Mrs Mongrel just wants you out of the house it seems! Lol. I think Tom spoke more on this episode than all the others combined. 😀 You’ll be ok Tom. Tough as all that timber you collected. Thanks for taking us on your journeys. Safe riding guys. 🏍️👍🏻🙏🦘
What a fantastic series, thanks for taking the time and effort to allow us to come along. I wish Tom a speedy full recovery. What a great example you both set with your patience, persistence and humour. Maybe it was a little different when the cameras weren’t recording….😬
On these big trips (and even on shorter ones) it is important that you mesh together otherwise it could be awkward. We had similar personalities. Thanks for watching.
@@mongreldogproductions Finding the right riding partners can be a challenge. In 5 years I've found only a few, and now it all got harder because the only working plated bike is a pretty slow thing with short range.
Tom's a brave and calm man.... I've done a near identical injury skiing and I reckon everyone with a few kilometres would have heard my screams of agony.... Thanks for sharing this with us Steve, helps keep our spirits up when we're not out where we would rather be.
The only reason Tom did not curl up in the foetal position and cry like a baby is because he couldn't move his leg. Nobody was gunna hear his scream...not out there. Thanks for watching.
Fantastic series. My wife and I were watching this whilst eating dinner and when the story about Tom came up on the screen we were sure you were going to say he’d passed. Having done the Simpson I know how vast it is so it’s fantastic they found him so quickly! Keep up the great work
Sadly in the most recent two Nullarbor crossings in October/November I have seen long haul freight trucks parked on the side of the RFDS designated landing strips. I have got to think this is, or should be illegal. This is a new phenomenon I have not previously seen in any crossing since those landing strips were established. Wishing Tom a quick recovery. Cool dude and obviously not one to panic, going by the footage. PS: The milk has reached its "use by" date and needs to be replaced !
Mate, i knew from the previous video at the end when you put the milk in the fridge the next episode(this one) was the grand finale. Damn! I am like an addict who has an addiction to "Mongrel Productions". Hopefully my next hit won't be too far away considering the good wife asked you to nip down the shop for some sugar. lol. Absolute enjoyment to watch mate. Best wishes and a speedy recovery to your mate Tom. And on a sad note, it's always a tragedy with a loss of life. May the victims of the accident R.I.P. All the best:-)
A fine finale to a epic series. I never watch an episode were I dont learn something or have something reinforced. Good to hear Tom's unplanned park in the bushes was not super serious. The endings a cracker !
Steve this was a great series and the mystery of Tom’s fuel problem was intriguing. When he showed how the engine stalled with that cover in place, I thought he had found the problem. My honda EU20i generator closes down pretty quickly if the fuel cap air intake is closed so I thought several times it was something like that. Wishing Tom a full recovery and hope he’s back on the new bike enjoying the outback again soon. Cheers, Andrew.
Thanks Steve to you and Tom. This series had it all as well as covering so many incredible places in our wonderful OZ. Thoughts to Tom on his recovery. Cheers and stay safe out there.
Tom's military training must be coming to the fore when describing his possible broken leg, any form of panic would surely accelerate his demise. I am with you about your comment of supporting local businesses, I am a contractor to Chorus and get around the mid north of the North Island and make a point of going to the cafes in the smaller towns around here. Most of them are on a tourist trail but between Easter and Labour Weekend in October there are not many of them around and the businesses still have all their fixed costs, rent, rates etc. We're booked onto the Ghan in August '24 and driving south after it, hopefully we'll see some sights as seen on your and other adventure rider's channels. Looking forward to your next series, Anthony.
Good to hear that Tom was rescued OK and is recovering - not with too many scars even ! As they say "You can die out here" , being prepared for the worse is a good way to be.
Thanks once for taking us along for the journey. Most enjoyable. I’m quite sure you’re not going to the neighbour to borrow a cup of sugar for your next adventure. Haha 👍
Absolutely fantastic series Steve. Many thanks. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We are so fortunate in Australia to have this huge amazing country to explore and over here in WA we are the luckiest of the lucky! 😊
Sorry about Tom, so the solution to the bike problem was to to buy a new bike. Nice I like it. Hope the bike was recovered, looking forward to Tom featuring in your adventures
"That... has come out of a machine shop." "Perfectly straightened." Love it! It's a surprisingly good find for a replacement piece. Been an amazing series, hope Tom has a full and speedy recovery.
No one tell the misses she can order and get it delivered! A few sad events - the fatal accident. Toms leg and getting the milk into the fridge. Thankfully there is sugar. Just to say, thank you - your adventures are liberating and very, very enjoyable.
