Sea of Thieves is absolutely amazing. There is nothing like that on the market, nothing to compare to. Every session is different, you never know what's going to happen. I've met amazing people on the seas. I have 5k hours already and thirst for more.
I’ve played AC IV a million times. IMO Sea of Thieves is not only the greatest pirate game of all time but one of the greatest sandboxes period. There are progression issues, but the stories that come out of this game are unique and breathtaking. Been playing since launch and seeing it develop from a empty sandbox into a game with endless things to work towards
being able to have a social lobby in the new guild system could be cool, where you can meet with other members of your guild and build small homes in some large private island
i'd honestly say that safer seas could've DESTROYED the game. it was a really large risk, but seeing that there is still average pirates or new ones to have fun with and teach in high seas is good. i still have a MAJOR problem with it, and that is: the potential to satisfy BOTH sides of the community. they could've just added the ability to invite ships, so that you can do things like duel your friends, make fun arena-like events, and more. it could've had potential to satisfy everyone in the community (of course, the -70% is deserved, as high risk is high reward, and so it should give off less). because i am absolutely TERRIBLE at game sense and more like that, so i would like to test my skill and practice with my friend that has much more game sense.
4:00 the max ships per server is 6 but if their is a galleon it is only 5. but because the servers are in such a bad state right now, rare limited it to 5 ships even if their are no galleons
I just think they need to ease up the restrictions. Allow full payout just nonemmisary (since the whole purpose is to be a target of PvP for higher rewards). Athenas is iffy because pirate legend isn't really about PvP but it attracts a ton of it normally, but I could be on board with athenas voyages in safer seas just with no emmisary bonuses. The whole reputation level limit kinda sucks because it bars a few tiers of voyage quality from being accessed without some time spent on high seas. I'd say the lack of bonuses is enough of a limit on its own as you can make over double the standard rate with emmisary on high seas. So safer seas at 100% payout would still be under 50% the potential earnings of high seas.

Its great for those who are new to really get the chance to learn the ropes up till level 30, or if youve had a stressful few sessions you get a chance to take a break and do a quest or two on the safer seas. Also to do tall tales its great. Problem with not capping as harsh is too many people will only stick to the safe seas and get just as much rep and gold as those on the high seas , which is supposed to represent skill in this game
I believe safer seas is not restricting enough as I believe it should be used for tall tales and for new players getting familiar I believe that safer seas should be temporary and close when your pirate gets to level 35 in everything
As rare did say it’s a pvp game with pve aspects witch they have for some reason been focusing on the pve too much with balancing to pve however I think we need a pvp overhaul as it is fairly stale you get the same situations all the time players use same routes on ships and mostly the same strategy
there's so many things i wish they'd add that i dont think would be too much work and most are from black flag, like diving bell, whaling, ice region and an ice cutter for ships and maybe customizations for that. more or smoother progression would also be nice, like something more user friendly than dumping the butt load of titles you have in one thing completely unorganized, filters/sorting for your customizations
This perfectly encapsulates how i've felt about this game since release. 5 years of playing and I still haven't gotten bored. 13,000 hours worth of content isn't something a lot of games can boast (or any that I've been able to find). Amazing production and a very well made video.

There is one thing that makes Sot the best pirate game on the market, the way you can steer the ship. In other Pirate games we can control ships like cars, and since playing Sot, it feels just odd now.
Sea of thieves is the best Pirate game because of one reason.. there is no other Good Pirate games out there. not that is multiplayers. I am not hating on it, but its the fact. Sea of thieves is an game that is one of its kind right now. no other pirate game is the same. And that is both an good and bad thing.. good cause it will be rememberable and unique, but bad because it don't really have any rivals.. so not a lot of challenging for the devs to have to make more then the minimum to he game in updates.

