I got a pair and within two weeks the left earbud stopped functioning completely, and I discovered many people have experienced the same issue. While they worked they were a solid 6/10 experience- liked the sound quality and the fit. The buds don't always turn on automatically when the come out of the case, which is annoying. After the break it was an obvious 0/10, I returned them and picked up a pair of AirPods, which I originally wanted.
Noah Slagle that’s good to know about your experience. Both sides still work for now although still have my gripes of them. I just played around with AirPods again this week but my problem with them is still the fitment. Everything else is amazing esp the tech but wish they made more universal-tipped earbuds.
I’ve heard about this but maybe it’s my untrained eyes/ears but I’ve never felt like there was any lag on my part when watching videos via Netflix or RUclips.
I am having this for about a year now. It is a complete waste of money, for me at least. Everything about it is good, the fit, battery life and audio quality. But the upsides are negated by awful connectivity issues. The thing disconnects automatically if there is no input into it for half a minute. Reconnection is not smooth and doesnt always happen. I have connected it to different gadgets of mine, two phones, laptop and ipad. The issue has cropped up in every one of them. I would advise everyone to stay clear of this and go for something more reliable.
Yeah I hear ya (no pun intended lol) and thanks for the feedback. Heard it from another fan as well and hope to make the correction for the next review!
Love this set, just got these less than two weeks ago. Been using them every day, cant get enough of the awesome sounds and they fit my ear perfectly. Not my past experience with other brands.
Great review. Very detailed. A couple of things you covered really helped. Activiating the external sounds which is extraordinary at picking up sound. Also, the function of the loops at the top of the silicon bud covers (GripFit jackets) - I had no idea it was supposed to slide into an ear cartilage groove! This is not explained in the included "User guide", which is almost useless. "Choose GripFit jackets to fit your ears best". "Turn and lock". There is no explanation that the loop slides into/under cartilage. Sometimes they stay in my ears, sometimes they don't. I just found them so 'hit & miss' and therefore irritating. One thing ear buds MUST do is stay in your goddamn ears! I have tried so many variations of the tips and jackets and just given up. I have now retried after your video. I agree that the case is awesome and charging cable is high quality. The big downfall is the audio during calls only comes through the right earbud - WTF??!! I thought mine were dodgy. At least good to know that's a product issue, not an issue with my set only.
I back Anker on all there products so when I found out that they made these I want them I unfortunately missed the Kickstarter. I'm ordering as soon as they are available this review really pleased me because I want these to be great. Thanks for the review I'm subscribed.
I contacted them last week. The return email said not until late February as they are trying to make them the best they can be. Now I know boxes are nice and cute but really just get to how they really work. Cutting out and loss of signal while moving around is the real non starter for me.
Thanks for the update Anthony! Yeah I agree. I've continued to use them and while I haven't experienced any full cutout in awhile, every few days I'll have the left ear disconnect for 2 seconds before reconnecting. Not terrible but not the best experience.
Thanks for the review for zolo , do you fall up with hard workouts , gym or its ok , want to buy them, but worry about their instability, inside the ear
Thanks for the review, I have just got mine in white so far not really played with any of the functions, Just listened. They do sound good straight off the bat I agree a volume control on them would be nice, but not to be. I will post further as I get familiar with them.
I have now been using them for a month, and today I got some dropout which I found strange as they have worked fine with me being downstairs and the i phone upstairs. When I checked my phone it was on 4G and was not recognising the wifi connection. I have just upgraded my phone to IOS 11.2.6. So maybe the 4G connection was the problem. I will continue to try them now the phone is in wifi mode again. I cannot fault them so far no humming sounds through them as I have read in other posts, the case does need a little tap to bring up the lights on the front, but other than that I love them the sound is good base is fine for me a natural sound I would describe that comes from them.
I'm deciding between these. The Samsung Gear icon x and crazy baby air. I am thinking on sitting on it for a minute and waiting for more Bluetooth 5 devices to come out.
Going Awesome Places I’ve been listening to mine for the past day and I’ve got to say they’ve been a pleasant surprise! Tight bass at the regular volumes and very good connectivity out and about, though there were some minor cutouts in the left earbud but they were really minor. Unfortunately there is a delay when watching videos but they weren’t significant, just about 100ms in local playback and about 300ms off RUclips and other streaming services. Battery’s been awesome, haven’t been able to drain them in one sitting yet (studied with them on for a span of about 4 hours+)! Definitely worth the price!