Hi Steve, I have to say that your adventure videos are truly inspiring. I had a 2007 1200GSA which I had for 10 years and decided to sell it. I did quite a few trips with it and was a excellent bike . I sold it about 5 years ago and after watching your videos, I've decided to get another one soon. Ive had quite a few bikes in the meantime , but the GSA is the pick.I am time poor at the moment but that's going to change soon. I saw that your mate Tom had gone for a tumble and gave himself a sore leg. I very pleased that he's going to be ok , he seems like he's a good mate to you. If you ever come to Wollongong, NSW, I'd love to shout you a coffee or dinner, just a thank you for opening my eyes again. You seem like a true, decent person and it's good to see that your doing what you truly enjoy. Best wishes mate , regards Chris.

A good reminder never to take the outback for granted as you keep reminding us. Very sorry to hear about Tom that was very unlucky indeed all the best for a speedy recovery. Great video. Thanks for all the work
Only watched 2 videos but you got a sub. I really appreciated what you said about supporting those outback business. Grew up in a small town family hardware store and people stopping in for a few items always helped a lot.
Keep up your unique way of narrating your films, very enjoyable and unmissable viewing. Had a good chuckle at 16:57, knew something was coming, very mischievous, and leaves it right open for a sequel.
Ah, Laverton, I know it well. Lived there for a few years whilst working for Western Mining Nickel mine. That dirt road I have driven on so many times I've lost count. Worked for Lockheed Martin at the Jindalee Over the Horizon Radar network, situated about 80 km out of Laverton, for 7 years Fly in Fly out before retirement. Thanks for the memories. It looks like the road side has been cleaned up , as it used to be littered with burnt out and trashed cars.
Is that where Jindalee is…I have pulled up to the front gate and knew it was hush hush, but I didn’t realise it was the OTHR set up. Glad you enjoyed your trip down Memory Lane.
Not many people would go that far for a couple of litres of milk, but I’m glad that you blokes did ! The videos you make are really enjoyable, and I have watched all of them. Thanks for taking us on the journey, and cheers to Tom.
Tom has made a full recovery and lives to ride another day. He has just completed a solo, unsupported crossing of the Simpson Desert (August 2023) so now we can all get some rest! Thanks for watching. 😀
Great stuff as usual Steve, Wishing Tom a speedy recovery. As an Ex RFDS Pilot in Victoria, I can say we are very lucky in Australia to have a world class Medical System. Many people are involved in getting Patients the medical treatment they need. It's a huge team effort. In particular the Paramedics. Keep the vids coming. Regards FPPete.
Absolutely brilliant series, my wife who is not a bike rider, enjoyed watching and following your adventure. Keep them coming Steve. All the best from Dunsborough. 👍
Another great series sir, i think you and tom make a good team too . Tom seemed very calm after breaking his leg, obviously is prepared for anything like yourself. I thought he had the bike sussed out finally .... I had to laugh at the ending of the video👍 Cheers 4 sharing sir.
The bike was recovered four days later to Birdsville...all intact along with all his personal belongings. Now he has to get it back to Perth. 'Whats that' you say...another Ride coming up?
Thank you for sharing this series. The ending was perfect! :) It's going to snow soon where I live, so between watching vids from down under and working on the bike and planning routes, that's all the riding excitement I'm getting until sometime next year. Best of luck to Tom for a speedy recovery 👍 And while I am not one to talk for this (lifelong camera shyness) Tom would be more than welcome to get in front of the camera. You guys work together nicely like Pavlin and Dima over at Motorcycle Adventures. Keep up the good work guys 👍😃
Thanks Steve for this brilliant series and your fun and informative commentary. Love watching your videos from the cold rainy UK - reminds us of our time in Oz, and showing parts of Australia we’ll never get to see. Let’s Go!!
Glad Tom is ok, reading the text I thought the worst. Great series especially when I'm sitting in a wet Scottish winter. You have a fantastic country for exploring. Looking forward to your next adventure. Wishing Tom all the best for his recovery.
Thoroughly enjoyed the journey, thanks. Tough as nails 'ol Tom, no drama. Wishing him a speedy full recovery. Disappointed no fish found in the carb :)
Very interesting and well produced. Thanks for shareing the trip with us. Good on ya both and good luck for the future. Get well soon Tom, you tough bugger.
Wow, firstly thank goodness Tom is ok and we have the tech like those SOS trackers. It’s a good reminder to the risks we take. Tom looks like he really took it like a man, tough bugger. I did the same on my 850gs a couple of years back at southern cross, I was able to ride home using a wire on the quick shifter, left ankle was fractured in 3 places. My riding skills can’t keep pace with my ambition so I sold the GS and setup a single cab Ranger for adventure.