There has only ever been a handful of people online when I've looked. There is another ocean that I've heard more people play on, but even then I think it's only a few hundred people.
In nearly 200 comments this has surely been touched on already but - The other pirates in the world are just as memorable as the world itself. As SoT is a sandbox, it can’t be understated that not every crew or individual you run into will be bloodthirsty, or that even if they are they will be brainless. The diplomacy that happens with other crews can be magical and lead to hilarious encounters, lasting friendships, and plenty of unexpected happenings. This isn’t an indictment of safer seas, but rather that if anyone watches this video and sees that the only clips of human interaction are them being butchered, it’s not always that predicable/simple.
Yes! This! Meeting and interacting with other pirates is the reason the game has never become stale or repetitive for me, even during season 9. It always feels different and it's always a blast, even if the other crew is toxic or we get sunk. I've found many great battles and friendships alike in this game, which is why I always recommend playing on high seas. Safer seas is great to start out and get a feel of the combat and other mechanics, but nothing can replace the feeling of being ship guard while your friends clear a fort of the damned and seeing a boat approach. You never know how it's gonna go.
This is hands down one of the best video to watch if ur starting out, it represents not just the fun, the the thing rare needs to work on but the memories that u create equally. Brilliant vid mate!

That’s what I’ve been thinking about the recent changes where a lot of unofficial tech has been removed. I understand removing things like the ladder launch and “alt tab” boarding but not things that have a pretty small impact on PvP like animation cancelling (which exists in practically *every* video game) or harpoon boarding. I have a feeling these changes were made not because there was huge outcry about them but just to make the PvErs who cry on Reddit rejoice that rare is finally doing something about the “toxic exploiting double-gunners” and “balancing” the game but realistically if you lose to someone quickswapping, 99% of the time you lost not because of quickswapping but just because you were outskilled. Little macro-game techniques are especially important in a game like SoT where there’s no powering progression besides getting better at the game through raw skill.
TL;DR - Toxic trolls were ruining the game for casual players and running off those new to the game, and Safer Seas is possibly the best thing Rare has done. I've been playing (off and on) for about two years now. Solo sloop, which I learned is apparently the most difficult way to play the game...sooo that's cool. Pirate Legend early on. Then my partner, who is *not* about the PVP, saw how much fun I was having and wanted to join. Tall Tales (yes Pirate's Life is fun and funny) and all that. I did my best to avoid conflict and let those who were looking to attack that she really didn't want PVP, and we met some great folks...but then there were a lot of toxic people who relished the opportunity to completely ruin her day...and said the most amazing things along the way. I can usually hold my own (always hilarious when she and I would sink those bullies time and again), but she couldn't take it and quit. Said she'd never come back. Which made sense. It's a game. And then I opened the game and saw Safer Seas. It was a literal godsend. We now play again. I still go to the High Seas when I'm solo (bring it, trolls) and have enough gold to purchase everything in Safer Seas, and we have a great time. It isn't about the rewards but rather relaxing and completing Tall Tales (lol Monkey Island is simultaneously funny and dumb). She also manned the cannons on our sloop as we sunk her first Skeleton Galleon to complete one of the Alliance world events (still isn't the biggest fan of me taking a keg and jumping off our ship to probably detonate myself and their ship). Such a great move by Rare.
After i finished the video i looked at the channel wondering how i never seen your videos before and i was stunned at the subscriber count, if you keep making videos like this your definitely gonna blow up soon, i cant wait to see whats next
Sea of Thieves is the closest we've come to that MMO Pirate game we all want, but it fell short for me. The game released in practically an alpha state, launches are a big deal...The game released with like 3 quests: dig up treasure, kill skeletons, transport. The ship battles, pvp, sailing were fun. However, there were no real consequences in this game, you just suicide and respawn generic ships over and over. I think if they just waited a few more years and fleshed it out before releasing it could have been really epic. It's a shame because the people who made Sea of Thieves did so many things well, especially being the best age of sail sandbox.
There is one place that is cooler then the pirate legend hideout and that’s the Reapers lair underneath the Reapers hideout you can only get in by being level 100 in the Servants of the flame the faction that serves the main villain of the game Captain Flameheart

