I unfortunately didn't get my first American Girl doll until I was an adult as my family couldn't afford them when I was a kid, but I've learned my favorite is Julie!! My favorite color is also olive green 😍

I am 59 years old. I knew about American Girl dolls back in the 1980’s but was not interested in collecting them at the time. I was in my twenties. I was interested in other things at the time. A couple of years ago, i started watching videos on RUclips, and I rediscovered American Girl dolls through the videos. i was tired of collecting Barbie and wanted something cute to collect, and i investigated the American Girl dolls, and fell in love with Julie, who was my first American Girl; i also fell in love with Samantha, and her really cool meet dress! I love Julie because i turned 8 at the end of 1969, and was a tween and a teen in the 1970’s! So i relate to Julie, because of that. I like Samantha because she is a very kind girl, and she also gets out of her comfort zone and speaks up to talk about the awful things she saw happen to other children. That took courage! So, i think i am happy with these two, plus two mini dolls, right now, but eventually i might get another. None of my dolls are the new editions; i buy gently used because it is cheaper. I have to say, i do like your original Kirsten’s lighter eyes! I think they are more stunning! The new girl is beautiful too, but in a different way. I have four favorite colors; red, purple, green and blue.

It is really neat to see the differences. I was an adult with no little girls around when the American Girl dolls came out. I was busy buying legos and Star Wars stuff for my son then but I loved finding the catalogs and dreaming of collecting them. Kirsten was my favorite because I had always loved the "little' House" books as a child and her dress was my favorite blue color. In your picture of them together, they look like cousins.

Purple is my favorite color. I always wanted Molly growing up. With this 35th release I ordered her for myself. My daughter got the PC Kirsten Larson from her great grandma. She collected dolls. My Molly arrived and is beautiful. I ordered another Kirsten so my daughter could play with her. I also got Addy. I just started reading her stories and absolutely love them.
They're all so awesome 🎉
My favorite doll is Felicity. I fell in love with her stories first because I loved history so it was fun to read about a spunky green eyed red haired girl growing up and learning to take a stand in America's War for Independence. Then, I found there was a doll! I never thought I'd have her because they were too expensive for my family, but . . . I'll never forget Christmas of 1999 when Felicity showed up at my house. She was my big present from my mom. My mom really made a sacrifice to get her for me because that was a lot of money for a doll for a child. I always took the utmost care of her and we would read books, listen to music do most everything together. She began my love of quality beautiful dolls and shes the centerpiece of my collection today 22 years later. If I had to choose only one doll to keep, she would be my first choice without hesitation. She means a lot to me.

My favorite girl from the original 6 American Girls is Molly. I always loved her because she reminds me of childhood pictures of my mom. My mom would have been a bit younger than Molly but she grew up around the same time period. My mom also had glasses and brown hair that she often wore in twin braids. My favorite color always has and always will be purple!

35 years ago when AG first came out I REALLY wanted one!...I was about 11 or 12 at the time and remember REALLY wanting one....Fast forward to now...I still REALLY want one but never managed to buy one...My favorite is Kaya, as I am Native American myself...and the create your own version of AG. If I win the shirt, it may make it manifest for me to finally obtain one into my collection...And my favorite colors are dark red and black.🤗❤️

I went to the American Girl Doll store on Monday for my birthday in Charlotte it was wonderful. My daughter bought me a doll for my birthday but I forgot to purchase a Charlotte shirt but I plan on going back real soon it’s like a 5 hour drive from Virginia but it’s worth it. Thanks for sharing!!🌸🤗

My favorite American Girl doll is Kirsten, but she only narrowly beats Molly. I remember liking Molly's books best when I was a kid, but I don't think I even had Kirsten's books, so that's not quite a fair comparison. I wear glasses, but I also wore sunbonnets all the way until college just because I thought they were so much fun (also, no sunscreen on my glasses!). Kirsten looks like my little sister. My favorite color is technically green, but that beautiful light blue of Kirsten's dress is another favorite.

I never had American girl dolls till the last few years. My girls wanted them when they were growing up but we couldn't afford them and now as adults they are not doll collectors.
I think my favorite is Molly, as I found her in a Thrift store for $10 on a red tag 50% off day! So, I only paid $5. She was in her plaid shirt and pants which I prefer to her meet outfit. Her braids were perfect and untouched, she is Pleasant Company, though she has a tan body.
I am not competing for the shirt but I love the chance to tell my doll stories. I also think it is incredibly sweet of you to present the opportunity!!
Now , you have me thinking about working on my AG collection again, which one day will go to my two little grand daughters.

