What a great adventure! Thank you so much for your inspiring footage and taking the time to do the video editing and compiling your drone footage. Very well done. I’m now hooked to start planning this journey early autumn 2023.
Looks like a great trail, well, except for the mud, lol. Great videography. Beautiful looking area. We got 30cm of snow a few days ago here in the west kootenays of bc canada, and are down to one local ride. -1c on the ride yesterday.
Thanks mate one day I'll like to fly into Vancouver and ride to Jasper then to Banff and start the GDMBR over your summer. This area is usual dry desert but unusual rains in the year have produced the greenery you see, no snow though.
Was this September/October 2022? You were unlucky with the rain. Beautifully filmed, I'm thinking that drone footage is a must for anyone who wants to capture these memories.
It started October 22 and was a wet year while there's mud it also brings out the greenery of the Flinders Ranges which makes them magical. A drone helps give you the scenery but not necessary as you remember what you see and that's from an on bike situation so a Go pro is good and if I had two I would hav done on the helmet so when you turn your head to see the vision captures what you see while one on the bike just gives you straight in front. But how many cameras should I carry when I'm trying to reduce down to an iPhone and drone. cheers
Nicely recorded journey. Thanks for sharing. Can i ask what tome of year you went and if you done it again, who you go at the same time of year? Thanks
I went in early October but it was a very wet year so I had generally good weather but I reckon normally September when the farms are green. I was on the Yorke Peninsula same time and everything was brown. September gives you some sunshine instead of during winter
How did you find the Mawson in comparison to the Munda Biddi? I rode the MB in 2022 and followed almost exactly the same schedule as you did on your trip so we are probably similar in terms of speed and my bikepacking set up happens to be very similar to yours. Would you rate one more difficult than the other?
A really good video. I have done out and back sections of the trail but never the whole trip. I plan to do the lot as you did next month. Did you have any puncture problems as I did with 3 cornered jacks, (calthrops}? and did you run tubeless or tubes? Cheers.
Ian I hope you have as much fun as I did. I asked cyclist coming my way whether there was issues I had none likely because it was all still green. I had no tyre issues running 2.6 inch tubeless but my brakes got hammered, now getting new pads.
29 x 2.6 inch I think Reckon Black I’ve changed them to a 2.35 specialised to go narrower and lighter as I’m struggling with the weight of the bike to travel on planes under the weight limit including bags
Did the Mawson in 2020. One of the best things I've ever done in my life. Thanks for bringing the memories back.
Thanks its a bit of a memoir for me too
Another billiant ride and documentry
The photography is the best Ive seen of the Mawson. Great job! Thanks for the time and effort you put into it.
Cheers I had trouble with the drone at first but got it working right by the time I hit Clare
Thanks for sharing, that looks a tough terrain to cycle but fun.nice one😊
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for making this beautiful video
Thanks for watching
Excellent ride stunning views and country side.
thanks for watching, just the right time of the year to get the best of South Australia
Great journey, thanks for sharing 👍
cheers thanks for watching
Gorgeous place for cycling. I reckon your Rohlof setup is spot on for this terrain.
Only problem is with mud the chain comes off and the back wheel needs to come off to get it back on otherwise no derailer problems

EPIC!

Nice video. What’s the first song in the video? Thanks.
Thanks, the first song is Before the Rain by A Taylor taken off Musicbed
Great vid - what maxxis did you run for this trip?
29 x 2.6 inch I think Reckon Black
I’ve changed them to a 2.35 specialised to go narrower and lighter as I’m struggling with the weight of the bike to travel on planes under the weight limit including bags
Sharp editing although music bit dull.bit of AC/DC would have topped it off😅
How much you reckon it costs for the trip? Did you stay at motels or was it just the tent?
16 nights tent for 7 nights, hut for 3 free, motel or bnb for 5 as it was wet $819
@@paddlebikehiker thanks mate, looked like a great trip
What song is that?
the first song is Before the Rain by A Taylor taken off Musicbed
In China???
Are motorcycles aloud on this trail ?
For some parts your on private property or national park or forest but alternate routes could be worked out. There were about 100 gates to go through
