+Got Game i've not driven the xDrive 5 series so can't comment. But my amateur driving skills will most probably prefer the 4wd setup. Nevertheless if its about G30 vs F10, by means of chassis and how the car's engineered, the G30 is unbelievably quiet and more pliant while having a great agile body control when pushed

The lag you mentioned is more noticeable with the F30 330i. Didn't really notice it as much in the 530i.

I've been watching your RUclips vidoes for a while now. Only chanced upon your channel recently. I'd like to commend you on a very comprehensive review (as with all your other reviews) - unbiased, objective & I like the fact that you highlight details & small nuances such as the trim, gear knobs (in your other reviews), of course, one man's meat is another man's poison.
Please keep up the good work. I own a G30 myself being the first Continental car I bought myself, and I love the drive everytime I get into the car.

PS You mentioned there was "lag" even when you were in Sports Mode. I see you did not engage Sports Shift. I believe Sports Shift (i.e. shifting the Gear knob to the left -> Sports) will undoubtedly sharpen the response of the ZF. Sports Mode alone should only affect the suspension & handling & steering.
Also, how can this M-Performance version cost only RM10K more than the STD version? Does BMW offer this version?
Thanks for pointing that out. I wished I knew about it earlier, cos i was surprised the Sport Plus mode was gone - was in every BMW previously. The M Performance package is an offer with only RM10k more than the regular M Sport, yeah it's available.

I do feel that the Sports Shift gear mode is great - when you have a straight run, there is that "back-fire" on every upshift. And it holds the gears one less vs D mode.
Hmm... I've got to call BMW - I am wondering if they will offer the M-Performance Kit to owners who got their rides earlier.

+Surfin' Bird Trashmen it's that good tbh. Small ergonomic flaws in certain areas but its ok. As a car reviewer we like to see car makers trying, pushing boundaries. Volvo had to buy someone's patent just for the aircond vents alone. Put it this way, Volvo stretched 100% of their engineering capacith to make the new S90 whereas BMW probably only used 70% while reserving the rest for their facelifts.

I have to agree on the throttle response. Just test drove a 530i recently and I felt the half/one second lag to kickdown. I also felt the same response on the new G20 330i, lagging on the kickdown. Especially when compared to an entry level F32 420d.
Satin chrome buttons for the aircon buttons and window switches is an optional extra on the G30. BMW calls the option "Galvanic Embellisher for controls
". Also, you couldn't find a wireless charging place because that is also an optional extra.
Good review Bobby. How would you rate the car with 19" and 20"" rims? I feel the 19" should be less noisy and soft.

Hi bobby, nice review. If you don’t mind, maybe go through the safety features a bit. I’m always disappointed with malaysia spec always take away the nice features, I saw some button like lane keep or adaptive cruise control on it. Nice add on for Bmw cars 🤗, keep up the good work.

Honestly speaking its awesome how as a common man i get all the questions that I have ever wanted in a car reweiw.
The questions regarding quality of materials, the fit and finish, the comfort levels, the power and driving feel. How it compares to the other segments. Etc etc.
Who else in the world would compare the comfort levels of a BMW 5 series to a camry. Its nuts when u actually think about it. But it's what we want as a common man. Does it feel as comfortable as a camry??? Butter smooth... I mean cut the shit... every one wants a comfortable ride...
I have a jaguar xe and when I saw the review of bobby ang about how bad the quality of interiors of an xe is... and how he and his generation expects a jaguar should be I really felt I have found a car reviewer who is honest with his business.
For the record I bought the xe at a very discounted price from the showroom although I felt the same disappointment when I saw it first. But hey its a jaguar and who dosent want it when they offer a
30 percent discount??? Should I be hanged for being tempted????

Thanks for your comments! I fell in love with the XE when i drove it. The handling is just so well judged! But alas, too many flaws. Nevertheless, i just hope Jaguar has the same interior expectations as Land Rover. Land Rover interiors are superbly well built! Take care!

Hi Bobby, can you do a review on how is it like to own old BMWs? I notice quite a few ppl buy old BMWs over 7 or 10 yrs old and drive them
And BMW really needs softer leather in between Dakota and Nappa. Cos the Dakota is not very soft for a car costing almost RM400k. I find the leather in the Honda Civic is much softer than Dakota. The Nappa is being reserved by BMW Malaysia for higher end 7 Series. Time to give it to lower end models i think.

the throttle response for both pick up and accelerate can be overcome by adding a volt rectifier device for the B48 engine, i have installed on mine and it works to reduce not just the lag but helps on other electronic parts
you can go into manual mode and probably it will resolve the lag problem .....or so i think :))
i will do it sometimes and i will need the immediate response. thats what we love about bmw. if we don't want power, might as well go get a peroduo axia, save fuel and cost. don't understand why bmw delay the throttle response

That krak krak sound on the cup holder is maybe for a smaller cup. So the cup could be fit in tightly. Just the phone holder spring.

I prefer the front end of this g30 because it looks leaner n sharper compared to the bulbous,bland n tall front end of the f10..plus the hood line settles at the correct place on the g30 hehe...the g30's design almost harks back to the lean designs of the e39.

Adli zari does the g30 have better handling? I mean u could add the m sport and the dynamics change between the f10 and g30. I own a 2013 f10 the handling is sharp is sport. I wanted a luxury car that’s comfortable so the 2013 f10 was perfect

I prefer facelift F10 due to the strong presence on the front compared to G30. I will buy F10 in the future.

