jay leno manages to be cool for his entire life
uh no.. just a rich dude who spends his money on cool things..
No one with that much denim is cool
mabamabam you've never had a nasty night with a beautiful woman. It's obvious.
Torpedomtb most rich guys don't spend money. They invest money on cars that will gain value over the years.
Jay Leno is cool simply because he enjoys all of his cars and bikes. He buys them because he is a true petrolhead, uses them, have fun with them and doesn't care about the depreciation
Well, having some cash lets you manage a few things in life.
8 minutes Per Gallon, replace odometer with Alarm clock. Nice bike. Thanks for the great video.
I wonder how much fuel consumption changes with speed? Jets tend to be most efficient at relatively high/constant throttle settings, so it may actually be most efficient when annihilating the speed limit.
@MultiSweeney1 suited for the autobahn
I've seen this bike is person and talked to Jay about it at The Rock Store many years ago. What he didn't tell you is that in the twisting mountain roads of California, you can literally hear this bike coming from about a mile away, as the sound of the jet engine echos off the canyon walls. I vividly recall hearing the low rumble of countless motorcycles, then suddenly this high-pitched "whoosh" that made everyone look up the road saying, "What the hell _is_ that noise?"
Luthorville: Building an Off-Grid Mojave Tiny House he seldom goes up there anymore like before. Very cool guy man. Not me. Hollywood at all. Thanks for sharing your story btw
I met him at the same spot (possibly on the same day). I also remember hearing that jet sound before he arrived and after he left! I also vividly remember him asking everyone to keep their distance before firing it up so nobody would get burned.
This is probably how Jay dries his hair after a shower.
Or Boris Johnson. 😅
Coolest start-up sound. Needs to be in a superhero movie.
watch Torque ;)
Agreed, watch torque
Cringe.
@@ROmaniac21 yes yes Torque! I'm glad that someone still remembered that movie, it is "The Fast and The Furious" but with bikes, this bike can destroy the whole city street!
Reeves' Batman basically did this with the Batmobile. >:)
Ninja H2 is shaking!
I don't ride bikes but that is something I could use to look at a lot!
neither does he; look at the brand new tires
Real life Batbike!
Still my favourite bike ever. Got my leg roasted by one at Goodwood a few years back.
Heey, you're here. I'm a sub btw.
Jαѕσи Tσdd Haha, hey bud 😄
awww! hunnie roast!
I still remember the interview you did, talking about this bike, when the guy behind you was so interested in what you were riding got too close and melted his front bumper. I never get tired of your collection and love for it.
That jet engine sound on a bike will definitely drives you crazy 😍
Still love the story about him melting the bumper of a Lexus that pulled up behind that bike in traffic!
I think it was a Nissan, I wanna say Altima or Maxima, but a great story none the less.
it was a civic
Some Dude definitely wasn't a honda, unless he's told this story multiple times and can't remember himself/others are telling it and changing the car make.
I'm not gonna go rewatch his original episode for the 4th time. I'm just gonna say I think he said it was some honda
Ahh see I heard the story on top gear, and im quite sure he mentioned Nissan there....possibility Lexus though.
"you know you shouldn't be there but, by golly, it's a lot of fun." Jay overflowing with wisdom again.
This is basically the dream of a 8 year old boy brought to life!! It also proves that it doesn’t matter how old you get, everyone is still a kid at ❤️
Jay Leno, an American treasure.
Paul
I 2'nd that.
What? Only 2 minutes of footage?? What happened, did you run out of fuel or something? I want to see an in-depth review of this thing!
this is kinda a rerun. look up the original episode for a better review
He only had 2 gallons in the tank
Yes!! I've been waiting to see more of this bike. I remember that in the previous video (maybe on your channel?) there was a mention of a Nissan behind the bike at a traffic light; as the light turned green, the Nissan began to melt. Thank you Mr. Leno.
Ladies and Gentleman their are no seat belts, prepare for takeoff.
ZOOM
As an airline pilot, I want to know a few things
Does it hot/wet start?
How much fuel does it hold?
