  • Other than the first drive this is my absolute favorite day of the build. It is such a great feeling every time to take a pile of tubes and see what becomes of it. To make it clear, this same chassis will be built two ways, 1st as a hard tail, then with a 4 link or trailing arm suspension. Please comment on your expectations of the setup, and remember this is the budget build.

      I’ve tried it on D but it feels more consistent on C. Probably because it’s only on 110. I’ve driven these karts with them just tacked together so I know they’ll hold. I really hope the 420 is a decent kick in the pants, I hate to have to put two of them on there… or would I???

      @@KJRaycingHey Man, with a cvt it's all in the clutch springs, mostly the drive clutch on the motor. If you create more stall speed with a bigger spring it will make it seem snapper out of the hole but too much will kill your lower speed drive ability. The driven clutch wants to just keep the motor in its power band. And just a heads up... always keep a spare belt and tools to swap it out on the machine. Ask me how I know 🤦‍♂️

      There will have to be some tall person testing to show if the three inches is perfect. I had a buddy that’s 6’4” roll the black one which is tighter than the other two with zero injury. I’ll have him roll this one too and see if it checks out.

    You should make a simple swing arm set up for that kart build package/kit instead of hard tell rear end. It would really make that a bad ass kit.

    • @KJRaycing

    • @KJRaycing

      Those are really handy but the magnets aren’t strong enough to hold actual tubing. They are useful for tabs and lightweight stuff. I have a big one too and it still doesn’t work. There are a lot of neat gizmos out there and it’s hard to sort through for one that works really well.

    Heya,
    I’ve been researching the tools needed for this project. I’de like to get the same welder you have. I looked up the 140HD and it say gas and gasless. In this clip I noticed you have a bottle on the back of your welding rig. Is the gas required?
    Thank you again for everything! I got the parts list and started working on collecting. I’ll end up getting the VF-1 XL Plans as well as the IRS ones shortly.

    • @KJRaycing
      @KJRaycing  Год назад +1

      Well hello! The 140hd has been awesome so far. Out if the box it is flux core, but if I remember right it comes with the regulator to convert it to gas. Just buy a bottle, hook up the regulator and I think you might have to switch polarities, check the manual. The whole process is easy and takes no time at all. You can get good welds with flux core but MIG (gas) makes your welds look very clean. Thank you for joining in on the fun!