Great work Steve & Tom Thanks so much for sharing your experiences with us we know it’s hard filming and doing the editing to put it all together. Again thanks very much we really appreciate your hard work & fun riding. Stay safe Cheers
Riding is so much fun and def comes with dangers and as someone who has experienced outback a couple times now it is easy to see how accidents happen and why things are more strict than they used to be but its still the wild west
I would travel with both you lads ,after a lifetime of working in remote places for months on end you get to know who you can have the companionable silences with ! Great series
Always love your content mate . I was eagerly searching for the next instalment all the way through . Thanks for taking the time and effort for us trapped in the work a day cycle and allowing us to ride along with you . I reckon your mate should take a leaf outta your book and get a GS , geez that DR was a pain in the arse , I would have set fire to it .
Tom had a GS but it was limiting on where he would take it. The DR allows him to extend his travels (rightly or wrongly) to a new dimension (in pain lol). Thanks for watching.
Such nice blokes these adventurer riders, makes watching these videos real good feel vibes. Always looking out for each other which would be a must out there in the remote areas. Feel so sad about the fatalities tho 😢.
Have just binged watched this series, I must say Steve, one of the best outback vid's I've ever seen. I've been to many places along your route, in a 4WD, would love to experience it on a motorbike. Although I don't think my ZX14R would make it very far. Keep up the good work and I hope to see you on the road one day.
Oh no, best wishes to Tom on a speedy recovery. Hope to see you 2 back out cruising the roads of Aust again in the near future. What a wonderful series of filming Steve. So well put together and the Drone footage takes it to the next level. Waiting for your next adventure.
Appreciate all the effort put in to making the videos of your adventures. Really inspiring especially seeing Tom’s tenacity trying to resolve his bike problems. Hope he is back to full health soon and hope to hear of more adventures. Best wishes to you both and looking forward to seeing the sugar run.
Goodness me I thought Tom had an accident and passed away, just goes to show an emergency beacon is essential. Tom thinking of you as I had the same injury last year, takes a good year till it is all better again. Great work Steve. A+
"Goodness me I thought Tom had an accident and passed away"...I couldn't resist. I'm such a tease lol. Tom still lives and breathes. Glad you like the vid(s).
Good improvisation and thanks for another great journey. Tom has had that tank off the old DR650 so many times on your trip, it's a wonder he had not seen the airbox choke before.
What a marathon trip and what a marathon series of videos. Thank you, Steve, I reckon there are more than a couple of us who get our adventure riding jollies vicariously via your efforts. Commiserations to Tom. Hopefully his recovery is rapid and not too painful. I have never owned a DR650, but from what I have read, if you want the best fuel economy and reliability, the thing is to leave them factory stock. Regarding the fatal. I thought I recognised the truck that had pulled up there and sure enough it is owned and driven by Steve Graham, well known WA trucking hero and popular star of the Outback Truckers TV series. I doubt it was the first fatal he has seen during his driving career. Looking forward to your next trip and video. 🙂
Hi David, from what I understand, the red 4WD was overtaking the truck and didnt see the oncoming vehicle because of the dust cloud. Fatal mistake so easily avoided. Glad you enjoyed the adventure(s). Thanks for your continued support.
Thanks for a great series Steve, I have really learned a lot from watching your travels. You guys are so incredibly lucky to have so many thousands of KMs to ride and the open spaces to just stop off and camp .... amazing !!
Mrs Mongrel just wants you out of the house it seems! Lol.
I think Tom spoke more on this episode than all the others combined. 😀

A very sobering video. One of the many reasons why I support the RFDS regularly.

Excellent production. I hope to see you again with Tom on a new adventure. Thank you very much.
You're welcome.😀
Another great trip mate excellent viewing for us dreamers here in freezing england,.
England...Brrr! Glad you enjoyed the journey.
A big thanks for sharing your adventures from the other side of the globe and all the best for Tom. Looking forward to follow you collecting sugar
Get well soon Tom, wishing you a speedy recovery.
Good improvisation and thanks for another great journey. Tom has had that tank off the old DR650 so many times on your trip, it's a wonder he had not seen the airbox choke before.
In the end, it wasn't the cause anyway...check Vid description for cause. Thanks for watching.
Won't lie that opening had me thinking the worst. Great set of vids m8.
Yeah, nerve wracking but I couldn't resist. I'm such a tease lol. Tom still lives and breathes. Glad you like the vid(s).
Cracking mate, looking forward to next ....
You guys are so incredibly lucky to have so many thousands of KMs to ride and the open spaces to just stop off and camp .... amazing !!
We are blessed! Thanks for watching...glad you enjoyed the journey.
Bloody Fantastic
Great to follow along
Speedy recovery Tom. I enjoy living vicariously through you guys.
Thank you for sharing your journey with us 🍻
🙏
"Grab ya gear, let's go"....... Another great series, looking forward to see where you find the sugar Steve. Thanks.