Thanks for the feedback. This is with the Liberty (non +) too right? I'm interested to learn more about the delay though. Is it quite noticeable when you were testing it which is why you noticed or were you looking for it?
From my experience I never noticed any specific lag when watching RUclips videos although I have read reviews from others that have talked about milliseconds of delay?? I don't game though so I never needed that kind of accuracy.
mine stopped pairing and arent even showing up on my blue tooth devices i still cant seem to know how to pair them after 6 months months of using them they stopped pairing and the right pod makes a hallow noise
I'm on the fence about buying the regular Liberty earphones. I know there is a difference between those and the liberty+ but have you noticed any sort of humming when listening to music, i read some reviews that mentioned it. One more, is there any sort of latency issue when watching youtube videos?
Comply Truly Wireless tips work really well with these and fit the case. Never had any issues with dropout on my OnePlus 5T The app needs some work especially an equaliser and battery status The sound quality doesn't match my Shure SE535s with the Bluetooth cable and custom tips, but for totally wireless option they are impressive, sound and fit better than AirPods, and as a bonus they don't look like I have tampon hanging out of my ears
Thank you for your feedback on your experience so far! Great to hear that you have enjoyed it so far. I totally agree that the fit is awesome and one of the big PROs over AirPods :) LOL @ tampons
So what happened was that Anker decided to rebrand Zolo to Soundcore after the Liberty came out. That's why you'll find the Soundcore Liberty Lite but originals are still Zolo Liberty and Liberty+
When you say that you can connect them to several devices like your laptop and your phone, I curious to know what phone and laptop you used or how you did it because I tried with my new liberty + and they would only connect to one of my devices. I have an iphone 6S and a macbook air 2015. Thanks!
That's weird. I just tried to reproduce this and wasn't able to either. At one point I felt like I was able to but once I connect to my MBP, I'm not able to connect to it via the iPhone 8.
Ah so it's not even a matter of my iphone 6S not having bluetooth 5... I would have bought a new iphone with bluetooth 5 just for that feature.. Thanks anyway!
Hey David! Finally got around to testing this for you and you don't need to use both at the same time BUT if you're connecting the earphones via BT to your phone lets say, if you only put the left one in your ear and tap it, it won't pair. You have to use the right one to pair. So in a way you kind of need the right one to do everything. Audio for calls also only comes to the right ear only. One of those quirks of the Zolo Liberty+.
Hay like your vid. The toggling for the outside noise is key. Most of these things I can only wear one at a time most time because I need awareness most of the time. Any thoughts on choices for this? I like the look of the crazybaby air. And seems both the air and there new nano just block the outside. I see the IQbuds also have the ability to hear outside but the reviews are mixed. Anyway I’d love to hear your thoughts. If you have some.
James Forehand Hey! So the transparency feature you’re asking about definitely works on the Zolo+ but what is not as good about it is that the audio quality isn’t high quality. You can hear outside noise and it’s worked great in scenarios where I’m ordering at a coffee shop or something but it sounds like you’re hearing low fidelity audio. It gets the job done but I’m curious about how well the other brands do it. Those I’m not familiar with unfortunately!
Going Awesome Places so I’m a Hearing Instrument Specialist in Las Vegas so I have a bit more interest in the transparency and the augment that some are working on now. So I went and got the Bragi Dash Pro. The transparency is excellent! I can hear others remarkably well and when off I can’t hear anything outside. But since I have normal low frequency hearing the occlusion makes My voice terrible. I can’t wait to try the translation feature which I’ll be using very soon. I suspect like with most it will work well with euro / Latin languages but Asian languages we will have to see. So they are super expensive 329 at bestbuy. But 15 day return no questions. But I took it a step farther. Paid the $80 2 year replacement protection. I set a reminder for 1.7 year from now to return them. Bluetooths never last over a year for me anyway and by then this product will be gone. So I’ll get all of my money back except the $80. Which is about the price for the low end of these things. Jerk move but I just don’t trust Bluetooth enough to spend 329 outright.
I have the liberty+ too and found that playing music directly from my apple watch (1st version) is troublesome. The right earphone can play audio smoothly but the left earphone audio is choppy and it hurt my ear. Anyone has the same issue? Or does anyone have smooth experience playing audio directly from apple watch?
I have the normal liberty, but they have constent white noise in the background playing. Do the liberty plus have the same? this is mostly at low volume, but it's still there and it's annoying as hell
Hey Frederik. I just tried with my Liberty+ and didn't notice this at all. When I don't play any music when paired to my phone, there's no noise. When I listen to music via Spotify and at a very low volume, I don't hear any white noise.
