So the game forgot to add a zero onto the crafting amount for my drills, i apologise everyone! the crafting amount is 50* steel and lead not 5, if anyone is struggling to get that amount at the start of the game i can do a video showing you guys how and where to find the required amounts to start the new base defences in game. sorry for any confusion! cheers 🤟🤟
This is really just a complaint about my own play style but i love running through the trees and towns, popping in and out to fight with guerilla tactics. With the base defense, i feel more like im just stationary. I always get bored after a couple defenses, then spend hours running around the map. And the damn robots never really target me. Always the base. I feel neglected. But other than that, the amount of region score you gain is insane.

I just discovered control point yesterday and played on the hardest difficulty. Although I am losing, I am farming the big robots by killing them with the early game rocket launcher. Great video
I haven't played in a while where is this base you're at is it the one right after you get to the mainland from the small islands at the bottom? Across from the aircraft hanger type of thing?

Will any of the pill boxes or sniper towers be effective at this location? Like does that harvester always spawn in the water? Because if so would putting a grenade launcher pill box pointed at that location be beneficial or would it do next to no damage and just waste resources ?
personally i only use the sniper towers as the rocket pillboxes when fired go threw the enemies so its bugged for me and the machine gun pillboxes dont tend to do much damage i feel, as for setting them up test you base defence on easy as i belive they only come from two ways on this control point so set the sniper towers up on the 2 side you get attacked from :)
Dunno if it's really a handicap if you're using 1 crown weapon, since you're rocking that shotgun. Anyway jokes aside the base defense in my opinion is just not a fun gamemode, and if we're talking about those metals, it's not rewarding at all either and I think those refined metals are the only things I would actually want to obtain... Tho I guess there are some weapon augments that use ethanol or phosphorus but I can't remember from the top of my head. Lastly if someone says they can't afford 3 drills they either have not progressed in the game so far that they can even build bases or they are lying. Killing like 2 hunters nets you close to 100 steel if they happen to drop that bunch, and so much ammo that you can recycle to get enough lead as well. It's almost stupid how goddamn much hunters drop loot nowadays, especially steel, but junk ammo as well that can be dismantled.. not to mention dismantling that normal junk ammo gives explosives, which along with that steel can be crafted into AP ammo. The ammo economy as a whole is kinda broken, since you can get infinite supply of any normal ammo, and experimental ammo are near impossible to get and it takes far too much effort.
haha its never a handicap when your using a racs-12 but it took me ages just to find that one crown 🤣 see i'll never understand peoples logic when it comes to base defences as they will grind machines for hours spawning in rivals and thats super fun and enjoyable... but then all of a sudden its boring to do that EXACT same thing for base defences... i can't get my head around the logic. the furnace needs a huge buff to those refined mats because the amount of base bats you lose is crazy! and 110% by the time they come across the base defence mission they should be stacked with the basic materials but you'd be surprised how many people were trying to say they couldn't afford both and they weren't even new players from the way they were talking.
each to their own i guess, at least your honest and admit its just because you don't want to do it, whilst everyone else is saying the game shit because of said changes instead of just admitting there lazy and cant be assed grinding for the best gear now.
I watched this video twice lol I still do not understand how to start a base defense mission since the update ??? Do you have to build the drill or furnace and then literally start it like that?? I’ve been playing since October and this new update has me just as confused as when I first started 2 months ago ???
Yeah so simply build your drill, chem lab or furnace( furnace is broken so wait till January patch) and they all have a start button and you just walk up to it press it and choose the difficulty setting and the base defence will start
Don't know what you were smoking, but the drill costs 50 steel and 50 leand to build not 5 of each. Hat to load the game to see make sure there wasn't something else the cigs I was amoking.

Oh, so the enemies I face are from nearby.
At the lowest setting I met 3 harvesters, 2 tank, and lots of hunters

Don't forget that you can scrap walls in unused bases to get materials to soup up your control points with where you have your special stations
