It's simple in the clock tower there is four gears that you have to attack until you hear a click sound and a secret room will open and in that room there is going to be a ton of big enemies with armor and when you kill them they turn into a ghost form of themselves and when you kill them there is a chance you will get the Muramasa@@Psycho-Ssnake

Hah and they named it 'scarecrow', somebody at Konami had a dark sense of humor. There's actually 3 sprites for the scarecrow in SotN, one impaled thru the stomach, one from waist to mouth, and a rare one of a blonde woman.

With the Alucart set and 2 rings of Arcana i got the sword on the 5th try
luck potion, and the ring that increases rare drop and that gold ring from golden skeleton.
You can obtain muramasa very early in the game in the clock tower
