Nice! Just replaced this on my 2001 VW Beetle. BTW (Tip maybe?) my engine was cold and I removed the coolant tank cap but put it back on before proceeding. I didn't want to spill a lot of coolant so hopefully w/o air coming in from the other side it wouldn't come out so fast. My wire tab was toward the engine and hard to get at with a screwdriver so I opted to pull the clip and sensor out first while still on the wires. The old gasket was fine and remained on the sensor. I was ready with the new one and only lost about 2 Tbsp of coolant. Also I had rags under it to catch what fell. The hardest part for me was getting the air tubes out of the way in order to access the sensor. Thanks for the helpful video.
Very good!!! You kept it short and concise. You need to do more videos and more cars. I don't know about other people but I hate lengthy videos. Your video was right on the mark and we did not need to hear about other irrelevant things
Short/ to the point/excellent camera shots..no b.s. for45 min, listening to some dumb ass who has never worked on a car before..good job..hope for more videos of your work
Would you need to bleed the air from the system as well? I took mine out to test it first and it was screwed so ordered a new one, now awaiting replacement, I did lose a fair bit of fluid, I took the cap off but I didn't put it back on, rag or towel (why didn't I think of that?) to soak up what came out, the coolant container/tank more or less emptied, I'll chuck some water down there tomorrow to dilute it all down, I guess there is still quite a bit of coolant left in the system so OK to leave it out for a few days (prob put the old one back in until the new one comes, block up the hole, I wanted to test it on the Multi Meter first, and I'm OL on pins C and D when it should be 1500 to 2500 ohms and also 850 - 1000 ohms on pins A and B so I know it's a goner just based on that, good video
If you drive around beforehand for 10 minutes or so and then when you relieve the pressure of the reservoir screw the cap back on and leave it for another 5 minutes you will get suction within the coolant system instead and loose little to no coolant at all when you pull the sensor.
How do you know the sensor is bad in the first place. ? We had the resovior replaced bexause hose to it broke but temp light is going on and coolant level is fine
I am still leaking it bubbles out from under the sensor why????? I didn’t really feel it op into place I tried several times could this maybe need flushed..... I do have heater core bypassed. I have had several things replaced including radiator...... I’m trying I fix it myself NOW Can’t afford repairs please help
can you share the wiring . ive had a hard time finding the g62 coolant sensor diagram . its violet brown and white and brown and red and solid red . but im not able to find which one belongs in which pin. its a b c d . if you could just shara a quick vid . that would help a tons . ive been able to narrow it down to less than 16 possibilites with this vid. but still need a better glimpse where does the red belong . im sure now its nex to violet at the bottom but not able to tell where the oval part goes
I own a 2014 Volswagen Jetta tdi 2.0 and the temperature light came on and a white smoke came out of the exhaust so I turned of the engine . What you think happened?
Hey nice video. My car looks exactly the same under the hood but the sensor is different where you pointed. There is a blue, square sensor there. Is it the same one?
@@blakevaughn8237 Thank you for the reply friend. Yes I got it resolved but I couldn't have put the green one there because the connector was different for it as well. Luckily the car shop had a blue one and it made my car run SO much better. Amazing to think that this small thing does so much for the vehicle.
@@Frang14998 I just started working on cars and you are so right. I never knew about electrical so when I found out a tiny fuse would solve all of my cars interior malfunctions I was mind blown
My car just show up the check engine when i turn on the AC, and start like lose power and just the battery die, do you think, that sensor could be the reason ?
Hello, this is the G62 sensor, but I have g2 sensor failed, that for the instruments panel. Is it separate from this one? does anybody knows where is G2 sensor?
If the engine is a 2.0L yes, it should be the same. The only difference is the fuel it runs off of, which does not affect the cooling system design of the engine for the 2.0L.
Thankyou so much . I appreciate you keeping the community rolling forward .
Simple and to the point man. Good video. My style too, no funnel just get it in there haha

I did this too and lost no coolant at all.

Nice vid, thanks for the help. 80% of my Golfs parts are from the local scrap yard so I’m prob gonna go find the sensor there👌
After removing the blue cap to relieve any pressure I would put it back. You might lose less coolant that way.
creates vacuum
It can create air bubbles if you leave it on.

Hopefully won't have to replace the sensor again but if I do I will give that a try.

Thanks for the insight i gotta do this for my mk4 gti and this helped
Excellent, thanks for the help!
Just drove 18 hours on a red blonking coolant light with zero symptoms of overheating. I'm assuming this is because the sensor right?
doing this today thank you n wish me luck
I have 2009 VW Jetta 2.0 woman bit afraid of messing up the nails thx u
Thank you. Any idea what to do for a po343 on a 2004 Golf?

My sensor won’t sit tight tho ??? nice video thx pretty simple and smart keep it up
same, did you ever figure this out?

Idk if you have got it resolved but you have the old style. The green is updated and works vetter

Nice video very helpful
Good video thanks man!
My vw bora 2002 coolant fan not works, what may is the problem?
Will i have to burp the air ?
Good video.
Can u show EXACTLY !! how to remove the connector wire mine does not just magically! come off like yours ...no one show how to remove the CONNECTOR !!
There’s a speed sensor down where you poured that water?!?!? I don’t think that was a good idea
the jug said distilled water which is safe to use on electronics as long as you don't immediately turn them on
What happens if you drive in heavy rain and water puddles?
My car just show up the check engine when i turn on the AC, and start like lose power and just the battery die, do you think, that sensor could be the reason ?
That sounds more like an electrical issue then a coolant issue, im thinking most likely a bad alternator

Is that the thermostat right below the temp sensor?
it is, and?
As the coolant runs straight down into the timing hole cover thats gone. Right into the transmission.. 🤦♂️
Code P0172 on mk4. Ideas?
¡I hope this works for a 2016 VW Jetta!
Would it be the same for an 03 TDI?

All my parts come from rockauto.
Where is it located at on mk6 Jetta I can’t find it
That I do not know Jacob S, I would search around the web/forums for more information on that.