The way the headlamps connect to the front grill looks weird in my opinion. Looks like a bulky 7 series..
The lag is quite apparent in petrol models, but the diesel counterpart 530d has near no lag in my personal experience. Maybe the huge torque boost in the diesel models take care of it.
Yup, you said it quite correctly. A 530D is faster to 0-100 , 100-200 & 200-250 than A6 50 Tdi. Although Audi has more horsepower. The ZF 8 Speed helps 530D put it power down better than Audi.

I missed my F10 528i..The Sport mode is really 320hp missile ( factory setup) unlike the G30 530i Sport mode really disappointed..🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️

bobby, do you have alot problem with the bmw's engine or something like that that need to be fixed after driving it for 4 or 5 years?
no issues so far. but when 100k km comes or 85k km and above, steering rack will have sound and should cost rm10k to change if cannot tahan the sound. adaptive dampers might go as well after 100k km. and they should cost about rm10k plus full set - again ... if you cannot tahan ....

The E Class interior looks funny with too much disco amber lights and the 2 iPad clusters.. I still preferred BMW cluster with little feel on digital.. It's good enough..
some people like BMW some people like Mercedes, so very difficult to said which one better, but same with u I also preferred BMW cluster with little feel on digital, because I got BMW
its even more funny when u compare the built and material quality. Merc still got hard plastic and the leather or stiching panel doesn't feel soft enough. Even the interior panel also got squeaking noise if pressed especially the trim pieces.
Also the funny thing is all mercedes gear shifter located at the side of steering even for AMG cars. It remind me to MPV and heavy vehicles gear shifter.
Faiz Arshad.. Only few amg models the gear still remained the same position.. Eg. AMG A45 n etc.. Mercedes force the buyer to accept and follow..
ViNCENiO VL but a45, cla45, gla45 is older model. Current e class, c class, cls is newer. So new a45 not impossible if the gear shifter at the same position like other models.

I know there are 20 over units of 540i running around KL. The owners ordered from BMW Malaysia specially and paid RM600k for them

Heard that if one air spring is damage it cost 30k to repair after warranty. Better not take chances and better buy the G30 or S90.

ps. There is always a turbo lag on every single turbo car. Some gets long, some gets short amount of time waiting before you feel the torque, but it is there. :)

Hi Bobby, about the acceleration's respond, if you want the full sporty driving
i suggest you to push the stick to the left and then transmission will go into the "Full Sport"
(now you will notice the "S" on the speedo instead of 'D") and this setting will make the transmission
act most aggressive in overall, this will help the acceleration's respond a bit better
you can use this setting with all BMW nowaday, they are all the same

So Bobby, why do Malaysians like black interiors so much? Is it driven by customer demand or BMW pushing out options? It’s difficult to find light interiors. Cognac seems to be the only option on G30s that is ‘light’?

G20 looks more modern inside. Interior of this car and the X3 looks like an old generation compare to the G20 and the new X5.

Bobby ang why did bmw 5 series and E class doesn't have a spacious leg room. Even a camry and accord got a very spacious leg room. Used to have an accord and camry. Both got spacious leg room.
The A pillar of conti cars tends to starts at least 1ft behind the front wheels. This makes conti cars having longer hood that allow longtitude mounting of engine for RWD operation. Yes, no?.

I have an F10 and I don't like the throttle lag at all. Even in sport mode the lag is there. The S90 on the other hand, has lag only in normal mode, but in sport mode the throttle response is instantaneous. BWM uses twin scroll turbo so the lag should be be less, which leads me to think that they deliberately program this lag into the ECU...

Yes it's annoying. Especially when overtaking, you want the car to respond to your input, like immediately. That's the only think I don't like about my F10 (I like the fact that the max torque comes in at 1250 rpm, but the lag just kills it). I don't understand why, in order to protect the gearbox they must do this, I don't mind if the kick down comes slow (protect gearbox), but the throttle response should be instant. Even Myvi doesn't have this throttle lag... 😩

I don't think either S90 or 5 Series is that great looking, since the Kia Stinger came out. Heck, the Kia even makes Porsches look normal. But i do prefer the V90 over thr S90. The V90 is one really good looking wagon. Anyways, don't forget there are a few more cars in this segment, though they are very old already, ie the Lexus GS and Audi A6 (excluding Jag and Porsche as they are rather expensive). I think the GS even the 2.5 litre model sounds great (no 4 cylinder can ever match a 6). Yeah, it is underpowered, but there is the GS350 for more oomph. And that GS has a pretty good balance of ride and handling too. Wondering how it matches up to the newer competition, ie the G30?
+Lagibizar the GS has great handling too. But it cant match the dynamics of the S90 and the G30. Infotainment is poor too.and that fake induction noise is really too much too loud. A6 had tgat great 3.0 supercharged engine that outperforms the bmw but guzzles fuel like mad. Interior build wise cant match these two in materials, cant match the merc or s90 for design as well. Really old now.

In terms of looks department, i would give this to the S90. Why? cause its unique, especially that rear. There are no other cars like that on the road and when one sees the car, they will immediately know . WOW it is a Volvo. The G30 rear looks like a honda city and from a distance it can be mistaken for a 3 series (same as the E class).