Tell me all about that transmission haha
Two speed automatic. It just have a torque converter. BTW, its not technically a jetbike. No jet propulsion in effect here.
9 U.S gallons fuel capacity
On startup the EGT reaches ~1500-1550 degrees Fahrenheit
Jay used to bring this to our Sunday Morning cars and coffee meets now and then . A real head turner for sure.
It's not a jet (turbojet) engine, it's a turboshaft engine. A jet engine produces thrust, this produces torque. Instead of the exhaust going through a nozzle and producing thrust, it drives a power turbine attached to an output shaft instead.
I'd seriously enjoy it IF Leno, *_you'd_* have your own comedy-talk-reality show on Comedy Central! This online / cable / RUclips one IS pretty good though.
I remember when he picked this bike up !!! sick Jay glad you still have it .!!
Finally, a video of the jet bike where it isn't just standing still!
Jay you are the man... I would love to get a tour of your garage it must be epic!!!!
Jay, you're on the edge of insanity !! I love it !!!!
Jay is for sure a hot shirt. Love his garage. He has the coolest stuff if I could do it's been my dream garage
Does it have a bumper to bumper warranty?
Axel Keller the real question is can you come up with an original joke
No, but life long warranty on the turbine. Although your life might not last that terribly long on that monster.
It doesn't but it has more quirks than you can shake a stick at.
Axel Keller Without bumpers, I doubt it.
Donald J. Trump THE STRONGEST LEADER OF THE WEST W awarded
Oh Jay bless you and your self deprecating ways!
I think the funny thing is that this bike gets its maximum fuel economy at its top speed of 237 mph. And at those speeds its more fuel efficient than any car that can reach those speeds, like the Bugatti Veyron which guzzles 1.4 gallons per minute at 268 mph. While the MTT Y2K gets 4 mpg in the city and 17 mpg on the highway, it likely achieves somewhere in the ballpark of 25 mpg at 240 mph as my best guess (the new model reaches 250 I recall), since with any jet engine without thermal regenerators (unlike the Chrysler Turbine) they are most efficient at really high speed as you waste less and less heat the higher the rpm of the output turbine and the higher the load (thanks aerodynamic drag). Its really too bad that a street legal motorbike has no real purpose going anything over 100 mph to 120 at the most, but at least MTT can truly say that the Y2K is the best and most fuel efficient motorbike at what it does, which is going really fast.
For comparison, the Kawasaki Ninja H2R can get roughly 32 mpg highway. Its got dismal fuel economy compared to other bikes since its top speed is 240 mph and its made for high speed and high power, not long range. The Y2K drops into the same "superbike" or maybe "hyperbike" class. If the Ninja H2R gets 32 mpg at 60 mph, then calculating that out with a quadrupling in air resistance for every doubling in speed (aka 4x speed experiences 16x air resistance since its a square function) the Ninja H2R only achieves a measly 8 mpg, or 1 gallon every 2 minutes compared to the 1 gallon per 8 minutes that the Y2K engine guzzles at any speed. The H2R is 1.8 GPH at highway and 30 GPH at top speed, while the Y2K is 7.5 GPH at highway and around the same 7.5 GPH at top speed, maybe 8 or 9 in a less perfect environment.
these are made by a guy in my town, he usually drove one to the gumbo cookoff. but he does have a new one built called the MTT 420R check it out ,
I actually met Jay at The Rock Store in Malibu Canyon one day when he pulled up on this bike! It was awesome! He and I actually spoke for about a minute or so before he had to leave. Super cool guy and baaaadddaaaasss bike!
Need a full review on bike. Its amazing Jay.
sick bike I loved good stuff Jay.
J & b you are all the best thanks for posting
I love the sound of this bike especially at start up... Jay please show the Arial Square four.
Take her to the salt flats!
This was too short but there are other videos of it..........it's amazing that it is legal for the roads !
The factoids are a great addition.
Leno has gone so far as to ride it to Supercar Sunday. You can hear the thing from a half mile away as he pulls in.
