My brother was in the Navy in the mid 60s and he saw Peggy Lee perform at the Naval hospital.. not sure if this was the one but he called home very excited because she took the time to talk with them individually. Apparently she appeared many times at different facilities for our Servicemen and Women.
Wow Peggy could swing. She was so good at singing pop music we forget she was such a great jazz singer. I feel sorry for those men having to be in the hospital but how lucky they were to have her brighten up their world.
Peggy is one of those rare, special, one-of-a-kind people and performers. Her gift is mysterious and difficult to describe. When she show up and opens her mouth, we are enveloped in her magic. She is kissed by God.
Check out her very early performance if “Why don’t you do right”…..Peggy has on a white dress and I think her 1st. Husband was on the guitar…..Peggy is absolutely adorable….Swings with the song….But is cool and classy at the same time….
I grew up in the 70s with great vocalists such as Lina Rostandt, Karen Carpenter, etc....But, really I grew to add Peggy to my favorites listening here on youtube clips. She was my pop's all-time favorite...now I know why! LOVE U Peggy!!
Wonderful video--not just musically but for so many reasons. A reminder not just of Miss Lee's special talent but of a time long ago when the world was a different place
Peggy Lee was an inspiration to me back in the '60's when I was a teen-ager. And not just because of her singing. I'd read an interview with her from the '50's where she was asked who she considered "the sexiest man alive." Without a pause she answered, "Albert Schweitzer." (For those who don't recognize the name, he was a Swiss physician who left the comforts of a prosperous practice to start a clinic for lepers in Africa.) Peggy's answer to that question let me know, even as hormones were surging through my body, that there was more to sex than just sex. I still remember that. Thank you, Miss Peggy Lee.
I never got how great she was until I was in my 30s. I dismissed her with Dinah Shore, Doris Day, mushy, marshmellowy sorts of singers. I was so wrong. Peggy is great...hypnotic and full of rhythm! Thanks for sharing this. I had not seen it before.
Imagine being in a Navy hospital and having Peggy Lee come to entertain you!!! I don't recall ever seeing her in this 'full' hairdo. As a child, I was enamored with Peggy, notably, "Fever", "I'm A Woman" and the tunes from "Lady And The Tramp".
Thanks for pointing out that piece. Have always loved afew of her songs 🎵 but thanks to RUclips and spotify I can't get enough and especially this infectious piece of celluloid above
Peggy the Great!

I have not heard a song by Peggy Lee that I did not like!!! She was and is fantastic...

Legend
We need to bring back more of this...famous people entertaining patients and troops..................We need to be uplifted NOW more than ever...

I liked seeing Peggy clap her hands during this performance.
Gotta love that guy clapping with one hand!
Formidable Peggy Lee. She gives me joy and happyness. 🥰

a man with a broken hand clapping against the wall makes me cry
What a fine entertainer and a great American as well..
This video's great for so many reasons--I know I don't have to explain.
When she did this song with the righteous Brothers on the Ed Sullivan show it was phenomenal.
Purest voice ever. Beautiful video. Rest in that cool beat, Miss Lee. Angels rocking out.
Huge fan.
Hallelujah yes indeed
Peggy no doubt rocked a lot of houses back in her day. When I think of her, I think of my dad and his love for this kind of music.
Yes, indeed she knows the rhythm can cure... Bless her soul!

Just ditto. I "discovered" her long after I was out of high school. I learned via You Tube that there was a LOT more to her career than "Fever!"
Wonderful video--not just musically but for so many reasons. A reminder not just of Miss Lee's special talent but of a time long ago when the world was a different place
My favorite of Peggy's is "Why Don't You Do Right!" love her! 😘
Very Kool. Peggy’s Great and so is dad on the traps!!! When music was Music!!!
She is always outstanding never disappointed in each stellar performance. I shall treasure her presence, always.
She also performed this song with the Righteous Brothers on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Incredible! Her singing was so unfussy and on point and it swung! This brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for posting

stevers62 very hypnotic. Dinah SHORE WAS MY grandmothers cousin. My grandmother was born in Nashville
But Peggy Lee is my favorite.
Guilty of the very same--and now I regret it She's got so much depth and aspect to her.
Hey man, we learn. I had a similar experiece with Mel Torme, and as a I grew older, I grew wiser.
Shouldn't dismiss Doris either
Fantastic performance ! Love Peggy Lee !!
After that middle eight she is channeling the spirits. Fully.
I adore Miss Peggy Lee
Nobody like her,I love her too.
Pure talent! No auto-tune or computer-generated junk.

I might have been the oldest 11 yr old alive: My favorite song was, 'Is That All There Is? '😊 She was bloomin' wonderful.
Peggy was always in such a good mood!
Miss Peggy Lee is The Greatest!!
Terrific. In a hospital ward yet. No special effects needed.
Outstanding!
I just adore her. Always have.
She and Dinah Washington should be known more than they arez
A very unusual spiritual performer
Love her to pieces ❤

I can understand why Petula Clark often has mentioned that Peggy Lee was her favourite singer.
Thank You for that information.

Interesting that in front of a white audience in 1961 she name checks Ray Charles.
1961.. what action might have landed all these sailors in sick bay..?
Korean War
no, ended in 1953, this dates back to 1961
I was a Navy Hospital Corpsman then. It was peacetime but people still got sick, had operations, broke bones, etc.
Ships are dangerous. Especially for those that work on the flight deck of aircraft carriers.
Scurvy?
That looks like Stan Levey on drums. ???
How far the so called pop singers of today have gone into the sewer compared to this great artist.
Omg, sooo true John. I couldn't agree more.
