Good to see the lude still alive and well.
Your a beast !
Thanks bro! I’m super happy that I get to daily her again :D
hey man! just found out about this vid and it’s helped me to start fixing my own ludes harmonic balancer. I got a new pulley but it doesn’t fit like my old one, the diameter of the teeth inside seems to be smaller so it wouldn’t sit on properly, did yours fit on nicely? any help is appreciated!
Might have do do with proper torque spec on that bolt ...
Glad you got that fixed ! Good job
I had one fall off while driving 😒🤣 not fun
ahhhhh man, I pray that mine doesnt fall off! We'll see. I'm still getting some sort of noise from that area while driving. I'll double check the torque on that bolt and make sure the belts are tightened up correctly.
WHAT I always wondered why the prelude didn't get the service spec hood position like the civics and tegs, but now I see this and never had any idea hahaha, thanks man!
🤣🤣🤣 It always comes in clutch for big jobs :D
I noticed mine had a wobble not to long ago, replaced it with a new aftermarket one and it didn’t help at all. It’s been fine ever since though
ahhh mannn, mine still wobbles a tiny bit. Do you get rubbing on your timing cover?? I do, and its pretty annoying when I hear it while driving 🥲
@@Rawrkee um I don’t think so. When it wobbles bad I can hear it but I thought it was just the pulley making noise. I didn’t check if it was rubbing the timing cover
I just replaced mine with the same one in the video and noticed it still wobbles. Also makes annoying screeching sound again. Any ideas as to why?
@@RawrkeeYou should have used an original Honda crank pulley. Some aftermarket parts are bigger or smaller than the original Honda parts.
Yo I commented on a video about a week ago and I have a prelude now ! But I am getting a squeak at startup I had some people tell me that is a symptom of a bad balancer too, what do you think?
It could be a slightly loose belt
Awesome, welcome to the prelude club!! You’ll have to send me a video on Instagram or something so I could hear it
@@Rawrkee I actually ended up replacing the belts I’m sure it was just loose 😂 I was a bit nervous the day I asked you just checking out prelude forums then I seen you posted about the balancer I was like what a coincidence that might be it 🤣
But I plan on asking any questions when I get them I am a little nervous just trying to not make too big a mistake with my lude
Were you able to fit that balancer holder in without lowering the engine?
You have to lower the engine otherwise you can’t reach the crank bolt
@@Rawrkee thanks for the reply, my new pulley gets here tomorrow. 2 bolts on the driver side? Or did you lower it evenly?
@@syko846 I just removed the mount bracket and supported the engine with a Jack and piece of wood
@@Rawrkee thank you! I’m going to tackle this Saturday morning
@@syko846 good luck bro! The hardest part is breaking the crank pulley because it’s torqued to like 180 ft lbs. but once you’ve done it a few times, it’s pretty easy especially with the right tools
Ludes were my favorite, I had a 94 for over 10 years. How's that doorman harmonic balancer? Mines wobbly a little, looking to replace
Mine wobbles pretty considerably, and I have a lot of engine vibration at idle. Definitely looking at this for a fix
if you can see cracks on the harmonic balancer, its a good idea to go ahead and replace it. Onto of that, I replaced my engine mounts and it got rid of all the cabin rattling
@@Rawrkee doesn’t look cracked, the belts also look good. I did notice the idle vibrations get worse with the AC on.
I have a 97 lude and the harmonic balancer broke as well, I'm having troubles getting it off. The balancer won't slide off past the body? Any suggestions?
you'll have to support the engine with a jack, remove the driver side engine mount and then you can lower the engine low enough to remove the harmonic balancer
good shit man!
u think you can do a QA on your time in the pen? would be very interesting. thank you man
Thanks bro!!! 🤔🤔🤔 maybe someday if I ever get on a podcast ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ haha
This just happened to me On my way to work this morning on my b18. I tried to tighten it up. It gets tight then goes back to loose the more I tighten. Are the grooves fucked and I should get a new motor or should I replace the pulley??