@@dawipeach8948 yes we can lmao, people like cant keep hiding behind "its a pirate game" while also bitching about alliance servers, pirates made agreements to stay the fuck out of each others way all the damn time, they rarely attacked each other in fact because doing so was a great way to get yourself killed when making port at the few pirate havens where they could in relative safety, again cant keep saying its a pirate game so being a psycho is okay while also bitching about people actually working together and/or agreeing to just stay put of each others way
I also think it is worth mentioning how rewarding it can feel to engage in PvP. No matter the stakes, me and my vet crew will enjoy fighting any ship of any type, and it’s really great that there is basically no skill ceiling if you have imagination. We successfully got our PvP curses a while back and even now still love fighting
fun fact: have you ever been inside the storm and thought "huh, that storm seems a tad bit more violent than usual..."? that's because it is, its strength is different depending on the area it happens, with the strongest storm happening in the wilds and with the most dangerous happening in the devil's roar... boy have I suffered for them stormfish commendations...
Sea of Thieves will always be my favorite game of all time. With 30+ days. However, The ONLY thing that lives in the back of my mind is grinding for all this gold to only be for cosmetics.
Harpoon boarding isn’t a feature, never was, it’s an exploit. Otherwise, I’m always down for new features being added regardless if it’s weapons, or tools like a swing shot
Kind of like how sword lunging also didnt start out as a feature, it was an exploit that the devs decided to turn into a feature, no reason the same logic couldnt have been applied to many other "exploits" that people used to cry about, like quick swap harpoon board etc,
@@SubtleFlow sword lunging is different in the sense that it’s not outright exploitative. The sword lunge was always a feature, the exploitation is a small improvement that allows for slightly faster movements of the original sword lunge mechanic, but the charging animation is still there and a miss still comes with a paralysis for a few seconds. Being able to board a ship using the harpoon and incoming waves is pure exploitative though, especially since mostly only sloops or brigs are affected by this and you’re not meant to use the harpoon to board others in the first place. If you’re going to go down that route then you might as well say anything can be a feature, including clipping through ships bottom hulls to board. You still don’t see the issue?
learning about safer seas may be the thing that sells me on the game tbh. i don't really have the time to get good at yet another game's pvp and just getting killed over and over or being trolled because i'd play extremely casually was what kept me from buying it.
Don’t be impressed. Rare doesn’t give a single crap about those of us who don’t like pvp. safer seas SUCKS. Just play regularly and avoid combat, it’s much better. Check the map for reapers and the horizon for silhouettes
Sea of Thieves is great, but for the past year it hasn’t been doing it for me. When they added Hourglass in Season 8 I got my ghost curse and I’ve barely played since then. They need to add something that fundamentally changes gameplay and then I’ll be back, but I don’t regret any of the ~1500 hours I’ve put into the game at all.
As far as im concerned its the only pirate game ever. Ive played ACIV and tried skull and bones and Sod Meiers Pirates etc and none of them felt as comprehensive as this game. If they keep expanding it its gunna continue to dominate the pirate genre. And with every addition it becomes a greater standard to follow
Good game with friends good game solo but if you play with randoms with 40+ days played you will be judged for every little thing you do meanwhile players with 100+ days will just be there for fun because they've done everything and just love the game

Amazes me how many people disagree with this take. Every other pirate game that I've played besides Black Flag is utterly cheeks. This game has everything (besides gore, which I know a lot of you get off on) PvE, PvP, comraderie, anything you could imagineand even some higher level learning. Not to mention it's gorgeous. Best pirate game up to date. Just wish the servers could hold maybe one or two more ships.
In short = YES. It IS the best pirate game. So far until 2024. And from what it looks the only contester that could be coming is Sea of Thieves II. Shadow of Gambit is most likely the best STrategie-pirate game
I play since alpha im almost at 9k hour in this game and am still having a blast its is for sure the best pirate game so far with s&b basicly a mobile game and blazing sail only a battel royal black flag was nice but you get bored pretty fast
I just wish their was a more realistic pirate game to play. Sea of thieves is very charming but it doesnt feel like more than the kids game full of sweats that it is. We all wanted skull and bones to be black flag but multiplayer. Yet from how its looking its going to be black flag but stripped to its bare bones and heavily focused on ship v ship combat. Sea of thieves but with a less cartoonist aesthetic would be so much better.
It's the best only because noone's tried to do the same formula yet. Skulls and Bones is pretty much guaranteed to be a mediocre disappointment as is Ubisoft's brand, and the stakes aren't even high at all.
For me, the best graphic settings color wise are: Color blindness filter Green-Red with the strength set at 2.0 (Max), and the Saturation level set at 1.0 (Also max). It makes the game look a lot more vibrant, it really brings the colors out.