Molly and Addy and purple is my favorite color.
I bought the 35th Molly. I already had all of the others except Molly and Addy. Addy, I keep being indecisive between the original and the Beforever. Addy has some of my favorite outfits, and her books were my favorites (I'm around your age, so Addy was the last one to come out while I was in the age-range for the books). Never had the dolls growing up since they were so expensive and we didn't get allowances (had chores but weren't given an allowance for them until maybe age 11, and only $3 a week if I earned it). I had the complete books for Kirsten, Molly, and Addy. I had 2 of Felicity's and 2 of Samantha's (read the rest from the school library). I had their paper doll sets though.
Felicity was the first doll I bought as an adult around 6 or 7 years ago. I later bought an Elizabeth to go with her. Then, it snowballed. Molly, TM 83, and Chrissa joined my collection recently. I still prefer the historicals, but some of the GOTYs are really lovely, and 83 is absolutely gorgeous. I only have one other Truly Me, and it was because she was cheap on Mercari and needed restoring. I like to restore dolls, so I got all of the makeup off her the kid had added, tightened her limbs, cleaned up her, fixed her hair, etc. That one was a 23. Being the good North Carolinian who grew up in the 90s, I named her Michaela after Michael Jordan (since he was number 23).
ETA: I can only handle backcollecting 1 or 2 large clothing collections at once. I was working somewhat on Samantha's (hers is daunting, but it was another doll I got to restore), and now I have Molly to deal with. I can't do Addy until I can knock some more clothes out.
I prefer the historical gals too, there's something so special about them 🥰

I absolutely feel you about the feeling of "closing the circle" 30 years later... It was a fantastic idea, going to the shop, choosing Kirsten again between the options, even if there were very few options... It must have been an amazing feeling. Here in Spain they are releasing again Lord of the Rings movies in the cinemas, and I am so excited to watch them again in the big screen since they are so precious and important to me! I feel like when I was a teen and I discovered the books and movies for the first time. So, yes, I can totally understand your feeling about Kirsten and how important she is for you and how she changed your life and started your collection! Congrats for her, again!
Yassss to LOTR!! The Hobbit has always been my favorite book, followed by the LOTR trilogy. I remember watching Return of the King in the theater, wondering how in the world they were going to do The Army of the Dead Justice, and when I saw it on screen I was literally hooting and hollering and clapping in the theater!! We Americans can be very exuberant 😆

My girls wanted original AG dolls but we lived in West Berlin and it meant getting 3 and having an army friend order them, so we passed and got the books through their German American school instead.
I have been collecting AG dolls since 2015, many are rescues, after my very first
was an early PC Kirsten, she has the light blue eyes of yours, though hers have bubble eye, and light ash blond hair(which I replaced with a silvery wig as her original was beyond rescue), her coloring has pretty much faded and I love her dearly. She was wearing a Samantha dress but a friend had an extra Kirsten dress so we have that now. I have so many favorites, but my PC Kirsten renamed Solveig is top of the list and she sits on my bed against my pillow, next to my Gotz happy kids Anna in Paris renamed Hanni, as she looks like my mom did when she was 9.
My favorite color is at the moment pink, I love pastels though.
I have been trying to decide if I want to buy a anniversary doll or not, or getting Joss in memory of my special ed children I have worked with over the years.

I'm pretty thrilled to watch all the comparisons. If you didn't say what was stamped on the back of her neck I would have asked. Kirsten has always and will always be my favorite historical American girl doll. Though my doll Lottie (just like you 21) is kinda tied with her because of the first doll connection. I own two Kirsten's myself. One is older and one was from shortly before her retirement if I had to guess. Both are second hand. If I had the money I wouldn't hesitate to buy a third. Hehe. I'm really hoping they at least eventually make their accessories available separate so I can get that spoon and necklace. I haven't ever found either for a good price. or really most of her accessories. I'd probably die of excitement if they brought back clothes. I have her red dress, her sweater and mittens, and her summer dress. I so want the entire collection though. But alas my little 9/10 year old self assumed they would never retire her and literally cried for days when I had missed out on getting her. My parents did some serious hunting online and I got her by that Christmas. Point is a part of me really wants the experience of getting her new. But do I really need three? No but also yes. I've been gushing for so long. I'll end my gush fest here. I don't have a favorite color but my favorite color combination is pink, purple and blue. It's just so pretty no matter what shades.

I have to say that my favorite doll is still my Pleasant Company Samantha I received as a little girl (also around 30 years ago). Like you, I did RUSH to the store to buy Courtney when she released and here I am...back into doll collecting with my 5 year old. I got the 35th anniversary Molly the day they released at the Dallas AG store. My fave color is pink. And side note, I'm moving to the Charlotte area in December soooo...💓😁

So far I've gotten the 35th anniversary Samantha, Felicity, and Addy. I'm sure I will end up getting the other three as well. I am so excited to have them: I always wanted Addy's original outfit and accessories and I never got Felicity's original accessories even though I have a PC Felicity from childhood. I am very pleased with the quality of the dolls. Molly is my favorite and my favorite color is pink.

I have never owned an American Girl doll but I loved the books as a child. So I will leave the favourite colour mention for others. The book that stands out the most for me, though, was the stories about Kit Kittredge. This was a cool video!