When I bought my lude. The prop rod was already in that position. Lol
🤯🤯🤯 did you drive it home like that? 😆
Love the content bro.
Thanks bro! Preciate the feedback!
Do you have a link for the dorman harmonic pulley please?
hey bro i seen u in dallas dont you stay by the collony and the one with the red lude with white rims i seen u last time
Yeah bro, I stay in the colony but nah, that’s not me. I think I’ve seen that other red prelude with white wheels too, I’ve seen him 2 or 3 times now around here. Never got a chance to run by him in mine 😆
I need to get a harmonic balancer for my 99 prelude but everywhere I go they say the part can’t be ordered or found I need help 😅
@@thomasbuddy7088 try reaching out to extremeprelude.com, they’ll have everything specific for the 5th gen
Did you ever fix this bro!?
Yuppppp, it’s better now
@@Rawrkee what’d you end up doing to fix it? I know you replaced the pulley but it was still wobbling. I replaced mine but still have the wobble 😮💨
hey bro if you have the time in the future could you do a vid on how to take off the power steering belt and alternator belt i needa change mine and got no clue how to
I have a couple of old videos posted on RUclips already but maybe someday I’ll do an updated version 🤔🤔🤔
Where did u buy that harmonic balancer from? Got a misaligned balancer on mine and trying to replace it
I just grabbed a dorman hb from advanced auto. Got it with the 20% off coupon for $50
I have a 5th gen, and when im at idle and throw it into 1st, if im below 2k rpm my whole car violently shakesss😢
What was your final solution for this im having the same issue with a F23A1 1999 Accord
Use original Honda crankshaft pulley. No rubbings and fits perfect
sometimes depending on the rubber insert when molded into the pulley and wear and tear of the rubber cracking or breaking down over miles the edge while turning with engine looks wobly, if its real bad the belt tensioner with move back and forth about 1/8 inch while running engine and cause slight vibrations, if the crank pulley bolt loosens and starts to move from crank youll usually hear lots of chirping squeking from drive belt, honda factory since the 1980s has used loctite on the factory crank bolt, you should use blue loctite on your new one, if it ever loosens up while running itll buy time from the bolt unscrewing itself and self destructing as the chirping and noises start up. nice cars.
Thanks bro!! Mannn, isn’t it super hard to break loose loctite? I’ve never used it but I’ve pulled my harmonic balancer off quite a few times now and haven’t had any issues with the bolt getting loose… at least, not that I know of 😆 maybe I should check the torque specs every oil change ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@Rawrkee blue color loctite, it can always be removed, its medium strength, no heating with torch needed, red color is highstrength, usually needs heat and very strong impact wrench, but honda does use red from factory, usually very had to breakfree when oem new. more power more tight crankbolt, yes i would check it if your modifying any engine from oem. good day
Had this happen to me, but it fell off completely and as soon as it fell off, the engine started running like complete garbage and backfiring like crazy
The new motor is for the civic ??
It could go in the civic or prelude ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
My protege5 has the same issue, finna fix it soon
Doorman lifetime warranty means you'll be spending your lifetime replacing the part.
💀💀💀💀💀
Is driving with a wobbly one bad 😅? Mines is hella wobbly and it’s sort of expensive at the auto parts store like 270ish
shoot, get it replaced sooner than later. I think I got mine on amazon for like $140, same brand 😂 you can also check rockauto.com
@@Rawrkee got it on Amazon for 183 dorman brand didn’t know Amazon had it cheaper 🥲
@@Rawrkee i mean eBay not Amazon
K24a block with ur z3 head has to be
👀👀👀👀 that sounds spicyyyyy 🔥
My harmonic balancer wobbles way worse than that brotha
I have the samee problem dudee
AHh mann, get it replaced as soon as posssible!
Acura TL typeS motor j32
Dengggg, doesn’t sound like a bad option 🤔🤔🤔 idk how I’d get it to fit in the civic tho 😆
Jseries for the lude
Ahhh sheiiit, I think you’re on to something 😆
Dude 😂
Yooooo
Wussup bro!?
