them of water, because Eteri realized if she can keep these girls as small as possible, if she can delay their body going through puberty, and teach them to rotate in a way that is incredibly damaging to the back(as seen by the girls from past seasons who have had to retire before the age of 20 due to injuries, typically to the back, some so severe that the poor girls have permanent damage and are unable to twist/turn their backs ever again) that they can pull off quad jumps for a few years max. Eteri has caused more injuries than any other coach in this time span, she has caused multiple skaters to develop anorexia because she admits to severely restricting their diets, she had Yulia on a all POWDER nutrition diet and both Eteri and her skater's have stated they cannot drink water around competition time because even a single GRAM of weight gain can disrupt their ability to jump quads. Eteri breaks young girls and because quads have now become this gold standard, it is concerning that other coaches might be willing to risk their skaters health and safety and future career, all because Eteri is being rewarded for her disgusting abusive coaching techniques. Look at the podium from this year's Olympics, Anna and Sasha are absolutely tiny compared to most of the other skaters, figure skaters usually have muscle mass, strong leg muscles and this helps them with their sport, but it makes being able to stay in the air long enough for a quad jump, almost impossible.....but the answer to that isn't to starve them and dehydrate them like Eteri does. Skating has been an amazing sport for so many years, without the need of quads and Eteri has proven with the list of injured girls and early retirements, that the risk is not worth taking

    • @saxumbonum
      @saxumbonum 2 года назад +76

      @@Juwlz I need more people to understand this! The technique is both harmful and not sustainable. There's no glory in being able to do quad jumps if you have to break your body to achieve it and can't have a career longer than a few years as a result.

Finally someone who gets it lol it's really sad how many people don't see the massive problem happening, these poor girls are being starved, forced to think of food in a way that creates eating disorders/terrible relationship to food, forced to learn techniques that will cause lifelong damage to their bodies and sadly when I mention this to people in comments, too many times they care more about the fact that the girls can do pretty jumps than about their wellbeing. It's so sad and because it's being rewarded it is causing other coaches to try the same terrible techniques for a chance at a medal. Robbery is a tradition at the Olympic women's figure skating. Trusova had the fierce spirit of a warrior princess, an irrespressibly unique flair, and the fearlessness to attempt 5 quads (landing 4 cleanly), and still somehow lost to Anna's much less difficult program in 2022. Evgenia, the pretty doe-eyed two-time defending world champion expressive artist wearing the most beautiful dress in Olympic history in her "Anna Karenina" free skate, somehow lost by 1.31 points in 2018 because Alina gamed the system by backloading her long program with jumps to gain technical points (it took her 2+ minutes to attempt her first jump). And Adelina over Yuna Kim in 2014 Sochi was the biggest homer-scoring joke in figure skating history.

      True. This is her character and the choice of music fits her. Yet, I would have appreciated more dancing steps related to rock'n roll between the elements. Kamila Valevna, whose personality seems closer to her, is better than her in that respect. So, I don't understand why the choreographer didn't put more "dancing elements" in her program like rock'n roll like attitudes, and sticked to the "ballet" like codes. They definitively could have been more creative for her.

    All the emotions related to this performance... to see this smile... literally only those who truly follow figure skating will understand. The 40 days before this performance, watching practices in the middle of the night, worried that of the 2 practices every single day in Beijing, she did this only once, knowing she's been dreaming about this achievement for so many years, being the target of so many critiques, withdrawing from a Grand Prix due to a serious ankle injury a few weeks before nationals. Then knowing how wrong the judging system is and how robbed of the gold medal she was. Her scoring was fair, but others weren't. This is the true gold medal performance and the true history made. Every 4 years there's a new Olympic gold medalist but there will never be someone as iconic as Trusova, she's the embodiment of everything the Olympics represent and too bad judges couldn't follow through.

    10 years from now, people would look back at Sasha and see her as a road-opener. She defied the idea of how a woman figure skater should be. And has the real quads, even if she occasionally makes mistakes, her jumps were solid enough. I will argue that her coaches should've done more to help her body heal and preserve her when it is the case. She was never the favourite, ever the underdog. Reminds me a lot of Surya Bonaly. I consider that her performace should have been awarded with the gold, simmilar to Nathan Chen. If the jury put emphasis on technical elements then they should have done it till the end and crown Trusova.
    She is, nonetheless, a road-opener, hope she gets to compete internationally again and get back some of her quads. She is strong and doesn't deserve the hate she has been getting. You see dainty little ballet dancer on ice every single day, but Sasha is one and only in the entire world.