Oh boy, thanks for the quick answer! It's mostly in RUclips i Will notice it. Now i just have to decide between the Liberty+ or the new x-shock. Life is hard
Hey I just tested it AGAIN other than when I experience lag from RUclips itself, when everything's all buffered properly and at high res, I don't see a noticible lag in video to audio with the Liberty Plus.
Hi;I am currently using the sennheiser momentum in-ear earphones and samsung earphones tuned by AKG and I find both of them very comfortable....does this offer similar fitting and does it fall off?how would it go with my s8(running bt 5.0)? And apple airpods are able to change volume via siri..is this able to do so and does it support bixby?
Yes I will say that the Zolo Liberty +'s have been really comfortable in my ear especially since I have the option of using any sort of tips that work well with my ear. Fallback is that if you change to a non-standard tip, it will likely not fit in the case. With the S8, this is fully compatible with BT 5.0 so no problems there. Lastly, I don't believe it supports Bixby and I just did a search now and didn't see any info. Wish I could help here!
Going Awesome Places so I have a gear fit 2,which has 4 gb of on-board storage and I often don't like to carry my phone in my workouts so I would like to bring the earbuds and the watch so the watch would be connected to the earbuds for streaming music while I'm running, but when I'm at home and and want to connect the earbuds to my s8,they will automatically connect to my watch which is really annoying as I have to unpair the earphones when I'm at home from my watch and unpair them from my phone when I'm just leaving the house for running and I'll have to reconnect them which is really time-consuming....is there any way to disconnect a device via the earphones?(like In bose, there is a button on the earbuds which can help you change connection to Upto 7 devices) And since bixby doesn't work, the default assistant is Google home on my phone(according to the zolo life app) but when I double click the earphones, they activate bixby which normally doesn't work... And you said at 14:04 that you can connect multiple devices at the same time is possible and I can't do that...?? Even with my iPad and my phone
Damian de Leon I just double checked this and when you have the phone on silent you don’t get messages but when you’re not on silent you hear all the bells. I asked a friend with AirPods and they act the same way he said.
Going Awesome Places That’s great to hear because I am really considering buying these. One more question, does the noise cancelling really work and if so how is it toggled on the device?
So the noise cancelling isn't an active feature in that there's no specific technology for it. The sound isolation is great because you can use tips that give you a great seal unlike the Airpods. What you may be confused with is Transparency. This is a feature that actually lets outside noise into your headphones since the isolation is so good. I reviewed this and the audio is low quality and for that reason it's not a feature I typically use. To activate it, you hold the button (either ear) for roughly 5 seconds and it'll activate.
@@GoingAwesomePlaces oh i got this, happens :) I have a question for you I just got the this headphones today, and in the saftey information its says that the case needs to be charge in a 1.5 A charger. is it ok if i use a 2 A charger?
I have a Huawei P10 Mate pro and have some problems with connection. It takes forever to get them to connect and when they do it will only last for like 1 min tops before i'm off again. I can't figure out if it's the BT 4,2 on the phone or because of a device issue - any suggestions??
Going Awesome Places yes I have downloaded the app but can't enter it due to the missing connection. It shows the solo liberty + om the phone, what is the name of the other one?? I can connect through my samsung gear s3 but the sound is really low..
When I'm connected I see the two devices: "Zolo Liberty+" and "Z-up" which I figured is the left and right sides. Not sure if that has to do with BT 5.0?
Hey Chad! I hear ya, it's consistent feedback for the video. The weird part is that in post production I didn't feel like it was that overwhelming. I have taken this and definitely reduced background audio for all my future vids!
@@kingbrown6218 I wonder if it is defective if that's the case. No luck at all getting audio to come through the other side? Have you downloaded the Zolo app as part of your pairing process?
LOL I know newbie mistake. I swear it didn't sound like that coming out of Final Cut Pro...but lesson learned for all my future videos. Glad you found it helpful! Hoping to do a comparison of this and the Apple Airpods soon as well :)
At one point I was told they were going to ditch the Zolo brand and consolidate to Soundcore so I titled it for future proofing. Guess it never really happened??
I think they did ditch Zolo, I found this video by searching soundcore liberty since I just bought them and wanted to find more reviews. I thought this video was going to to over both versions lol
@@ohitsmerenz Whoa, just saw it. Weird that they didn't make this announcement to the previous owners of the Liberty+ at all. Anyone have any experience with them?
Go to Amazon there are far better choices then this at a more reasonable price , I'm to lazy to... Wait .... The ones I bought are the hbq-q18 tws for $35 and about the same specs as this .