Is there ANY possibility of a “pirate game” with absolutely 0% grit, being “the best pirate game ever”? No absolutely not. I wouldn’t even actually consider it a “pirate game”. I would very specially categorize it as a “kiddie-cartoon-pirate game”. If you took the same format and dumped about a million tons of grit into it, and made it more realistic and grounded THEN maybe it would be “the best pirate game ever”

it is the best, but it doesnt mean it is good. the game is literally dying i have 700h in it and i dont have motivation to go play the game, because it is boring and everybody who you play against will run or not even fight just leave the game
It's people like you that are the reason Im playing again with friends on safer seas. We only get one day a week to play and we had to stop because people would keep chasing us and sinking us when we were teaching new people how to play.

guys this is my oppinion, but there is no reason to play this game for players like me because it is really boring, not like in fortnite, cs, valorant, in these games there is a reason to play, but in this nah
There is only one reason to play a game, for fun, it was fun for me because of all the options you had in PvP, but now they removed all boarding and attacking options, i started playing in 2018 i have 2500 hours in the game and it was the only game I played frequently on weekends, and I remember that it was more exciting, there were more and better fights, until they removed the Arena and it became a Disney princess sailing simulator and there are only braindead people left in the game in general (no offence im just a little upset), very few people will give you a decent fight and 90% of the players will run away from you despite having practically nothing on board, not to mention that that same percentage of people forget the definition of a pirate.

After having the misfortune of playing the closed beta for Skull and Bones, yeah, Sea of Thieves is still the best pirate game.

Sea of Thieves is the closest we've come to that MMO Pirate game we all want, but it fell short for me.
The game released in practically an alpha state, launches are a big deal...The game released with like 3 quests: dig up treasure, kill skeletons, transport.
The ship battles, pvp, sailing were fun. However, there were no real consequences in this game, you just suicide and respawn generic ships over and over.
I think if they just waited a few more years and fleshed it out before releasing it could have been really epic. It's a shame because the people who made Sea of Thieves did so many things well, especially being the best age of sail sandbox.
When you run out of fun things to do in sea of thieves you make your own fun.
There is one place that is cooler then the pirate legend hideout and that’s the Reapers lair underneath the Reapers hideout you can only get in by being level 100 in the Servants of the flame the faction that serves the main villain of the game Captain Flameheart

I do love the Tall Tales! They can be a bit confusing though, I have had to cheat and lookup tutorials online to finish them.

I almost never see Pirates (1987) and Sid Meier's Pirates (2004 remake) talked about in these videos even though it is an amazing game
I also think it is worth mentioning how rewarding it can feel to engage in PvP. No matter the stakes, me and my vet crew will enjoy fighting any ship of any type, and it’s really great that there is basically no skill ceiling if you have imagination. We successfully got our PvP curses a while back and even now still love fighting
I also think it is worth mention how crushing it can be.
fun fact: have you ever been inside the storm and thought "huh, that storm seems a tad bit more violent than usual..."? that's because it is, its strength is different depending on the area it happens, with the strongest storm happening in the wilds and with the most dangerous happening in the devil's roar... boy have I suffered for them stormfish commendations...

Sea of Thieves will always be my favorite game of all time. With 30+ days. However, The ONLY thing that lives in the back of my mind is grinding for all this gold to only be for cosmetics.

I joined back in 2019. Although I didn’t and still don’t like where they were going with seasons I still absolutely adore the game.
Harpoon boarding isn’t a feature, never was, it’s an exploit. Otherwise, I’m always down for new features being added regardless if it’s weapons, or tools like a swing shot
Kind of like how sword lunging also didnt start out as a feature, it was an exploit that the devs decided to turn into a feature, no reason the same logic couldnt have been applied to many other "exploits" that people used to cry about, like quick swap harpoon board etc,
@@SubtleFlow sword lunging is different in the sense that it’s not outright exploitative. The sword lunge was always a feature, the exploitation is a small improvement that allows for slightly faster movements of the original sword lunge mechanic, but the charging animation is still there and a miss still comes with a paralysis for a few seconds.
Being able to board a ship using the harpoon and incoming waves is pure exploitative though, especially since mostly only sloops or brigs are affected by this and you’re not meant to use the harpoon to board others in the first place.
If you’re going to go down that route then you might as well say anything can be a feature, including clipping through ships bottom hulls to board. You still don’t see the issue?

