      @@user-it6xy4ix9q He pretends Hanyu never competed? Idk. There was a radio interview with him and the interviewer praised him being the first Japanese skater to win two Olympic medals and he didn't say a word that "excuse me that's incorrect, Japan has a two time Olympic champion called Yuzuru Hanyu". Then he recently said in an interview that _"But if Malinin didn't jump 4A, the 4A would've remained unknown for a really long time, and someone who could jump it wouldn't quite easily show up. He really has the technical level on jumps that I have never seen before. I wonder how many more years it'll take for an athlete at that level to show up."_ Like he never heard about Hanyu trying to jump the 4A well before the pandemic or seeing him attempting it at JNAT and Beijing and the whole media talking about Yuzuru Hanyu trying to attempt 4A for YEARS before Malinin came into the picture. At Beijing he praised Nathan Chen and himself but somehow forgot to say a word about Hanyu and Chen had to remind him! There were several other occasions when he talked about all other skaters but Hanyu. The most recent I have seen was him criticizing Hanyu's marriage, or divorce, dunno, can't remember anymore. I think he has a grudge on Hanyu.

    Most English speakers won't know this but Yuzuru is a great talker and he is famous for his quotes and affirmations which are sometimes cute or quirky but more often useful perspectives on how to face challenges in life in general. I think one went something like - weakness and strength are sides of a sheet of paper - it's not the same interpretation as Steve Jobs' "two sides of the same coin" quote in case anyone looks it up , but more like being grateful for the weakness caused by his leg injury to give him the time and opportunity to seek out and build strength for the competition in more innovative ways that wouldn't have been possible otherwise, and the strength that was there from the beginning that allows you to see it that way, to relish the challenge when it shows up in life instead of being let down and disappointed and ultimately feel defeated. (It's been a while since I heard that interview, it's one of his many Japanese TV interviews which is probably still on RUclips, and I may be off on the original meaning/interpretation, this was just an example to talk about the incredible wisdom Yuzuru has developed over a lifetime of facing obstacles from bullies, asthma, earthquakes, injuries, in your face media, you name it, and his 'Yay, Bring it' attitude).

      Kinda random but my fav Yuzuru Hanyu quote is “effort (or hard work) can lie but it will never be in vain.” I just love how this saying is so disillusive yet hopeful. True, one can put hours of hard work into something only to not achieve the goal you’ve desired for. But that experience of working hard and throwing your everything into one thing will surely be invested into something else.

    Technically the best. And in my opinion, performance wise also the best. Best skater in history. Yuzuru has broken countless records and borders of figure skating and for a noble cause too- to raise money to help the victims of the earthquake that ravaged Japan years ago. He is mentally, ridiculous. He overcomes the hurdle of injuries and pressure and is never rude. Always humble despite his numerous triumphs.

      @Mentality2 6 лет назад +143

      I agree. And you know, this is very interesting that so many things that we like about Yuzuru are just present in one person. When you think about - if he would of have not been Japanese it would be also different, because the respect, self-awareness, politeness comes from their culture and traditions and are very important in their society. As well as being hardworking. And he said himself he is not humble (people tend to say that about him,which is true BUT from their perspective), which I assume comes from Japanese culture again as they consider impolite bringing attention to themselves. (And Japan loves him hands down). For your understanding - in one of the latest interviews he said something similar to ,,it might sound impolite, but I am very grateful to my family,, and it again comes from their culture, as family avoids attention, not wanting to be impolite. And if you look at Shoma Uno, you will understand why we tend to see his as socially awkward, because our cultures are different we think this way.
      Beside that, Yuzuru was gifted to be very talented and to have a great spirit. ...
      My point is, Yuzuru Hanyu is a gift to people from nature. He was born is right place to be the person he is, and he was wisely gifted by the nature. He took the best from his culture (as also Japanese people are amazed by his wisdom and spirit)to work with his talents.
      And I by no means want to lower his effort, no no no, his success is a result of hard, hard work.
      My congratulations to people of Japan, as I think it is very important for them to have a person like this representing them.
      I started to learn about Japanese culture to understand how it all works in his mind, because I could not handle it in my mind. And it is very interesting, wonderful culture, and it indeed brought me so much knowledge, and explains a lot.

      I think Nathan Chen is now better than him (and anyone) technically but Yuzuru stays my favourite performer indeed. I truly admire Nathan's strength and consistency but I don't enjoy watching him as much. To me, he just doesn't have the same sense of poetry as Yuzuru: watching him is incredibly impressive technically, but apart from that, it's kinda boring. There's no emotion, there's no soul, it's nowhere as moving as Yuzuru's programs. That's why to me, Yuzuru stays the best skater in the world: Nathan is the best technically and he's super consistent but he's just sooo far behind in artistry

    • @manuefige
      @manuefige 5 лет назад +62

      @@eleonoreventura5149 If you consider technique as being able to land the quad flip and quad lutz consistently then Nathan is currently the best out there for sure... But technique isn't just about quads, there are other jumps and other technical elements, spins, transitions, etc. Also the level of difficulty of the entry going into a jump. Nathan isn't the best in all of these. Hanyu is the best at 3A and at difficult entries (he can go into a 3A from basically anything which is crazy), Boyang Jin in my opinion has the best 4Lz out there with Kolyada (but he seldom lands anything lol), Jason Brown may be the best at spins but Hanyu is up there as well, etc. So I don't really agree about Nathan being the best technically. Basically he is the best at practically nothing but he is very good at everything which places him above the others. He has very difficult jumps and is very consistent. Jumps being the elements that give you the biggest amount of points, he rightfully is the world champion. Still many aspects of his skating skills are behind others'.