Very interesting! Just checked them out on Amazon (amzn.to/2KeK6O1) and it looks quite intriguing for the price point. It's not quite BT 5.0 and I'm sure the drivers aren't as good as in the Liberty+. The battery on the Zolo charger might be bigger. But for $35, that's definitely a compelling product! How's the call audio quality and doesit come out of both ears?
I "hear" ya! One of my early review videos and I didn't bring it down enough. I've made the adjustment since then. Wish I could fix it after upload but I can't unfortunately!
You wouldn't be the first to mention it! Wish there a was a way to change it post-publish but I've definitely taken this feedback for my future videos.
Thanks for the feedback! It certainly didn't sound that bad in FCPX but like other viewers that have noted it, I've adjusted it on all my future videos.
What’s with that “ music “ or whatever one wants to call it. It’s distracting , totally counterintuitive in respect to what you’re talking about . Makes NO sense ...
The Airpods are still $10 more and I recently picked them up. Might do a direct comparison later! I think between the two, Airpods definitely have the better tech and just works seamlessly without hiccups. That said, fit is still an issue. You just kind of need to get used to the fact that they're never going to feel tight or give you any sort of sound isolation but for those that are commuting or just want to have some jams while still being able to hear some of the outside world, I think it's awesome. For gym though, it's a no go (Airpods that is) and so that's where I still use my Liberty+. I will also say that the Liberty+ do have better range and overall sound quality over the Airpods (seal being the biggest reasoning and the graphene drivers).
If you were part of the Kickstarter campaign and own the Zolo Liberty+ wireless earbuds, what are your thoughts? Do you agree or disagree with my review? What would you add to it?
Thinking about picking these up? What questions do you have about it?

Piece of advice. If people notice your background music it's either too loud or in poor taste. In this case it's too loud.

What's with the music? It's extremely distracting.
David Rodriguez Did I get my audio levels off? I’ll keep that in mind with my next video. No background music better?

Just ditch the background music during your narrative - too invasive. Listening on my Liberty+s.

I have the normal liberty, but they have constent white noise in the background playing. Do the liberty plus have the same? this is mostly at low volume, but it's still there and it's annoying as hell
Frederik Hartung let me try it today but over these past 2 months I haven’t noticed any buzzing
Best of luck with the decision!!
Is there a delay when typing or watching videos?
Going Awesome Places all right, thanks for replying!
It's SG$139(around US$106) here in lazada for a limited time so I'm definitely buying them!
Going Awesome Places hello;just got my pair of the zolo liberty+ and I have a question:
- is there any possible ways to switch between devices?
When you say switch between devices, do you mean between the Zolo's to a different BT headset?
Going Awesome Places so I have a gear fit 2,which has 4 gb of on-board storage and I often don't like to carry my phone in my workouts so I would like to bring the earbuds and the watch so the watch would be connected to the earbuds for streaming music while I'm running, but when I'm at home and and want to connect the earbuds to my s8,they will automatically connect to my watch which is really annoying as I have to unpair the earphones when I'm at home from my watch and unpair them from my phone when I'm just leaving the house for running and I'll have to reconnect them which is really time-consuming....is there any way to disconnect a device via the earphones?(like In bose, there is a button on the earbuds which can help you change connection to Upto 7 devices)
And since bixby doesn't work, the default assistant is Google home on my phone(according to the zolo life app) but when I double click the earphones, they activate bixby which normally doesn't work...
And you said at 14:04 that you can connect multiple devices at the same time is possible and I can't do that...??
Even with my iPad and my phone
Have you found that the text messages notification doesn’t come through the earbuds? That’s the main deal breaker for me.
Damian de Leon I just double checked this and when you have the phone on silent you don’t get messages but when you’re not on silent you hear all the bells. I asked a friend with AirPods and they act the same way he said.
Will the Zolo Liberty Plus pair with all iPhones like an iPhone 5C?
STUDY Kendrick yes they will! Even if your phone isn’t BT 6.0 it’ll pair fine!
Going Awesome Places Thank you so much!
Going Awesome Places the earphones have Bluetooth 5.0 I think which is the latest right now :)
My charging case never seems to reach the 3rd light, it's stuck on the 2nd and it's supposed to blink when charging right?
Yeah that's right. And I'm guessing you've been charging it for a LONG time and that third light never goes solid??
Going Awesome Places ah, great thanks for your reply! And yep! That's indeed the problem. Amazing review btw!