So glorious
Factoids seemed pretty useless to me. The Brembo one was just a lame advertisement
I did however have a 1970's 2 stroke that left an equal size smoke trail, & never had to worry about tailgaters.!
That bike sounds like the 1966 Batmobile on TV. Go, Jay! X)
That is the best thing I've seen all week
Insane!! Jay you are officially mad.
I love it!!!! That's awesome Jay!!!!!
Wicked, but cool as hell! Just firing it up worths the expense, I guess. Imagine those unaware of this bike's existence waiting for a regular bike's engine starting sound and then... priceless. Wait, why's this video so damn small?... I mean, short?... I mean... just forget about that one.
This is the only thing ive ever needed
Love the sound.
The last line was the best! Hahahahaha!
Nice (INSANE) bike, but the saddle looked like it could be better
That sound is awesome
this is the coolest thing that i ever seen
Beautiful superbike
Omg that sounds amazing.
How cool is that start up !
I’ve seen Jay on this bike at the Rock Store in the Malibu mountains about 15 years ago prob. Give or take a few years. Ran into him there a couple times actually back then but he had this bike out once. The delay time to speed up or slow down quickly makes it so scary to me to even ride it.
Jay leno is friggin awesome
UNNECESSARY AWESOMENESS
OH YEAH, Baby. It would be exciting to take this jet bike for a spin.
Everyone goes a bit crazy ..the difference is Jay has the toys to calm himself. he's a nice man.
I like the annotations. actually I love the annotations
Sound alone.... definitely Superhero 👍❣️🚩
that bike is an absolute dream.
That's the most badass thing I've ever seen, that sound, I'm in love
That's ridiculous! I need one!
Talk about scaring yourself! That's the thing you need. Ever seen the Jet Vette? Jay, if it is ever possible, I'd like to see a feature on this turbine powered 1978 Corvette someday!
Awesum cheers jay just got kids to bed and this is an nice little reward
Oh I'm in nz and 8.30pm on Monday 😀
I agree great commentary!
Jay we need an in depth look at this bike. I have no idea how this could work I need to see every bolt!
Jay you crack me up!
Sweet sound! Let's fly with my bike!😄😄 I want one! 👌👍
I love it when he makes a review on motorcycles!! but this review was tooooo short!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Jay, dont you think its time you do full video of this bike? I think you did one before but in HD would be nice. lol
Wow that is just.. wow
Next level indeed
Was hoping the exhaust would come out the back of the seat like it looks like it should; would look more jet fighter-like.
Mixtape Dropper
I'm guessing you've never ridden a bike with an underseat exhaust, then?
Because it sucks enough dealing with the heat put off by your standard twin, and those don't get this hot.
Would be great for depainting cars directly behind it.
That's just flat out scary!
Jay is AWEsOme!
Sounds freekin sweet!!!!!
Love that start up sound!
we love you Jay
1:58 my high-school senior year pretty much
That thing IS the Bat-Cycle come to life
Favorite of his I like to watch
Leno is a savage!
Jay leno for next president
That's insane
"The sound signature is unlike anything else on wheels."
nice video of the motorcycle. man talk about fast!
Pure awesome
lol , just remember the previous Y2K video , when the car guy get tooo close and his front bumper melted XD , hilarious
Very cool Jay......
A short video brought me here...wonder if Leno got the newer version
WOW, THAT IS THE COOLEST SOUNDING BIKE EVER!!!........ Me yelling over the exhaust noise....
Man, I'd love to try that.
Very Exotic Bike Jay....😎
Still, an awesome bike!!
Jay, you "pre-showed" a STEAM motorcycle couple years ago (with Dennis Gage) and said you will show it in another episode, but there's no updates about steam vehicles for years... It's very sad, very interesting motorcycle
Jay Leno, just making jokes, everyday. 😅😂
That's badass
Yeah ! I want one !
With the jet engine, does the rear wheel propel the bike or does the exhaust?
did they raise your life Insurance premiums or even cancel the policy after posting the video. jay u the man would love 1 day on the interstate with that bike
