@jay dubbs Umm, technique is NOT the same with different styles. An opera singer uses a different technique than a pop singer, whose technique is different than a rock singer. They all use techniques to achieve a certain sound.

Honestly, even Beyoncé is pretty Broadway/musical theatre. I don't think she's classically trained because she hasn't displayed the ability to sing proper operatic material, at least not in live performances. No! No! No! I totally disagree. You cannot compare different genres like this especially not only based on pitch and tone; music is contextual. Certain genres have different characteristics. I'm a saxophonist and from my jazz experience, I can tell you that one of the jazz main characteristics of jazz is to be a tad flat on purpose to add to the texture of the music. Stefani is clearly aware as she does it. In studio session she makes a big emphasis of it. I think it deserves a rematch.

The thing is that there are so much more moments where you can pick up Beyonces best moments because she has so much ballads and Lady Gaga makes electronic music. Almost all examples from Gaga are from the performances with Tony Benett because of the one jazz album + some unplugged piano performances. While Beyonces pop material strongly is concentrated also on ballads where she just sings - there is no piano, no electronic music - just her voice through her entire discography. Both are great singers. I hope Gaga will make a soul and ballad album next time.

Ok Beyonce's point 5 was unfair. Lady Gaga was doing a strait note and B was going up and down/doing vibrato. B really didn't actually technically hit the note she flirted with it. Because she is a certain type of black woman she has a resonance with deeper notes that gives people the impression she is confident, and there's science stuff but it's a bit awkward to just say randomly. Vibrato gives the impression of more technicality but can be a crutch or a bad habit. Something a singer literally can't stop doing. You hear it in church choirs with the older generation, they literally can't or won't stop. I think it's more a health issue, like the part of your brain that controls direction is breaking down or not developed properly.

I would say Gaga is only better when it comes to Broadway and probably equal when it comes to Pop.

Versatility is about being able to change the texture of one's voice to fit different genres, not about how many genres you can sing. Beyoncé is the more versatile singer/vocalist because she is able to change the texture of her voice to fit different genres, something which Gaga does not do as well as Bey because she was not trained in that way.
Lot of these vocal battles are different voice types and ranges pitted against eachother. I wish people understood more about the voice so they can put similar singers together to battle.
They actually have very similar ranges and voice types. Beyoncé just happens to have better technique and more agility so she is able to move through the different parts of her range very easily.

Gaga is one of the few artist that can sang live while dancing too and she has impressive vocals. Beyoncé has piano ballads and a few electro-pop-dance songs too like Haunted/Sweet dreams etc it’s not about the genre of music they make as any song can be re-arranged for the appropriate setting.

Not a fan of either’s music but facts are facts. I think this is quite insulting to Beyoncé. Her voice, technically, is unmatched from what I’ve heard. She’s in the league of Whitney and Celine. Lady Gaga is a good singer but you just can’t compare her to a vocalist like Beyoncé.

Ok Beyonce's point 5 was unfair. Lady Gaga was doing a strait note and B was going up and down/doing vibrato. B really didn't actually technically hit the note she flirted with it.
Because she is a certain type of black woman she has a resonance with deeper notes that gives people the impression she is confident, and there's science stuff but it's a bit awkward to just say randomly.
Vibrato gives the impression of more technicality but can be a crutch or a bad habit. Something a singer literally can't stop doing.
You hear it in church choirs with the older generation, they literally can't or won't stop.
I think it's more a health issue, like the part of your brain that controls direction is breaking down or not developed properly.
for me beyonce just has a little more texture & i prefer her tone!
Who in their right mind would ever think Gaga has better vocals, ESPECIALLY technique than Beyoncé? Seen both live at Coachella (2017 & 2018) both were awesome but Beyoncé’s runs are next level.

I think Gaga wins in terms of versatility. She can do jazz, opera, country, pop, hip hop, and metal rock. Lady Gaga wins in my opinion. It’s not always about range, it’s about ability.
Beyonce can do country, jazz, opera, rnb, hiphop, rock, pop etc. She is very versatile too
Gaga can't do hip hop, and beyonce is much better at soul, gospel, r and b, opera, country, pop, and rock. Beyonce also can do rap (even if she doesn't necessarily write her raps) and staccato singing. Refer to Don't hurt yourself for rock, and for the background for her music video Flawless for opera, Daddy lessons for country, and I'd Rather Be Blind for Soul. I would even argue Jazz for Beyonce. I would say Gaga is only better when it comes to Broadway and probably equal when it comes to Pop.
Also Beyonce has done more funk, reggae and dancehall inspired music too with ease as well

Beyoncé has covered all of those genres and more. And your conception of versatility is very misleading. Versatility is about being able to change the texture of one's voice to fit different genres, not about how many genres you can sing. Beyoncé is the more versatile singer/vocalist because she is able to change the texture of her voice to fit different genres, something which Gaga does not do as well as Bey because she was not trained in that way.
These are both wonderfully talented women. No comparison there.

Lot of these vocal battles are different voice types and ranges pitted against eachother. I wish people understood more about the voice so they can put similar singers together to battle.

They actually have very similar ranges and voice types. Beyoncé just happens to have better technique and more agility so she is able to move through the different parts of her range very easily.
I love Lady Gaga for everything she does she is a really good vocalist but I must admit that Beyoncé is an even better vocalist (and a better dancer too)

I'm a fan of Gaga and I'm a beyhive too. Obviously Beyonce without a single doubt but i wanna talk about Lady Gaga. Gaga is one of the few artist that can sang live while dancing too and she has impressive vocals. I really think Beyonce and Lady Gaga is the only two Pop icons that can sing and dance, and can put a huge production in their shows!

Excuse my English. The reason why she always needs a fan on stage is that if you watch her performances back in the days she was always sweaty after a few minutes. The lights on stage get really hot after a while. I've been on a stage with so many lightings before and I felt like I was melting LOL
