Thank you for that, I have been planning several ways to heat my house I have a insert woodstove in my fireplace. And watching your video I put both of those items into my Amazon cart. Will be ordering them in a few days
I am 88 and have pain in my wrist and fingers. I take straight grained ; fir, cedar, hemlock or even alder and cut it to 6 inch lengths, slab it in my wood splitter and then stack it and split it in half inch pieces. Several strokes, is a fire and several boxes are a year worth of kindling and I sleep well at night without finger or wrist pain. Even if I used a hatchet I had a broad on and split more than one slab at a time. The key to good kindling is dry wood. Iguana
I own one of these, the middle one. I learned quickly to not use wood that's too long. It will split the log but, due to being too long, it would get stuck because it wouldn't go far enough to complete the split. Please don't make my mistake!
@@LDSPrepper : AWESOME!!! I just ordered up two of the Kindling Cracker XL's... One for us, and one as a House Warming neighbor that's building their new home near by.
Far as that 4 way one you can secure it with screw in cable straps Get a metal ash bucket or similar put that on log first then put the kindling maker in that then secure it thru the bucket into log then your not chasing chunks and small pieces down. My buddy took and debarked a nice chunk of log a small splitter and used a brass or copper bucket for inside the house near his fireplace. Looks great.
The largest one is different than the link given to purchase. I like the oval shaped one in the video. The link takes you to just a larger version of the little one in the middle with a round opening. Anyone know how to find the oval?
Harbor freight sells a manually operated wood splitter for around $100 bucks. It's basically a hydraulic bottle Jack laid on its sidw in a frame and you just place a log in it and pump the handle.
Thankyou for reviewing the wood splitters. Do you have any tips and easy tricks for maintaining the blade and cast iron for car campers ? Thanks again for a great review 👍🔥
Have owned the XL for a couple years now...its a game changer. We use it in the house all winter and in our RV all summer.
I just.ordered the XL to take to campgrounds . Any tips and easy tricks to maintain and the blade and cast iron for car campers ? Thankyou 🔥👍
Thank you for this review. I want one of this. I had heard of them awhile ago but had just moved into my home and plan on heating primarily with wood.

That is slick! I keep putting off making kindling, it’s starting to get cold so I better do it!
Since I got the XL I can't stop making kindling because it it so fun! amzn.to/33iC711
@@LDSPrepper that’s the way I feel about growing micro dwarf tomatoes indoors in the winter.. I can’t stop!
@@Junzar56 Awesome! Congratulations!
I think we have the middle one. We heat our home exclusively by wood heat. We love our wood splitter.
I've seen those but haven't given them any thought till now - I've done it the old way for 50 yrs
I bought the XL a couple of weeks ago, but haven’t used it yet. I hope I made the right choice! Lol
You'll have no regrets, promise.
How about the mallet you like so much? Brand, Model #... Thank you!

@@foxt1042 That is very thoughtful. Good for you.
Hey @LDSPrepper - we love that you love the Kindling Cracker King. The other two are illegal copies of the patented Kindling Cracker too!
I just saw the advertisement for the drill bit splitter, what do you think about that?
Thanks for sharing. 👍🏻🇺🇸
What do you use to cut the the logs with? Do you use a wood splitter? If so, what kind is it?
I have the pre-cut 1/4 round split wood delivered.
What kind if hard wood do you have? We are in the Ozarks and have primarily oak.

Gotta have one.
The four way one is ringing because it's not screwed down
Seems like you would dull that blade every time you hit it with the mallet
It looks like the ring would stop the mallet handle and this the head from going low enough to make contact with the blade.
@@dannyh9010 would be good , so need special sized mallet? And wouldn't the handle break eventually?

Put an old spare tire around the XL . that way you don't have to keep bending over to pick up the kindling