    • @allaboutyuzu
      @allaboutyuzu 4 года назад +42

      manuefige I agree completely. I could see improvements in Nathan’s skating this year, but he’s still lacking in many of the non-jump-related elements. I think that Yuzuru is the best overall; he has brilliant artistry, musicality, spins, steps, transitions, and quality in all of those, and now he’s challenging the harder quads as well.

      Yuzu can actually increase his spin speed by adopting the hand position of Boyang / Nathan. Seriously. These two did their jumps with one forearm on top of another, without touching their hands in the centre. Yuzu touch his hands when spinning in the air, which slows him down and prevents him from overrotating. If anyone is gonna do the quint, it would be Yuzu. Just do at his pencil-thin figure-- it is perfect for quint.

    I guess Brian has a very good ability to shape/create/raise not the gold medalist but firstly athletes who can very wisely to fulfill their potential. My applause to the coach, as Yuzuru would of have be great anyway, BUT without Brian it would of never been so quick, because of his wild side.
    And it makes me think about this endless BS of seminars and trainings about success and motivation from people who actually have not done much, and do these seminars to get quick money...take a look at Yuzuru Hanyu. Find your passion, find passion in overcoming things, be self-aware, respect yourself and respect others, remember that limits are set by yourself. Be grateful.
    When I think about his passion, I always think of the last part of his Seimei program, when music goes faster and he becomes more expressive and emotional. So much power, feelings - litterally saying - all what I showed you today, this is what it is all about, here I am doing what I like. (Please do not get me wrong, he stays in the character when he skates, just like an actor, but he always brings something from himself also, very wise and wonderful mix)
    And I thought - oh I will just drop a short comment... sometimes it feels I could write a book. Please excuse me for this, I’m just very fascinated with his spirit and motivation.

    yuzu's wild passion and fire for skating is really evident in Beijing 2022, and i really am super grateful for it, because even when things don't go well, when all efforts seemed to have failed him and not paid off, it's the fact that he has such an innate desire and passion for figure skating that has continuously brought him back to the practice rink (maybe along with the fact that he wants to inspire us and give us hope?) and even to the gala exhibition, which his attendance seemed uncertain of when men's singles had just ended. but it is also this immense love and joy of skating, of chasing his own dream that he is in the winter olympics, attempting the quadruple axel at such a high stakes competition, BECAUSE it is his dream. and for all of that, i am grateful.
    i am grateful that his love and passion brought him to attempt the 4A at the olympics, and equally grateful that it has brought him back to the skating rink, when all seems to have failed. i just know that whatever he chooses to do in the future, he will do well, because of his wild passion and love that has never dimmed since he started skating.

      A asma dele sempre foi o maior oponente dele, se ele tivesse a saúde perfeita aí seria ruim p ele ñ teria ninguém p competir com ele, então ele ñ teria as maioria das lesões q são causadas pelo uso contínuo de corticoide q ataca os ossos da pessoa, e qualquer queda se torna maior p ele

    the thing that sets yuzu apart from the rest is his aura. the aura that surrounds him whenever he's on the ice, whenever he performs. u can tell, straight away he's gonna win it. u can tell he genuinely loves being on the ice and performing and that's what makes him so great

    I love watching figure skating ⛸ however I can’t remember the last time I watched the Olympics. Finding Yuzuru was the best thing ever omg he soared like a Phoenix. Sometimes being a wild card isn’t a bad thing, it builds fierce character and oomph to his personality. He has the power to make me look again so now I’m catching up through him. I love Yuzuru as he is, beautiful in every way.

    What makes Yuzuru Hanyu so great? It's a combination of truly notable things: enormous talent, true hard work, intelligence and the ability to challenge himself over the years, never thinking "I'm the best, that's enough", never! He went to Orser because he knew he had to be perfected, and learn not only quads and jumps but to how to recover his stamina. But above all, he's the type of athlete that admires others and learn from them, learn from his own mistakes rather than blaming "I could hear the cheers, it got me on my nerves", "the ice was slippery", etc, when he does a mistake he blames himself only and, most of all, never wanted the public to know how much injured he was before a competition. I truly wish he recovers from this last (really bad) injury because it was not the first time, not the second time, his right ankle got injured. I am a bit concerned, to be honest.

      Even when there was a hole on the ice at Beijing 2022 which made him pop his 4Sal, he never blamed it on anyone and even commended the staff for their hardwork and making the ice rink at its best.... I would never, if it were me I would've talked to the referee..but him, he just accepts it, move on and BE GREATER. Much more to
      Learn from him

He definitely able to brings their best without them loosing themselves. Yuzuru and Javier not only just strong in their techniques, but also in performance that shows their souls and characters. That's why it's always wonderful to see their performances. You can always feel their love and passion, more than anyone else. I often get bored when see other's performances just half way through. But never with theirs. Yuzuru always give me different senses and feelings, he is just love to skate. Never get bored with him. He is the reason I watch men skating. Before, I only watch women's. Yuzu is always smiling and laughing but deep inside he is a warrior, a burning desire to win and it HAS to be gold! Pushing himself to the limits and really in control of his destiny.
