You Should Play Hogwarts Legacy in 2024
I replayed through Hogwarts Legacy very recently. Without doubt one of the games that I enjoyed most from 2023 and although a year is next to nothing in terms of game years - it still hasn't lost it's spark in 2024.
Learned alot making this video and lots more to come! Be sure to drop a like and subscribe! Hope you guys enjoy the video!

Valheim has Ruined Survival Games for me
Просмотров 436 тыс.6 месяцев назад
Valheim has truly made its mark on the Survival genre and it has done so without a big budget or a Triple AAA Studio behind it. I love Valheim, even all these years later, the more you play, the better it gets! I really hope you guys enjoy the video and thanks for watching! #valheim #irongatestudio #vikings @IronGate Instagram: masonellistv Twitter/X: MasonEllisShow

Some notes. Why valheim seriously stands out if for the reason that the game actually forces you not only to explore, but to take risks. The one thing i love about valheim is that almost all resources are in different biomes, yet all of the resources such as copper, tin, iron, silver. All have different uses. Even in the endgame. Valheim more or less took terrarias system of "here you defeated this boss. Now you can fight the next one" but took all these resources you previously uses for maybe armor or weapons and now turns them into something you can build with or make other weapons with later on in the game even though it's an earlier resource. That's basically why i got bored with terraria so easily. Terraria more or less dissregarded all the old resources and just made them useless to keep. But in valheim it's almost a must to just keep every piece of metal you can get your hands on for the future. Also another thing i love about valheim is that for getting better foods, like the stuff in the plains, you actually the first time have to just chance it quite a lot. But the reward for it is sweat. You almost have to build a camp in the plains to grow barley and get other resources from there and that's one thing i love with valheim still to this day. Valheim truely aspires to most forms of players, the souls player. The builder and the casual alike. I think in a generation of so many carbon copies of games, valheim shines through both in artstyle and game style.

I boycotted this game for the longest time, due to JK's remarks, however I finally caved and am so glad. So many gay/trans characters. Truly a nice sight in a game.

I think Valheim just got mostly everything right. The game progresses at a steady pace, with each biome getting gradually harder, incentivising you to craft better gear. Because of that, there is always something to work towards right up until the very last boss which is unlike most survival games where you're left to your own vices and get to a point where you ask yourself "what now?" It feels like an actual game with an actual point rather than just being an open world sandbox. On top of that, all the systems in the game work flawlessly. The building mechanic is the best I've seen in any survival game - simplistic but with freedom for creative expression. The combat is satisfying. Crafting is straight forward and makes sense so you don't have to search Google for answers. Also, the atmosphere in this game is unparalleled. This game immersed me like no other. The graphic style is unique and eye catching, the sound design is incredibly well done and accompanied by the dynamic music which, albeit being annoying after a while, really inspires your sense of adventure. Unlike most games of the genre where I'd squeeze maybe about 50-100 hours out of it, Valheim is a game that I'm constantly sucked back into. There just seems to always be something else to do considering how simple the gameplay loop is. It's one of the only games I've played I could consider to be almost perfect.

I'm getting ready to start playing but it's hard to say it's a survival game when you can't starve...let alone genre defining? I have 500 hours in DayZ. That's a survival game

Too bad the devs are to incompetent in order to hire more people and make this game great, its an okay game, its stuck with us purely because of covid, its lacking in so many aspects its crazy, too bad they took our money and basically run away, dropping 1 meaningful update once a year and fixing some bugs throughout the year.

This is a game, that if you jump in for the first time, don’t study up on tutorial and progress as fast as you can. This game is designed so that figuring stuff out is part of the magic and is a lot of what makes it so amazing. I followed the advice of a RUclipsr I watched early on and stopped watching tips and tricks videos, so that the game would be more my own. If you figure out some hack on your own, it feels so much more organic and your own and the game somehow makes it that way. It’s a much more enjoyable experience. This video is a great homage to the true nature of the game without any spoilers (except how to build a nice chimney). 😂

Ok, let's dial it back a notch. It was a good game, but we must admit the world was a little empty, and reacting in it was dissipionting. More you can't do than you can. RDR2, it is not. Hopefully with the second things will change.

Best thing is sailing around the world collecting valuables. And then (just because you are close to the edge) you decide to check how the edge of the map is. The current near the edge sucked our boat and we fell off the world (5 persons). We lost all our best upgraded iron gear and tons of resources. 5/5 would sail to the edge again.

8:30 in high school there was a poster on the wall in the science class it said in 20 years people won't remember what you wore or even what you said. They will remember how you made them feel though. Perfect analogy for video games. I can go back and play my favorite MMORPG of all time dark is a Camelot and it doesn't feel the same, and that's okay because the memories I got from it at the time last forever.

My very fave feature of Valheim is how everything is completely discoverable. Everything in the game you can work out with a little creative trial and error. Items and abilities are unlocked step by step and work together so *clearly* that we were constantly discovering cool things we could do with what we had. Coming from other games that were so opaque and so rushed I felt like gameplay was "read the strat/watch the vid, mindlessly follow the steps, repeat" (Looking at you, WoW). Valheim's richness and freedom are wonderful. And the sailing!

My first survival game was Subnautica and it was such an experience... Audibly it is even better than Valheim - music and noises depending on biome and there were plenty of pretty scary ones... Great after work relaxation in water with Avatar-like glowing sea life! But I think I can play Valheim for more hours than Subnautica while still being interesting.

Valheim is also my absolute favorite survival game, for most of the reasons you've mentioned. Well, up until you get to the Mistlands... In my opinion I think the devs have lost the sauce in their Mistlands and Ashlands updates and didn't know when to say enough is enough in development. I really do wish I could enjoy those two zones as I do the first 5, but I just cant.

"It's strikingly obvious that the developers of the game have tried to create a game that's respectful of the players' time." A resource collection game with as many impediments to resource collection as possible. You get 32 inventory slots. Four go to armor, four to weapons, usually one for a shield, then three non-weapon tools, three food items, usually some special item like a biome key or ore detector, and then a potion and the stuff to build a portal, for over 50% of your slots filled just with essential gear. This all weighs like 40% of your possible carry weight, but don't worry you can improve that by.... sacrificing another inventory slot. 🤦‍♂ But hey, InVeNtOrY mAnAgEmEnT iS A fUn pArT oF tHe GaMePlAy LoOp. I actually love this game and can't stop playing it, but I'm not sure if that just makes me a masochist.

I was totally stuck on the boss after Eikthyr, didn't know what to do. In most games i'd be stuck, but in Valheim i had a friend join me in coop and he showed me what to do. Didn't have to level up anything and that is the most awesome feature of Valheim - the seamless joining into another players game session, and that you can bring items with you. Sure, people can cheat easily by bringing OP gear they spawned, but that is a problem more with them than with online play. First time i saw a troll, i had already levelled up archery to the point that i was able to kite them and take them out from a distance. Got some gold out of it and there were much rejoycing.
