Calvert Fig Tasting Review 10-24-2024

- Another Adriatic type scoring high on tasting review. This Calvert didn't need to be pollinated to develop perfect balance of honey sweetness with added raspberry tartines. Intense dark berry flavor mixed with black mulberry (figgy) flavor. Brix (sugar content) of 36.5.
Note: This variety need more evaluating. I have to see more production, and ripening under different conditions to evaluate it properly. It will be up potted soon, and that should result in healthier growth. For now, it is promising based on taste, next season review will be more complete. @backyardfigs.com

Looks wonderful! I need to add it to my collection
These figs came from young plants. Next year they could be even better and more productive.

It is harder to compare when other figs are not present. But, I do flnd more similarities with PT, both in flavor and texture. Blanc has different flavor profile, more red berries then dark. Again, really hard to compare intensity since I didn't have them together, but if I watch my review of Cdd Blanc, I probably said that it's in the top three. And I said this for more then ten varieties lol.

I guess this is different than Culvert?
@@matthewking2209 I am not familiar with Culvert variety. Mine came from Harvey, I believe.