learning about safer seas may be the thing that sells me on the game tbh. i don't really have the time to get good at yet another game's pvp and just getting killed over and over or being trolled because i'd play extremely casually was what kept me from buying it.
Don’t be impressed. Rare doesn’t give a single crap about those of us who don’t like pvp. safer seas SUCKS. Just play regularly and avoid combat, it’s much better. Check the map for reapers and the horizon for silhouettes

Sea of Thieves is great, but for the past year it hasn’t been doing it for me. When they added Hourglass in Season 8 I got my ghost curse and I’ve barely played since then. They need to add something that fundamentally changes gameplay and then I’ll be back, but I don’t regret any of the ~1500 hours I’ve put into the game at all.
As far as im concerned its the only pirate game ever. Ive played ACIV and tried skull and bones and Sod Meiers Pirates etc and none of them felt as comprehensive as this game. If they keep expanding it its gunna continue to dominate the pirate genre. And with every addition it becomes a greater standard to follow

Most pirate games have a theme of piracy, but in sea of thieves you can actually "pirate" around
Good game with friends good game solo but if you play with randoms with 40+ days played you will be judged for every little thing you do meanwhile players with 100+ days will just be there for fun because they've done everything and just love the game

Amazes me how many people disagree with this take. Every other pirate game that I've played besides Black Flag is utterly cheeks. This game has everything (besides gore, which I know a lot of you get off on) PvE, PvP, comraderie, anything you could imagineand even some higher level learning. Not to mention it's gorgeous. Best pirate game up to date. Just wish the servers could hold maybe one or two more ships.

No it isn't. It's good at what it does. But lacks heavily in many areas. 10,000+ hours into SoT, I still love it and hate it equally.

I play since alpha im almost at 9k hour in this game and am still having a blast its is for sure the best pirate game so far with s&b basicly a mobile game and blazing sail only a battel royal black flag was nice but you get bored pretty fast

I just wish their was a more realistic pirate game to play. Sea of thieves is very charming but it doesnt feel like more than the kids game full of sweats that it is.
We all wanted skull and bones to be black flag but multiplayer. Yet from how its looking its going to be black flag but stripped to its bare bones and heavily focused on ship v ship combat.
Sea of thieves but with a less cartoonist aesthetic would be so much better.
It's the best only because noone's tried to do the same formula yet. Skulls and Bones is pretty much guaranteed to be a mediocre disappointment as is Ubisoft's brand, and the stakes aren't even high at all.

For me, the best graphic settings color wise are: Color blindness filter Green-Red with the strength set at 2.0 (Max), and the Saturation level set at 1.0 (Also max). It makes the game look a lot more vibrant, it really brings the colors out.

Is there ANY possibility of a “pirate game” with absolutely 0% grit, being “the best pirate game ever”? No absolutely not. I wouldn’t even actually consider it a “pirate game”. I would very specially categorize it as a “kiddie-cartoon-pirate game”. If you took the same format and dumped about a million tons of grit into it, and made it more realistic and grounded THEN maybe it would be “the best pirate game ever”

it is the best, but it doesnt mean it is good. the game is literally dying i have 700h in it and i dont have motivation to go play the game, because it is boring and everybody who you play against will run or not even fight just leave the game
It's people like you that are the reason Im playing again with friends on safer seas. We only get one day a week to play and we had to stop because people would keep chasing us and sinking us when we were teaching new people how to play.

guys this is my oppinion, but there is no reason to play this game for players like me because it is really boring, not like in fortnite, cs, valorant, in these games there is a reason to play, but in this nah
There is only one reason to play a game, for fun, it was fun for me because of all the options you had in PvP, but now they removed all boarding and attacking options, i started playing in 2018 i have 2500 hours in the game and it was the only game I played frequently on weekends, and I remember that it was more exciting, there were more and better fights, until they removed the Arena and it became a Disney princess sailing simulator
and there are only braindead people left in the game in general (no offence im just a little upset), very few people will give you a decent fight and 90% of the players will run away from you despite having practically nothing on board, not to mention that that same percentage of people forget the definition of a pirate.