Great video&Review,helped me a lot.
but the background music was too high,
any way im leaving like and a subscribe, was a good video
Thank you! Yes I realized that afterwards. For some reason in FCPX it was fine but when uploaded to RUclips it seems to re-balance the audio levels.
@@GoingAwesomePlaces oh i got this,happens :)
I have a question for you
I just got the this headphones today, and in the saftey information its says that the case needs to be charge in a 1.5 A charger.
is it ok if i use a 2 A charger?
@@ailg1053 Yeah the case is smart enough to handle that so it shouldn't be an issue.
When on the International Amazon?
That's a good question. I haven't seen them up yet on Amazon but actually let me email them and see if I can find out for you.
Looks like later this week.
they are called "Airpods". i just want to make sure other people understand that's the correct name of the device.
Thanks for that! Was a complete noob when I filmed this video and I hadn't even considered Airpods at that time. Earpods? Lmao
I have a Huawei P10 Mate pro and have some problems with connection. It takes forever to get them to connect and when they do it will only last for like 1 min tops before i'm off again. I can't figure out if it's the BT 4,2 on the phone or because of a device issue - any suggestions??
Martin Kristensen that’s really bizarre. Did you download the Zolo Life app to go along with the pairing? Also, when paired, does it show two devices?
Going Awesome Places yes I have downloaded the app but can't enter it due to the missing connection. It shows the solo liberty + om the phone, what is the name of the other one?? I can connect through my samsung gear s3 but the sound is really low..
When I'm connected I see the two devices: "Zolo Liberty+" and "Z-up" which I figured is the left and right sides. Not sure if that has to do with BT 5.0?
Going Awesome Places hmm okay I can't get any of them right now, but will try to reset them and see what happens
Martin Kristensen ok keep me posted on how it goes
Hi great video, you have a decent voice and good knowledge I'm disappointed it was hidden behind techno elevator music
Hey Chad! I hear ya, it's consistent feedback for the video. The weird part is that in post production I didn't feel like it was that overwhelming. I have taken this and definitely reduced background audio for all my future vids!
How do I hear our of both when listening to music
While listening to music the audio of course will automatically go to both ears. That's the default.
@@GoingAwesomePlaces well I just purchased them today and it's not working
@@kingbrown6218 Oh man that's weird! Okay so you got it paired via BT to your phone and you're playing music and it only comes out of the right ear?
@@GoingAwesomePlaces yes
@@kingbrown6218 I wonder if it is defective if that's the case. No luck at all getting audio to come through the other side? Have you downloaded the Zolo app as part of your pairing process?
brooo ur music is way too loud. crank that voice up bro. nice review btw thinking of getting one because of this review
LOL I know newbie mistake. I swear it didn't sound like that coming out of Final Cut Pro...but lesson learned for all my future videos. Glad you found it helpful! Hoping to do a comparison of this and the Apple Airpods soon as well :)
awesome guide. thanks for it
You’re welcome! Glad you found it helpful :)
These aren't the sounscore liberty....they're the zolo liberty. Very different.
Ah I don’t know if they released a separate version for Soundcore unless they did???
Going Awesome Places they did release a new one. Soundcore Liberty Lite and Liberty Air.
Background music is too loooouuddd 😖
I "hear" ya! One of my early review videos and I didn't bring it down enough. I've made the adjustment since then. Wish I could fix it after upload but I can't unfortunately!
background music , irritating bro
You wouldn't be the first to mention it! Wish there a was a way to change it post-publish but I've definitely taken this feedback for my future videos.
A+ Review
Thanks! You thinking of picking one up?
your background music is extremely loud and too damn distracting and makes your review impossible to tolerate ...
Thanks for the feedback! It certainly didn't sound that bad in FCPX but like other viewers that have noted it, I've adjusted it on all my future videos.
The box was heavy add I threw it at my sister
LOL I guess that works? :P
Who want one
Thanks alot
You're welcome!
Zolo for 150$ too much... Samsung Gear Icon X 2018 it's better. Good luck!
Thanks for stopping by!
You'd think so but then you realise that icon x's battery only last like an hour.
@@tengygt7042 not the 2018 version
What’s with that “ music “ or whatever one wants to call it. It’s distracting , totally counterintuitive in respect to what you’re talking about . Makes NO sense ...
Noob mistake for sure :)
$150 for micro usb, dropping signal, mono phone call, huge charging case.. Pass
It's definitely not the perfect device. What are you thinking about getting?
what's wrong with microUSB?
I use spotify EQ
man crappier than airpods and yet same price..... :/
