  • Go live with your own AstroLab from Guitar Center:
    www.guitarcenter.com/Arturia/...
The Arturia AstroLab is a performance-ready, multitimbral keyboard that lets you create sounds and presets at home (or virtually anywhere you can set up and edit parameters on a laptop) and seamlessly bring all of your sounds, textures and effects to the stage. AstroLab’s intuitive interface makes it near effortless to quickly access all of your sounds during live shows. Powered by Arturia’s V Collection and Pigments, AstroLab offers 27 instruments, 1,300 presets (with 10,000 available through Analog Lab software), two insert effects (including chorus, distortion, flanger, etc.) plus delay (analog, digital, tape) and reverb (plate, spring, room, hall, etc.), arpeggiator, looper, sequencer and even a mic input for the built-in vocoder. In addition, a 320px color screen is embedded in the handy navigation wheel.
“The AstroLab is a lifesaver if you’re on tour,” says keyboardist, composer and producer Jae Deal (who has worked with Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Elton John and others, and is a board member of the Guitar Center Music Foundation). “The backline can change from city to city, but with one of these on the gig, all you need is a mobile device, and at a snap, all of your sounds are uploaded to the AstroLab. Furthermore, the feel of the keybed is super professional. I almost forget that it’s there-which is good, because I can feel free to express myself.”

Wow- that's off the chain. DIdn't know it will do all that. Sounds like a Moog, Roland, Yamaha and all the 80's, 90's and after. Very cool.

It’s $1799 at our local shop in Oz. Whilst this accommodates Pigments I think Arturia should look at a hardware synth version of Pigments with lots more immediate parameter manipulation capability and of course blue ribbon sound. However I’m almost trading in my old gear to get one of these. I want to hear Modular V on this thing. Thanks for showing how you can get this sounding in your studio - different to other demos.

Fantastic demo! Reg. the “thermostat” as some call the display, I think people should be aware of this instrument is based on different philosophy than conventional studio keyboards. But as Jae demonstrated here, you have a giant LCD in the Arturia AstroLap app, using your ipad, problem solved! But the key factor here is the high quality sounds straight out of this great instrument.

What speakers are you running the keyboard sound through? This obviously makes a HUGE difference in what we hear even on this side of RUclips videos.

Great but expensive for what it is. I’ve had Arturia stuff for years and they make wonderful stuff. I still feel the acoustic pianos need a bit of work.

    • @maccagrabme
      @maccagrabme Месяц назад +2

Compared with the price of what synths used to cost this is a bargain. A Korg Triton in the early 2ks cost more but came nowhere near to the tech in this beast. To run the arturia lab and plugins you would need a powerful laptop or PC and audio interface and controller so take that cost out of the equation and you have a superb deal in a far more convenient package.

@@nelauren you don't get the V Collection with this, just Analog Lab (normally $199) which is essentially a preset bank with macros. if you want to adjust the actual synth parameters you need to buy V Collection separately :/

  • @IamCarlFree

At first I was against it but after seeing this particular video I think this would be a good auxiliary board. Being a synth player I don’t like to always be tied to the computer so this would come in handy. Arturia makes dope sounds.

You just want to press a button and play a sound. Most synths don't have a big display and you would normally edit on a computer. At least this is colour.

I heard they worked hard to get the best from the modelling, no latency, no bug, no crash. I agree it's not cheap and I would have liked more controls and drums and drumpad..
But if you need a drumnbass you need something more sequencer besides I guess.
In my opinion someone who already can play keyboard cannot be deceived by the astrolab. But if you're synth pro you will lack more controls (ADSR), and if you're beginner you might want to be sure you can make the most sophisticated sound design which is clearly not the purpose here. The in between may be disturbing.
So a controller and a thermostat don't forget the exclusive computer with best soundcard you can imagine in between.

AstroPriced at $1,599 for a teeny tiny screen. It has no large touchscreen, mpe, sliders or wireless connection (still tethered via usb-c cable). It’s 2024, where is innovation, keyboard makers?

Nothing new under the sun I have Arturia analog lab. And it’s not that big enough stretch to carry your laptop running Ableton live and still have full control. Not empress WITH this review. Word salad review. Regurgitating old information with a tiny screen. Just do a review on Analog Lab 😂😂😂 you still have a second device for the app just take ya lap top. Most keyboardist don’t change sounds to that extreme. No faders limited controls.

Like many videos, this one takes too long and uses a bunch of words to describe regular things. It's a bad sign.
Good gear needs to be played and heard only and the great stuff stands out automatically. The price of this thing is not justified, even though I'm sure it's nice. However, we don't want just nice, we want more tor our money and with what has been put out in the past 5yrs, from all companies, is more or less mediocre at best.

How much polyphony is there for polysynths? 6-8 voices? It sounds ridiculously in the 21st Century. What kind of CPU did they place there? Pentium III?
